Thats exactly how I started. Its not perfectly comfortable but you can make it manageable. Just keep wearing it around the house and make sure its loaded, you have to include the weight of the ammo. Pick up your belt line as you sit to bring the grip up and over your belly, that helps me, if not its just gonna press and cause pain.

Though not exactly the same, I’ve been using a full mag of snap caps instead of actual ammo to practice.
