    I always sacrifice my f pawn in the opening both as white and black. I really love the resulting pawn structure regardless if they accept the sacrifice or not

    You are a great teacher, making what may be quite complex ideas a lot simpler to understand with some great examples Thank you, will now look at pawn tension in a different way. Brilliant.

    I think the third example has come out of the French defense advance variation

    In example 3, the e pawn is defend by the Knight if the d pawn takes, it still definitely isn't the right move but at least it is defended 😅

      True, I realized while editing I said it was undefended lol

    Thanks for the great video! I'm 1300 and still have a lot to learn about pawn tension, breaks, formations, etc. So more videos on pawn topics would be appreciated!

    speaking of pawns WHEN is it not a good idea to do the "bunny ears"? (a6/a3/h6/a3)

    In example 2 trading a rook and a bishop for a queen looks very dangerous, right before the endgame.

    • @svenjonsson4275
      @svenjonsson4275 4 місяці тому +1

      It's actually a great trade If you count Bishop as 3 and rook as 5 you already there got +1 as queen is typically counted as 9. Also, you have in the example opened up for blacks king to be further attacked with great chance for white.

      Put it in an engine, it’s a winning trade for white

    • @Sagerydian
      @Sagerydian 4 місяці тому

      Sure I can put it in an engine - but not while playing. I am a beginner/intermediate and otb I'd honestly hesitate to trade all this material. @@matthewbennett7839

      After the trade Qc2+ immediately wins a knight, so it's actually a queen for a rook and white is completely winning.
