when snake did that animation at 43:00 i thought thats what all the Snake players from brawl did when Snake wasn't confirmed to return in Smash Wii U and 3DS but who knows maybe as a DLC if Mewtwo isn't the only DLC character
I was hoping this was just a remastered version of the original game. The dialogue kinda feels foreign but it's not in a bad way, just different. Thanks for the upload :)
LOL @ 47:52 The president of the company is only allowed into level 2 areas. Go game logic! Anyway, many thanks for uploading this, dude. Re-living my childhood right now! xD
Wow it also worx as a movie. Thnx for uploadin. This game was kickass awesome. I remember the first time i played it on the ps1. All msg episodes are cewl, but this one is my favourite. I grew up with the franchise. Thank you hideo san for a wonderful time! Too bad u quit and the series is therefore over for me.
Genius! Thankyou so much for this!.. because of mgv's recent reveal I wanted to do a catch up.. mgs1 2 3 4 and peacewalker.. I started playing mgs1 on the ps3 (psx version) and just didn't like the mechanics they were too outdated and seen as all I wanted was the story (I actually want to play the rest) I searched for it and found this.. you've done a great job and it feels like I'm watching a movie. I prefer the twin snakes version, I remember playing it myself ..
..people complain about this version and all the over-acting and fight moves they do, but I believe the psx version was limited by hardware and probably would've looked like this if it could. Again thankyou for putting this together :-)
I admit, pointing the gun at the president was a bit over the top lol. I can sorta understand him shaking Otacon, I mean the dude was just tortured, and he's afraid of getting tortured again! People will behave in uncharacteristic ways when they're desperate, and nobody comes outta torture unscathed, doesn't matter how tough you are. I'm not saying it was right of Snake to shake Otacon since obviously Otacon had no control over the situation, but at the same time I can kinda understand since he'd just been tortured.
According to David Hayter, the original dialogue was recorded in an apartment that was converted to a studio rather than a proper one. Since the gamecube has a better soundcard, there would have been other noises present. And because they needed to make reference to the gamecube buttons.
Of course I did. The MGS demo came out when I was a child and it reflects on the most precious times in my childhood. Kojima picked the best part of Shadow Moses to nostalgically rip emotions out of us. Brilliance!
Its driving me nuts!! I had to pause the video to get this out!! Sure they needed better quality recordings for the modern systems of the time, but the obvious re-recording of the dialogue is maddening. I loved this game as a teen and played it to death. their voices are perminantly etched into my brain in exact pitch. Roy pronounces words differently, snake did good but the inflection of his voice naturally differes from the original.. and Mei Ling had character when she sounded super asain.
Basically, it combined MGS1 & MGS2. MGS1's story and Dialogue with MGS2's power engine. They especially did the combination with the codec sequences. During codec conversations, the numbers in the middle look like MGS2's codec and the character faces look like MGS1's codec
1:14:18 no! my favorite codec moment. It had so much emotion in the original, with Snake's shock, Colonel's disgust, and Naomi's animosity toward what she's saying. Now it all sounds like they were replaced by robots.
The death/speech of Psycho Mantis is the single most shockingly awesome event that I have ever witnessed in video game history. So genuine, so passionate, so...perfect.
David Hayter is a successful screenwriter who doesn't need the money and is one of us when it comes to the metal gear solid franchise, it's easy to understand why he would lower his asking amount.
Ryosuke324 Snake got a vision into the future for a brief moment and saw the Ground Zeroes was being sold for 30 dollars and saw how many people were buying it haha
Back in the day we use to have 3rd party controllers where you could flip switches that made it so the controller would automatically and continuously press a particular button for you, usually at a rate that most people couldn't do physically. They probably still have them now but they're a lot less common.
Also, when I first got this far in the original MGS (Ninja), When the ninja said that he "came from another world to do battle with Snake", I actually thought that the ninja was an alien (extraterrestrial/E.T.)
That's David Hayter acting. "The voice acting was re-recorded with the original cast from Metal Gear Solid, except for the role of Gray Fox. David Hayter persuaded Konami to have the original voice cast reprise their roles. The main reason for the re-recording, according to an interview with Hayter, was because the increased audio quality allowed by the Gamecube picked up outside noise from the original recordings that were inaudible in the PlayStation version."
I loved this remake. They did quite a good job putting in the best gameplay bits of mgs2 into shadow moses. But bullet time? Snake vaulting off of a missle? Cmon now. That part is just silly. That was the only gripe I had about it. They tried to make it matrixy, and they lost the vibes that make mgs great. A good game, but some parts are lame. Snake is a soldier. A clone. Not neo.
@Slimepoop I haven't seen any yet but I just watched the cutscene for the Ninja/Snake battle and they all sound less enthused to repeat the lines...jmo
I think there were concerns over the original audio not being done in soundproof rooms and the quality of the recording and how much better the sound quality is on PS2/GC/Xbox compared to PS1. I don't think there are any major problems with the original audio but still.
when snake did that animation at 43:00 i thought thats what all the Snake players from brawl did when Snake wasn't confirmed to return in Smash Wii U and 3DS but who knows maybe as a DLC if Mewtwo isn't the only DLC character
Thanks a lot for uploading these. Only played the original, never had to opportunity to play through the Game Cube remake.
thank u for the upload man=)i was so young when i had played the game and it brings me so much memories=)
Love the epic story boarding of the gameplay to move between the cutscenes!
legit. thx for making this I liked it alot. On my way to part 2! :D
gj coming up with something like this, i was waiting for some video where i can see the pure cutscenes
the time, effort, and care put into this video really shows. great job! made my day off epic. love the graphic novel inserts.
Excellent work! I love the editing and the how you put together the codec calls and the cutscenes.
Beautifully done. Thanks slimepoop!
I was hoping this was just a remastered version of the original game. The dialogue kinda feels foreign but it's not in a bad way, just different. Thanks for the upload :)
Excellent editing. Thank you!
great video, impressively pieced together.
Great job man, i really liked what you did there.
the best has yet to come
heeey congratulations , the combination of the twin snakes and the graphic novel is bery god ...
LOL @ 47:52
The president of the company is only allowed into level 2 areas. Go game logic!
Anyway, many thanks for uploading this, dude. Re-living my childhood right now! xD
This is amazing! Thank you for sharing
dude perfect job this is just the best
thank you for this epic upload
This is a really nice job, man.

great job man is really good :) thanks so much

Snake pointing gun at the president, snake straggling Otacon just because he's slow at getting Snake out... These arent Solid Snake's trait...
its a bit over-the-top but youre rite
I admit, pointing the gun at the president was a bit over the top lol. I can sorta understand him shaking Otacon, I mean the dude was just tortured, and he's afraid of getting tortured again! I got out from jail by hiding under the bed and the guard was being careless, didn't even know the ninja would get you out.

The voice acting in the PS1 version was perfect. The remake ruined it
Basically, it combined MGS1 & MGS2. MGS1's story and Dialogue with MGS2's power engine. They especially did the combination with the codec sequences. During codec conversations, the numbers in the middle look like MGS2's codec and the character faces look like MGS1's codec
It also kinda messed up the voice acting.
Snake:"Is this the first time you ever pointed a gun at a person? Your hands are shaking."
I allways wondered why is there a jail cell and a torture chamber in that place, isn't it meant for processing nuclear waste?
Have you considered that the terrorists were in involved in this?
i love it when snake rages when baker says he forgot the frequency
give this man a thumbs up maybe ONE day
What the hell? Snake would not do that, at 43:00
😷😷😷
WOAH I LOVE THE DEEPNESS OF YOUR ARGUMENT, VERY WELL THOUGHT.
Really?
1:14:18 no! my favorite codec moment. It had so much emotion in the original, with Snake's shock, Colonel's disgust, and Naomi's animosity toward what she's saying. Now it all sounds like they were replaced by robots.
LOL I like how the cutscenes all together can make a movie.
I fucking love how it breaks the fourth wall. "If you use auto-fire, I'll know!"
God, Revolver Ocelot is a badass.
probably a controller that continuously presses a button for you
I can't believe I watched all of that, awesome. XD
Ahhh.....now THIS brings back fond memories....
I like how Baker is the president of Arms Tech, but he only gets a level 2 key card.
The death/speech of Psycho Mantis is the single most shockingly awesome event that I have ever witnessed in video game history. So genuine, so passionate, so...perfect.
"Don't even think about using auto-fire or I'll know."
Best line in the game.
Snake:"Yeah I can't just knock on the door, and ask them to let me in."
I SAW THE ENTIRE 1ST PART. Gonna watch the 2nd part tomorrow. :))
Retcon. This game series is FULL of them.
Yes, most definitely, I concur, here!
The Best Is (always) Yet To Come
David Hayter is a successful screenwriter who doesn't need the money and is one of us when it comes to the metal gear solid franchise, it's easy to understand why he would lower his asking amount.
42:58 What the heck was that animation?
Solid snake got pissed and flip.lol
Ryosuke324 Snake got a vision into the future for a brief moment and saw the Ground Zeroes was being sold for 30 dollars and saw how many people were buying it haha
Revolver WEIRD SOUNDS FOR FOUR MINUTES Ocelot.
@jodetert Thank you, did you watch the whole thing?
Snake:"So, I guess I can call you when I'm ready to go on a diet."
Snake should escape with the help of that ketchup given by otacon.
1:33:04 Classy
1:35:30 Snake lookin like "Bitch gimmie that Desert Eagle" lmao
Back in the day we use to have 3rd party controllers where you could flip switches that made it so the controller would automatically and continuously press a particular button for you, usually at a rate that most people couldn't do physically. They probably still have them now but they're a lot less common.
right as i was loading up a nostalgia critic video, psycho mantis said nostalgic... I'm scared now!
I've read that the reason was because the original voice acting was not recorded in a sound-proof booth.
almost cried .......
how time goes .....
Also, when I first got this far in the original MGS (Ninja), When the ninja said that he "came from another world to do battle with Snake", I actually thought that the ninja was an alien (extraterrestrial/E.T.)
Don't even think about using Autofire or I'll know! hahaha love the fourth wall breakings
"But Snake outsmarts Mantis's mind reading abilities by plugging the controller into the second port"
THAT DOCTOR HAS A MARIO AND YOSHI ON ONE OF THE COMPUTERS! That is hilariously cool!
WOOOOW.... awesome... but i'm just wondering how did you recorded it with this great quality????
I loved this remake. They did quite a good job putting in the best gameplay bits of mgs2 into shadow moses. But bullet time? Snake vaulting off of a missle? Cmon now. That part is just silly. That was the only gripe I had about it. They tried to make it matrixy, and they lost the vibes that make mgs great. A good game, but some parts are lame. Snake is a soldier. A clone. Not neo.
Matrix Gear Solid :-)
The over the top stuff is how otocan explains the story
Snake:"I'm the pawn they sent to save your worthless butt."
I think in Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes the voice actors probably have more emotion when they're eating breakfast.
Nice, thanks dude
If someone is interested, I found a scrapped cutscene in the disc
these are fantastic
awesome man thanks
Snake really knows his parkour.
thank you very much
This is the game that gave birth to Snake and Otacon's friendship! :D
if you look carefully when the ninja has a fit for the first time. you can see mr. x / olga in the ninjasuit in the lightning kind of thing
You sir, are worthy of the codename Boss.
Only Snake could survive a direct tank shot without a scratch!
Cool, how did yoou find this out? I find it amazing how the plots of the games bond with each other
The different songs in each entry of Gray Fox are amazing and exciting... I don't know why it's not on the soundtrack :(
oh the package, brings back memories
I love how these games are connected, i love the fact that mac donald miller is the same person as kaz in peace walker! :)
@Slimepoop I haven't seen any yet but I just watched the cutscene for the Ninja/Snake battle and they all sound less enthused to repeat the lines...jmo
Perfect remake! This should've been in the legacy collection.
Where did the Meryl and Snake shootout animation come from!? That looked just like the quality of Peace Walker!
1:23:11
43:00
Man, snake likes to draw his pistol dramatically.
wow the cutscene with graf fox at bakers is realy nice
I think there were concerns over the original audio not being done in soundproof rooms and the quality of the recording and how much better the sound quality is on PS2/GC/Xbox compared to PS1.
I don't think there are any major problems with the original audio but still.
Speaking as a Music Tech student, I'm sure they could've found a way to reduce the noise of the original recordings
Thanks man, the version I run on the dolphin gamecube emulator crashes on cut-scenes, now I just skip them and watch them here.
the voice actor for gray fox in the original Metal Gear Solid is actually Peter Stillman's actor as well as Darpa Chief's.
whaaaaaat the fuck, i never realised how long the cut scenes took up, love mgs
snake in all metal gear series is one BA soldier sad to say he was only a weapon of destruction love it love all the series played all of'em
Way better than the original cutscenes.
I think the best part is the comic book style cutscenes to make up for lack of gameplay. Are those original or were they found somewhere else?
Agreed, probably because the first game had the benefit of not having to any lip-syncing (just head bobbling).
1:25:00 Mario and Yoshi 8D
Yes, I know they appeared earlier but I'm still watching.
