They are for looks. If you get buy the metal seat without the vinyl you can put a custom foam in it that is better than that cheap stuff in the vinyl ones. You can wrap something over it then do the velour probably. Or else. Before you lay down the velour put extra padding over the vinyl it will help. You can also buy a spring seat post or spring sissy bar to add some bounce it might help
