It's a tough call when you add technology to hunting. You could argue that the long range shooters wound more animals, than in the old 30-30 days. Makes you wonder if that contributes to fewer bIg deer, that wouldn't have died with our old equipment. You could also agree that bow speeds haven't increased much since early 2000's (20fps). But everyone thinks that 70yrds (including me) is the new 45yrd max range. Broadheads have gotten better, IMO. I believe that this is a slippery slope, and relying on our percieved views that technology should be the solution to being a lesser hunter than we could be, is flawed. I 100% agree that what you and others do on social media platforms have made us better informed, and hopefully our equipment is better tuned to aid efficiency. But when does having the latest and greatest gadget end??? I can afford top end gear, but many can't. We need everyone to continue to promote a hunting legacy. Hope we aren't causing a division to push products, that many will never be able to obtain.
Thank you for helping me have and enjoyable lunch hour!! Almost bought a Xero a bit ago, but lived in Montana (illegal), I'm in Alaska now and really thinking about it before next season. Thanks again.
Really interesting discussion on the use of the Garmin sight potentially lowering the wound loss rate. I've always scoffed at having that much tech on a bow. At what point is it no longer archery? It's not legal here in AK anyway, so I don't have a dog in that fight, but your points were valid and thought provoking.
Black eagle shafts are spine aligned as well, there's an arrow. It's not an arrow like Victory has but it is marked, look at the label, you'll see it. Where it has the caution warning to inspect the arrow, thats where the spine is.
This is a petty statement and I don’t like it. Any man can decide how to live their own life. You and anyone else in America can work hard to make their life into whatever they wish in today’s world-we live in a truly remarkable time. The Xero can be used on any hunt in any legal state that you choose to pursue. There are many OTC hunt opportunities to use the Xero. There are plenty of TAC events and fun archery shoots and backyard practice sessions to use the Xero. And for those who wish to have an adventure in places like New Zealand, Mexico, or parts of Canada or Hawaii-there are opportunities to save for those types of adventures which can be had for $2k-$3k. I’m sure there are things you’ve purchased that I would never buy-because I would rather hunt than own a nice truck. I don’t like victimhood culture and this is how your comment sounds to me. Maybe I’m wrong. I want everyone to live the life they dream of-but that takes sacrifice. “You can have anything you want, but you can’t have everything you want.”
Cool podcast here boys. I really like the information that you have offered here and alot make sense. I just want to comment on your thoughts about ranging with or without any form of rangefinder or guessing. Using the Garmin is the best way, I know that it's a expensive toy but we'll worth the money. I've got both generations on both of my Hoyt bows. The thing that sucks for you guys in the United States 🇺🇸 is that not all states don't approve of using the device but the thing is the Garmin does not shoot a beam of light of the laser to range in on the animal so I really don't understand why it can't be used. All your doing is ranging in the yardage and then it's your job to hit the target if you miss it is not the bow it's just you need to practice more. I live here in Canada where and we can use the Garmin Xero can be used from coast to coast. I'm sorry to say that and I do apologize if I offended both you guys but you guys are cool guys and know your archery it just really too bad that you can't use the Garmin Xero there. At the end of the day you guys still rock and keep up the great work boys I really enjoy it 👍
Thank you for this. You are so right and man I wish it was legal across all the states. I respect the laws that each state has and that is not going to prevent me from bow hunting. Stay safe out there and good luck on your next adventures.
No new archery films with Ryan. I’ve never actually filmed Ryan on an archery hunt-we’ve never done an archery hunt together like that. Maybe someday in the future. But I have an archery hunt with Pedro Ampuero coming out that’ll make you laugh your ass off. With some great close-up archery action at its finest!
Brian, what’s up with your not posting anything Locals? The last video/podcast was from Aug 8, 2023. I see you posting a lot of videos of UA-cam but not Locals. If you not going to post anything of Locals then tell us so we don’t have the pay on Locals………
Hang in there on Locals, we have a bunch of stuff coming for you on that platform. We plan to up the value to our Locals supporters. Thank you again from the Gritty Crew.

There are 3 different sizes currently. Regular, Regular Wide and Tall. This bag has a ton of room and very warm.
