Thank you all for the kind comments! We miss our old home because of all the memories and the fun of seeing our dreams come to life, however, life changes and we must adapt and do what works best. We love our “little Ladd cottage” as we call it, but we probably won’t get to enjoy it too long either, since we are transitioning back to Holmes Co. at least part of the year to help take care of my Dad. Hopefully more Fl. in our future too! 😊 Changes and more changes...but God is good and we are Blessed! ❤️
Oh gosh we’re going back and forth from home to home to help with my dad also. He was just readdmitted to the hospital today. So I know how hard it can be. Precious moments while we have them. Enjoy him and love him as much as possible.

Beautiful Home! I love the white mixed with the black-trimmed windows/dark navy front door. What a beautiful view! I grew up in Orlando where my parents renovated an old two-story farm house...even had a tin roof! We lived on a dirt road. The dining room my dad exposed the shiplap, all wooden floors that were beautiful. We had a horse, a baby cow, and some chickens with the cutest chicken coop. My dad grew sooo much citrus; kumquat trees, pink grapefruit, oranges, tangelos, lemons...even a veggie garden, and we had wild raspberries and blackberries in abundance. About an acre past the house, my dad built a “She-shed” for my mom which was used as her sewing room...(she was a great seamstress) and beyond that; wild stag horn ferns, fiddle ferns, Venus fly traps, Pitcher plants...many “medicinal” plants, too. Outside under kitchen sink was my mom’s favorite flower Bush; gardenia. Oh, the smell could fill up the house ~ pink azalea plants bordered the driveway, sycamore trees and oak shaded the house ~ awesome memories of that home. Then, my parents retired, my sister and I got married, and my parents sold the home...unbeknownst to them, to a developer! 😢 And today, the dirt toad is paved, the land has been cleared, the home knocked down, and all four acres covered in cement! It’s an apartment complex!😱😢😱 Farm land similar to ours was bought up, too, and the grazing land for cattle and horses is gone, otters and natural creeks; gone...as well as deer, rabbits, too! Terrible thing; “modernization!” I can remember riding my horse right through downtown Orlando...that was the early sixties, long before Disney! In fact, during those days, on the still nights here in Orlando, long before most even had central a/c, with your windows open you could smell the orange blossoms...even smell fresh baked bread coming from the Merita Bread Factory that was downtown. It’s such a joy to see how nowadays “Farmhouse” decor is so popular. Yet, while growing up ~ that was all there was! Including, fetching a sugary outside treat. Like, cutting down a sugar cane stalk, and gnaw on that all afternoon. 🥰👍❤️ Glad you’ve made Florida your home. Hope you get to take little vacations to see places like; close to my home - New Smyrna Beach. Besides it’s popularity, it’s a very “artsy” town, all the streets near the beach have great art shops/small museums of local artists, and of course wares and crafts made my locals. St. Augustine, and the historic Victorian homes, Sanibel Beach, with the abundance of shells, Destin Beach for the teal-blue water, Blue Springs State Park>the Manatees you can see up close right from the swimming dock where they huddle in, come the Fall. I also hope you eventually travel to The Keys, you gotta have real Key Lime pie!😊And of course, get yourselves a crab basket, tie some chicken inside, and throw that over one of your bridges in Sarasota/St. Pete, where fishing is allowed...Florida’s best Blue Shell crab ~ Delish! Conch chowder and conch salad is mighty good, too! And, you gotta visit Plant City where you can pick strawberries right from the local nurseries or sold in flats or pints from roadside markets. ❤️
Just now watching this video. I LOVE your parents’ beautiful home! Oh my goodness! We are new grandparents, but we also have a son who is a sophomore in high school, so we are praying about what to do once he graduates. I would love to downsize to something like this. BLACK WINDOWS ARE MY ABSOLUTE DREAM…so they did such an amazing job with all they did in the house. Your mom is truly into all of the little details, and it shows. Thank you for sharing!

What a great housekeeper your mother is that someone can come in when she is not there and give a tour of her home and open drawers and doors and there is NOTHING embarrassing, including the pantry, in the whole tour. I loved your description of the chair as being "decently beat-up". I am getting to the age where the way I have been describing myself for the past few years is that I am now "old" but I think I'm just going to start telling people that I have passed my 73rd birthday and I am now "decently beat-up". Decently beat-up sounds sort of...elegant. "Old" just sounds... old.
BTW, you showed us an entire house and I didn't see a television in sight. How refreshing! I actually have two televisions and my service has not worked for about 3 years now so the televisions have not even been turned on. I obviously am not in any hurry to get that service repaired because I can't tell you how freeing it is to not have to schedule my entire life around a television schedule and not have to beat myself up because I totally forgot to set it so a certain program will be recorded. We did not have a television when I was growing up because my dad thought they were an evil influence. I thought he was nuts! Now I think perhaps he was just a few years ahead of his time because much of what passes as "entertainment" today is not fit for a dog to watch. That is the main reason I have not bothered to get my service repaired. Actually, they came in and redid my floors and at that time they unhooked my service and I think it's just a matter of someone hooking the service back up but it really doesn't interest me that much and I find I am doing just fine without it.
I somehow cannot end this without telling you how absolutely adorable Oaklynn is. And she definitely is her brothers' sister. She gets certain looks on her face where she looks exactly like one of her older brothers. You have a beautiful family.

When I look at the views your parents have, it is hard to believe anyone spends anytime indoors! Love the new patio!!! So beautiful!!! But love the inside as well. There really aren't too many home, I would wager, that you could walk in and open any door or drawer and see everything so coordinated and clean and organized. Love the subway tile backsplash and the glass door front on the cabinet and the generous pantry, and love the island and stools. Those stools really look comfy. Love all her little accents. The galvanized metal touches are so welcoming! Love the living room rug and the sectional and the laundry/bathroom too. The chair that goes with the rolltop desk is so unique! Love that! You are right about the black frames on the window. They bring a nice contrast to the white, indoors. Oaklyn is drooling so the teeth must be on the way, but she is still as sweet as ever! She is just adorable. Enjoy! It goes by so fast!!!

Please tell your Mom I'm going to use a LOT of her ideas in my kitchen. My husband and I are being forced to remodel our kitchen her in northern Ohio because we had a MAJOR water leak going on for a few years. We only found that problem when I put my foot right through the kitchen floor last October! So now we're sort of procrastinating because it's just the 2 of us that will be doing the work and we're not looking forward to it. I think our neighbor may be able to help out on the weekends a bit. My husband is 77 years old, so not as spry as he used to be.

Love the space they have turned into their home space ...........beautifully done and I love the white and crisp and clean tidy look of it all! Just beautiful and really all a person needs. It seems the more we collect the more we are bound to tend to it and it eats up precious time caring for "things".............I'd rather tend to people and travel and enjoy life and all there is to loving and living the life we are given.

Oh my gosh! Thank you for this! I LOVE the island with the deep drawers! This is just what i needed to see! We will be buying my grandparents farm and remodeling it in the next few years and the kitchen is kind of small so i was hoping to add an island and somehow incorporate deep drawers for my pots and pans and other stuff!
