I‘m from Southern Germany and so the dialect is quiet similar! I understand most of what you‘re saying! Sometimes I need to hear it twice but then it works! Awesome!! Greetings from Germany!! 🙋🏻‍♀️

I'm from Palatinate (Southern Germany as well) and I feel the same way. Most of the words are used in the exact same pronunciation here. I could listen to you speaking Pennsylvania Dutch for hours, Lynette. It's very interesting! :)

There’s a holy GOD in Heaven, Who created you and I for His glory, but our sins have separated us from Him. the wages of sin is DEATH, but the FREE Gift of GOD is eternal life in CHRIST the LORD. CHRIST died for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. repent, stop living in sin, and believe in the Gospel.

Lynnette, I don’t understand Pennsylvania Dutch, but it’s fascinating too listen to you speak it! You keep your house spotless! I tried keeping mine that way when I was young. Now that I’m old, I don’t I don’t work as hard at everything, yet I admire cleanliness! Your home and your children are always spotless!

I just moved down to southern Maryland which is known for having a bunch of Amish and Mennonite people here. I’m still getting use to seeing a bunch of Amish and Mennonite plus hearing how they speak. Being from the capital Maryland area which is close to dc it’s been very interesting and definitely something I was never use to. But I love it!! They are beyond nice people and super hardworking!!

We lived in Arizona for 8 years. I love the cactus pictures. Texas is real pretty. Where we live cows and horses and fields not too far away. The birds are delightful. Love how you talk out loud. I love your style. Yes praying. I am working on my apartment little bit at a time especially during the times my work is slow.

Erin is right. I used to work on the Whilpool Tech phone lines. The number one reason a dryer wouldn't dry properly is venting. Be sure to check the vent, that it is clean and that it is not to long to vent outside. Also make sure your vent hose is metal and not the white plastic one. The metal one is much safer

Lynette, as for your dryer, make sure all vents are cleaned out...the one that leads outside and the ones you can pull out and clean yourself. Also, are your clothes hot at all? Your heating element might be burned out.

    • @kathydobrzynski9248

Yes. Our vent hose to the outside needed cleaning. We didn't know there was so much in there.

That is what I was going to suggest also if that outside vent is clogged up it will make a big difference! You may want to try and run a wire or something down in the vent where you check when the clothes are done sometimes that can get stopped up with lent also. Heating element would be my next guess.

I attend a Mennonite Brethren church. Up until WW2 all the services were conducted in German. Most of our older members grew up speaking German in the home. Our pastor will still read a passage from the Bible in German at the funerals of some of the older folks.

I am German and living in the Netherlands. So I am speaking both German and Dutch. I can understand you just fine. It sounds like a mixture of both and a bit like the accent in the south of Germany. It was very interesting to hear you speak. I heard a lot about the language but never really heard it spoken a lot. Good idea!

It has actually nothing to do with Dutch from the Netherlands. Back in the days, Dutch was a term for reffering to German speaking Europe including the Netherlands. PA Dutch is mostly based on Palatinate German, so a Middle German dialect with some Upper German influence. Sadly the "Plain" Amish take more and more over English words and phrases whereas the so called "Fancy" PA Dutch speakers stay more pure but the number of speakers of this group is declining rapidly.

    • @annekevandenberge2277
      @annekevandenberge2277 3 роки тому

@sabrina Zeddies exactly my thought! @Karl Petersen although it has nothing to do with Dutch there are Dutch words mixed in there as far as I can hear (I'm 100% Dutch, speak German as well)

@@karlpetersen397 german en dutch are very similair langauges. Dutch en german people can understand each other very well. So dont say p-dutch has nothing to do with netherlands dutch. Theyre all Germanic langauges😃 prettige dag gewenst!

    • @karlpetersen397
      @karlpetersen397 3 роки тому

@@MariPetjari has nothing to do in the sense that it's derived from a different region/variety of German(ic) language. It comes from South Western Germany, a Middle West German dialect. For example the Mennonites, another Anabaptist group, speak Plautdietsch which is very close to Dutch and Low German and has its origin there.

I have been remembering those who were affected by Dorian. Thankfully, we were prepared, but did not have much happen here as opposed to Norfolk and VA Beach. I am so glad you were prepared, but didn't need it! Praise God! I love following your cleaning video's and while I am certainly inspired, I am stuck with not being able to do much as I was diagnosed with Parkinson's and then severe scoliosis since 2014 and 2018. I had to quit teaching and really do miss my little kindergartners, but I find that I'm pretty good at figuring out ways that I can do things in an alternate way. I love your video's and your bible study helps when you are able to share them. Thank you! :)

Two things to check on the dryer, check your vent hose & clean out. Get a THIN BRUSH clean out the dryer vent inside the dryer. Or your heater element has gone up. But Great news dryers and washers are easy to fix. And usally not to pricey.

My dryer does this about once a year. I take the front of the dryer off (after unplugging it) and I clean out all the lint. I also clean out the dryer venting as well. It always works WAY better after I do this. If it's not this, then check the heating element if your dryer is electric. Mine is propane gas. You probably don't need a new dryer yet!

I worked as an interpreter and teacher before I got sick and couldn’t anymore. Because of that I don’t use the language skills a lot now. I still teach Sign language at our homeschool group and I teach my son and 2 of his friends Spanish and French.

About your dryer, maybe check the vent that leads to outside. When mine starts to get clogged up, it takes a long time to dry. I have a wire guard on the exhaust vent outside to keep birds out of it but the wire guard can accumulate lint in it which clogs it. Check it out because it can be dangerous.

Hi Lynette....regarding the dryer. Check the vent hose for a clog. Also, it may be the heating element in the dryer is going bad. The dryer I had in my apartment was similar and had no buzzer either. I purchased an old fashioned kitchen timer from Walmart ( the kind on a "spring"? That you twist to whatever time you need) and used that. Setting it and leaving it on top of the dryer. The bell was VERY loud!!! Worked well for over 9 yrs!

I studied German and English back in Germany and actually once did a term paper on Pennsylvania Dutch! I love listening to you speak it and I do get the gist of what you’re saying. The German words sound more like a southern/southwestern German dialect, but that’s basically where the Amish originally came from, so that makes sense.
Looking forward to more Pennsylvania Dutch videos!

This! Mine was doing the same thing. I knew it was the vent. We bought a kit off Amazon. It's just a brush and "poles" you attach to a drill. Worked great for us! Mine started kind of abruptly. It ended up being a bird trying to build a nest. We have a flap, but somehow it was stuck partly open. Works like normal now! Also when you turn on your dryer try to set a timer/alarm. Maybe have one for your dryer like you would have in a kitchen.

Lynette, I’m sure you know that just removing the lint from the lint trap is not enough. Make sure you “wash” the screen with hot water, soap and a brush. Not every time, but often because fabric softener can plug up the screen and the air can’t flow through.

My dryer started doing same thing, took me forever to get a load dried but found out it was the heating element, they sell them on Amazon so can fix it yourself, I just watched a you tube video of how to do it!! Very inexpensive and easy to install~

I grew up extremely similar to Mennonite, and watching these videos feels like home. We moved out of state, so I don't have any similar church roots here. Every now and then I will see a German Baptist, and I get soo excited to see some "friends".

When my dryer takes a long time to dry we just replace the whole vent leading from the dryer to outside. It's much easier than cleaning it and doesn't cost that much.

I am from Western Gernany ( 1 hour from the Dutch border). I am sure, in you talked a bit slower I would be able to recognize a lot more of the German phrases.
However, at the first hearing (beim ersten Hören) I figured out well known German words - pronounced with the sweet, touching melody of southern/bavarian/austrian/swiss dialect from „good old times“.
My compliments come in German (maybe you understand?): Wunderschönes Haus! Schöne Möbel, sehr geschmackvolle Einrichtung! Und so eine fleißige Frau! Alles Gute!

Lynette, I enjoyed the video....and yes you motivated me to get up and clean....sometimes we just need to see someone else getting it done....have a blessed end of the week ....and yes I am so grateful we didn't get much here in Fl from the hurricane but my heart hurts for those that have been devastated....we definitely need to continue to pray for them....Debbie.

Loved loved loved the video... if I may just make a suggestion...when you do it again with subtitles...maybe leave them up a little longer for us slower readers...but thought it was a great idea...we saw another beautiful side of you...also such an inspiration on all you do in a day ...pregnant! I know being present isn’t a disability but it sure becomes harder to move , bend and keep going as the pregnancy progress. 🇬🇧🙏🏻🙋🏻💕

Lynette, I love hearing Pennsylvania Dutch spoken! I'm from Ohio and I was down in the Holmes County area yesterday. Just a day trip because it's only a 2 and a half hour drive for me. I live up in the Island Area of Ohio and not too far from Cedar Point, but out in the country. As I said, I love hearing your native language spoken. I've been known to stand next to Amish women who are conversing in that language, just to hear it! I've been hearing it spoken for over 40 years now and I never tire of it. I think it sounds pretty and sort of comforting in a way. Don't ever stop speaking it! I spent a lot of my high school years at the home of a German friend. She and her family spoke mostly German at home, unless I was there, then they spoke English to me. And my own Grandfather used to speak and sing in German sometimes. I don't understand German and I don't speak it, so I also don't understand much of what you were saying. But, I'm rather fluent in Pig Latin! LOL!

We have the same washing machine and I would have to say that we share the same "struggle" with ours. I have had clothes come out with a white glaze on it. I have no other word for it. We do not like the "water-saving" part of it. We went with Maytag because that is what our previous was, but we have been very disappointed with it. We have been using the bulky cycle with the full water on it and they seem to come out better. We have only had it a little more than a year, so we can't justify buying another washing machine right now, but it sure is tempting!
I do enjoy watching your videos even though I am an older woman.

I loved hearing the Pennsylvania Dutch :) I was surprised how many English were we slipped n there too lol
We had that issue with a dryer once and all it needed was a new heating element. 🤷‍♀️

Hey Lynette, have you tried washing the screen on your dryer? They can get a soapy buildup that you can't see but it makes it hard for the air to flow through easily, therefore it takes a lot longer for your clothes to dry. If you take it out and pour water in it and the water does not pour out easily it needs washed. Have a great day!

I also hear the German very distinctly. I spent many years there (my dad worked there for 17 years) and I got married in Heidelberg. You are speaking it with what I would call an "American" accent of course, but that is to be expected. I speak German with an American accent, too. LOL I hear a few Dutch words, it's definitely a blend of the two languages. It's beautiful, but I do hear the English words as you are speaking, too. I think it's amazing to learn different cultures....it was the BEST part of all the travels I was blessed with. I've lived in Egypt, Germany, Okinawa, Switzerland, Czechoslovakia and many places here in the US - including in the PA Dutch Country - and I was born/raised in Cincinnati OH as our "home" when we came home from overseas. I am loving your channel Lynette. Blessings!!!!

@@LynetteYoder I noticed the picture of the Cincinnati "skyline" on your living room shelf decor in your new home. You have an absolutely lovely channel, a beautiful family and so many great recipes, discussions/chats, and DIY home ideas. I also appreciate the opportunity to learn so much about the Amish and Mennonite cultures. I don't say religion either - we are all Christians and brothers/sisters in Christ. Blessings to you, Nick and your family!! ~ Jan

I had the same problem with my dryer. It just was terrible drying clothes. I would have to run it through multiple cycles. I had to have a repairman come out at least three times in the first year. I actually had it for awhile and it was out of that first year warranty. I bought it at Home Depot and went back to my sales lady and explained the problem. She gave me a number to call in Atlanta, Georgia and I explained to them my problem. Home Depot refunded all the money I had paid for the dryer. Not the extended warranty folks but Home Depot refunded the money to us. I would buy from them again since they really helped us out - a honorable company. Rare in this world! Give it a try.
