XD, the Yamato has a tech called "Point defense" which as created by TARDIS (aka CharaToLoki), which allows a ship to shoot torpedoes out of the sky, as we saw the Yamato could do in the show. Also, in other news, recently I've done some work on the model and FIXED the issue that caused crashing when the Yamato breaks into pieces, meaning I can turn physical damage back on! YAY! Another thing, I've buffed the weapons slightly and the shields by a bit more, and am currently working on a 2202 refit for the Yamato. I haven't had much time due to recovering from surgery, but ill get back onto it soon. Also need to do the Andromeda, as I already have that model and its textures done. I've also extracted sounds from the show for the andromeda, so that should be implemented into game soon, expect that next. Still need to screw with moving turrets, but like I said, I've been pretty zonked on five medications lol

Space Battleship Yamato has point defense weapons such as pulse laser cannons and anti-missile counter-attack missiles. These are probably what are taking out your photon torpedoes. In addition to her main gun turrets and auxiliary gun turrets (also referred to as shock cannons), she has an array of anti-ship missles and torpedoes, and she carries a wing of fighter craft as well. Lastly, although the ship does rely mainly on armor, she does have a temporary shield called the Wave Motion Shield which basically uses Wave Motion energy which is the foundation of the wave motion gun and is also the foundation of the ship's faster than light drive to produce a temporal bubble around the ship which makes it nearly immune to incoming fire for a short period of time. It is my understanding that she cannot use the Wave Motion Shield and the Wave Motion Gun at the same time. After you get some practice with Yamato, I'd like to see what you could do with it against a borg Cube. I wonder if they would be able to adapt to Yamato's tachyon based weapons from the gun turrets, let alone the Wave Motion Gun. Also, one other thing to be aware of, she retains the ability to fire conventional Battleship shells in gun turrets 1 and 2. They are armor piercing and they're also capable of being set with time delay fuses so they can penetrate deep within an enemy ship or fortification before exploding. The explanation given for why she can't fire her 18.1 inch shells from main turret 3 is because there's no room under 3 for a magazine because that's where the hangar and part of the main engine would be located. Also, Yamato versus the Scimitar would be pretty awesome too.

Like if a Starfleet vessel crew managed their ship perfectly they could use their toolset and complex technology to disable the Yamato but it's a 1 pass/fail test and if you mess up that overwhelmingly powerful Battleship will shatter you. But that's just the feeling I always got Power vs Process

If it wasn't for the wave motion gun I would request you put Battleship Yamato up against the non-Federation Battlestar Galactica. Yamato's space tech modified 18 inch naval guns vs Galactica's (rail?) naval guns. A true battleship vs battleship fight. Though with the wave motion gun we can still put up against the Federation modified one. Just need to fix that pesky torpedo vanishing glitch first.
The Yamato's main guns fire ether 18" shells or pulsed plasma, and the Yamato (2199) has Wave Motion Shields. RDM's Galactica's only edge is it has more fighters and it's jump drive. But then again, the Yamato faced down 3 Gamilon carriers worth of planes that utilized something like Star Trek's transporter.
Just wait until the 'Andromeda' from the SBY universe is available. That thing has 2 wave motion guns, besides that it is a great looking ship. According to SBY canon I believe the wave motion gun creates millions of quantum black holes which immediately evaporate into Hawking radiation which is then collimated into a beam, so yeah it should be ludicrously powerful.
ding ding ding! It creates them by folding 3D space into itself via higher dimensional string theory. It also has refit and much more powerful convergent compression-type shock turrets as well as its graviton burst cannons which are insanely powerful. The Andromeda's Divergent Wave Motion Guns are even more powerful than the one on the Yamato, and the shields are a bit stronger. I have her model ready, I just have to hardpoint her and create her weapons.
The Wave Motion gun of the Yamato can destroy small planets and artificial suns. Pretty sure the Enterprise D is no match for the Yamato if they get a chance to use the Wave Motion gun.
I can help you some RBG, I saw quite a bit of the Anime. The worst place to be when facing the Yamato is the bow, because she was originally a WWII battleship. Her biggest guns are designed to fire forward. Plus, as you saw, her main gun makes the Galaxy X's phaser lance look like a spring shower. She does have a row of smaller guns to port and starboard. The best attack is get in close, on either her aft or ventral, where her blind spots are. If all else fails, her main gun should require a long recharge period, so if you can doge the first blast you're safe for a little while. And like the others said, only use torpedoes at close range, because of the Point Defense system.
I'm surprised that the wave motion gun could hit you moving sideways. As for your torpedoes, I think it was a glitch (maybe it was Q). 😄 As for the SBY, they do have countermeasures against torpedoes, but they only work at close range. They fire a spread of rockets that explode into a web that intercepts incoming projectiles.
I also think that the best way to evade the WMG would be with swift, lateral movement, considering the charge time needed to lock on and fire the weapon while also stabilizing the ship. To counter it, the SBY has the huge 3x3 shock cannons (and the 2x3 secondary shock cannons), the antiship missiles, bow-mounted torpedoes, the AA cannons that can track and destroy incoming missiles, and the antimissile missiles as well. And of course, the wave-motion energy can also be used for the Wave-Motion Shields, which are pretty much impenetrable, while still allowing the SBY to use all of its own weaponry (except the WMG, of course).
I liked the shock cannons in the 2010 movie even more than in the cartoon. The earth ships couldn't penatrate the Gamalon battleship shields until the SBY. When they fired their shock cannons, it ripped through the ship like a hot knife through butter... even the crew couldn't believe it. 😀
There's a glitch somewhere there, either with the game mod or battleship Yamato. If you can find and fix it we gotta have the Yamato vs Yamato rematch.
The SBS Yamato IS a very powerful ship but is also protected by the thickest plot armor available… But that also depends on which series/movie version being used. And why were the USS Yamato’s torpedoes disappearing??
Idea: Enterprise mashup 2 teams 4 ships each Original Connie, B, E, & G A, C, D, & F Or some variation there of. The point being if a team gets 1 weaker ship you get 1 better ship to compensate

SBY Yamato have these little guns on the sides that act as AA guns. This also act as Missile and Torpedo interceptors. As well as her Shock Cannons. If you don’t get within 2000km to launch Torpedoes Yamato can intercept it. Her AA have good range. Afterall she able to deal with 15,000 of Gamilion ships on her own. Despite she was not definitely design for that. Not to mention she also have her own Torpedo launches and fighters.
Because of their god level wave cannon, and nothing else to write home about: the Yamato is a glass cannon. By the way, theres an awesome (in my opinion) live action movie of the ship you can watch free on UA-cam. I believe you can find both dubbed and subtitles versions. How about... I can't remember the name exactly, Pirate Captain Harlock. There's a cool ship in that one.
Ok, so a Galaxy Class has various torpedoes and phasers. The Yamato has shock cannons witch can fire plasma energy bursts OR 18" shells, laser CIWS, broadside torpeopes, stack missiles (think of longer range torpedoes), a fighter squadron, AND the Wave Motion gun.

I personally reckon that you'd need to employ warp strafing in order to defeat the space battleship Yamato in a regular Galaxy-class.
