- No joke, the music of HALLOWEEN is scary AF. Let's be honest, Michael Myers is the last person you want creeping around your house at night. Released in 1978, the music of this iconic horror film has been haunting people's dreams for decades. John Carpenter's simple theme fulfills our dark desires to be scared. In this video I'll break down the music theory behind Halloween's music. 5/4 time signatures, modulation, power chords, repetition and development, dynamics, ostinatos and more! I can confirm from an interview I heard, that John Carpenter is a metal fan.
It's true, he is a fan!
I can confirm....I was the interview
John Carpenter is the master of simple yet suspenseful movie scores.
Halloween, The Thing, Christine, The Fog. Long since been a favourite. The only movie theme I love more is Don Coscarelli’s Phantasm theme
Agreed man, although it’s import note the Thing’s score was done by Ennio Marricone of the Good the Bad the Ugly fame. It shocked me when I found out because that score of all scores sounds most like John Carpenter and yet it wasn’t even his!
@@thetribalist6923 I had forgotten about Enio Moricones involvement
Learned this about 30 years ago.👍😁👍
Matter of fact since I watch TV, and movies with a Guitar in My hand....I have lost count of all the theme songs of shows, and movies I have learned.
Beauty and emotion in simplicity.
6:28 Adding in your distorted guitars is the icing on the cake 😊😊
ENJOYING this new branch for the channel!!!!!
It's really great!
It being composed so long ago yet it could fit perfectly in a modern day horror. Timeless! Awesome breakdown mate 👌🤘
I got into making music via synthwave (John Carpenter, Carpenter Brut, Perturbator, Volkor X). Its so cool to see you teach off a track like this!
Shred, what are your top 20 favorite classical pieces of all time?
That's a great song. I hope you do a breakdown of 'Tubular Bells" from The Exorcist. I watched a woman do that cover on the guitar and needless to say, I subbed.
Shred master rocks!
I love your videos, Scott!!
I'm too puss to watch horrors regularly but the scariest I've seen had got to be The Void, 2016
Exorcist is also scary evil piano music.
I prefer the music from the shining
It start out heavy and forboding. This soon leads to unease and anxiety. After a minute or two it progresses to “what the f*** am I listening too.”
The memorable music from the shinning was written by an old composer named Bela Bartok. From his piece, “music for strings, percussion and Celeste.” Amazing stuff
Most definitely Halloween theme song is the scariest. And then Nightmare on Elm Street second. The children voices sounds creepy. 1,2 Freddy is coming for you.
how about a full horrortheme-compostion-tutorial, maybe 3 different ways with 3 different results...do you already have a channel-opening-soundtrack?
Check out the theme for Lucio Fulci's Zombi! Best horror theme ever! 🧟♂️
Looks look like zakk wylde, plays like him (your amazing)
Hellraiser enough said.
Dude you have a UA-cam channel? That's The gibson less paul you got after the fishing trip ...
That's the Guitar from the money from Arizona .
Can you shred on Piano like Nicky Hopkins?
I read that Carpenter is a fan of Metallica's black album🫣. Hopefully, he likes their First 4 classic albums MORE🤘🤘
Hello. I am a 15 yr old kid who loves metal. I want to play guitar but I am confused whether I should go with an electric or an acoustic. Any suggestions?
Dude, start with acoustic, it's much better for the conditioning of your fingers, acoustic guitars are harder on your fingers which will help in the long run, there's other benefits to it when you switch to electric after acoustic, it seems easier to transition that way as opposed to vice versa
@@RickJames-wf2rm Alright Thank you
super
its a hunters moon!
I once read somewhere , that the band Coil, was to do the Hellraiser music. Later those in charge deemed it to scary for the movie. I had a Coil tape way back n it didn't seem that scary to me. Electronica stuff.
escape from new york is john carpenters best imo. I love halloween's music tho as well.
Look at Ewan Dobson version
Terror
True, but Jay WOULD Definitely take myers if they ever

Hey Shr🎸d, if you haven't already would you talk about Metallica's Best concert and the best performance of 🔔z from their Seattle 1989 concert🎸🤘🤘
"Music of Halloween is scary". No shit. Cause I'd expected it to be a shredding solo.
Why brooding over darkness when there’s light. I dont buy this stuff
