Oh I loved this rendition how great ! I remember this song from the seventies, It was sung in the car by my family & I {The four of us } when it came on the radio, on a 90 min car trip to a wonderful place, where could sit on the sand (With a wonderful spread of food and drinks lovingly prepared by my mother} by the water go fishing, from a small rock wall which boardered a winding water inlet, swimming, the beach was calm water to walk along and also be surrounded by green tree'd hills whilst looking out to the ocean. Happy memories.
I did not know this , nor the sublime musicians who accompany him! A heartfelt thanks to the author of the video .... wonderful ....as long as these artists are still around, all is not lost! And not all of us are stoned
It's very impressive how Vince Giordano can instantly switch from string bass to bass saxophone and continue right on pitch and in time. And ditto with the switch back to string bass.
Most probably do not know of Marty's family and their contribution to immigrants here in the US. A guy who never saw him a non-attached pickup mic in any of his performances...Respect him so much in all of our musical lives that we may care to post concerning his the in musical stuff that is just the way he thought it should be performed...God Bless Marty in my mind for sure...
@@philruscak2109 This is a Fats Waller Original. Because swing improvising, rhyme and rhythm has influence/roots in swing hip hop is related. But I agree swing with it happiness far surpasses hip hop, and like hip hop
Great solo by Vince on the Bass Sax, starting on a sixth interval in the C chord, I think, (note A on the Bass Sax), making for unusual and interesting phrasing.
It doesn’t get much better than this. This music should be played to some of the clowns who think they’re music makers (Bieber, Gaga, assorted rap fools) to tune them into what classic music really is. This song has been around for almost 85 YEARS! and is still being played and enjoyed. See how much rap-crap will be around in even eight years. Wait...forgive me....I’m comparing apples to oranges. This is M-U-S-I-C. The others are noise. Thank you for the video. Wonderful.
I understand Marty tunes his guitar in 5th's? Bb,F,C,G,B,D. That makes it a more of a stand out instrument as far as chords are concerned. Very powerful. Karl Cress used a special tuning on his guitars also.
I was privileged to hear Marty Grosz twice, and I'll never forget it. He inspires me in so many ways.

I will never forget the evening, when he played in my club in Düsseldorf - DR. JAZZ with Bob Haggart doublebass (1991)
Wat een gezellige sfeer en de muziek van vroeger.
That folks ,is entertainment. And talent. And style.

Great to hear and see Marty Grosz and band in such marvellous form. A real pleasure.
What a sweet, light-toned statement of love , beautifully expressed by Marty and by all 3 saxophone stars .
10 out of 10! Super!
Absolutely true, Robert!
Four excellent musicians!
Met Vince at Bix Fest in Iowa. What nice guy and a great musician!! It was there that I became a fan of the soprano sax. Nice post of a great tune! NH
Great musicians!! This is how it should be done.

I would have paid good money to hear him and Leon Redbone do a few sets together!

Thank you for sharing.
Ha! I just learned this one from Steve Goodman's version. These old songs are THE most fun to sing and play. Nice selection.
Very nice version of this theme of jazz.
one of my favorite versions with that of "Fats Waller" and that of the Swiss group "New Orleans Hot Shots."
Marvelous! Pretty touchy!
