This year has brought massive change for so many people around the world. Everybody has been affected by this pandemic, wherever you live and whatever you do. For the live music fans, we miss that energy, that connection. Shows and Distancing, my third album and first live album, has arrived at a time where I hope at least some sense of relief and nostalgia can be provided to you.
Recorded throughout last year on the road in the USA, this record takes you through support sets with Justin Hayward (Moody Blues), headline shows, a live duet from Los Angeles and even excerpts from my first ever headline concert from over the pond. New York, Florida and California, three of my favourite places. I hope to return soon!

We living in era that guitar player like this is underrated. He is whey better than some legend guitar players ever existed.
After a long break from playing guitar, this has given me the courage to quit for good.
This second song really brought back the kid in me. I was staring at the screen in awe, with open mouth, absorbed into what I was listening to. Like a kid being so much into a cartoon that the world around doesn't exist anymore.

It's insane how crisp and clean his hammer on and pull offs are! Has to be one of or if not the best acoustic guitar player I have ever seen play! It's just ridiculous how good you are Mike!

As a guy who has seen some of the cream of the crop players, Lanny Seals, Mike is the very best.
Also, I've been playing guitar for 55 years, so I do know a thing or 3. I am a fan of Mike Dawes. Full stop.
I had the VERY good fortune to see him with Tommy Emmanuel at the Coach House out here in SoCal in mid-December 2022. What a show!
I consider myself extremely fortunate to have seen and met Mike in Providence, R.I. when he opened for Justin Hayward (Moody Blues). I was blown away by his dexterity on the fretboard, very reminiscent of Eddie VanHalen's querky sounds.
Amazing player, with long/thin fingers like Robert Johnson. He was really down to earth, and I was thrilled to get his CD signed, before he becomes "unreachable" to the public.

I love watching virtuosos and no matter how good the guitar player, I'm still always amazing at how clean you play. Don't get me wrong, as a musician and audio engineer, I understand the hours that go into being this good without mistakes....but still.....I can't get over how clean you play and how composed you are when pulling of difficult techniques constantly. Your arranging and style are amazing, you're phrasing and dynamic stability are impeccable, and I just can't get enough. Thank you and keep doing you brotha. Much love.
Where I was born the locals often used understatements. To give an example: when somebody asked if the food had been tasty, one would answer: "I didn't have much problems to get it in". And the music? Well, I'm impressed, and that's an understatement!
Without the aid of video, one would think they were hearing a guitarist, a bassist, and a percussionist on stage. Phenomenal!

The music is really beautiful, but until you see him playing you really have no idea of how it's being done--it's so physical and intricate. I saw Mike play in Nashville a couple of weeks ago and was blown away. I'm really glad these videos are available to watch over and over. Eddie Van Halen was a master technician of electric guitar and now we have Mike Dawes who is a master technician of acoustic guitar, like Eddie who pulled sounds from his instrument nobody else conceived possible.

Not much gives me goose bumps anymore until my ears met Mike Dawes. Close you eyes and listen, imagine you hadn't seen Mike play on stage. The array of sounds you're hearing can't possibly be made by one person. So crisp and creatve. Thanks for the performance Mike!

Simply an amazing acoustic guitar player! Mike is the perfect example of putting a guitar in the right hands!!! I don't play acoustic but I really appreciate watch those who play it, I play old school heavy metal, Metallica, etc... I am 57 years old and who I looked up to when I started learning guitar was Country blue grass artist Roy Clark!! Then I heard Jimi Hendrix and dropped the acoustic quickly and bought a electric guitar and haven't looked back ever since. Each generation has a musician that stands out from the rest and I believe Mike is on his way to achieve that!! Sky is the limit my friend, kick a hole in the sky!! Keepin an eye on you!!

I have followed one other guitarist whose work was/is far afield of the “expectations” most have for the acoustic instrument.
When Michael Hedges passed away, he left a realm of the art unoccupied or only partially filled by a few artists.
I can now say that you have not only inhabited that neglected realm, but are expanding Michael’s “Aerial Boundaries.” You wear the mantle gracefully, Mike. The gentleness you exude when playing is sheer stillness. Carry on! I’ll be listening.
