Cheers buddy this one needs to go off for paint in the new year then I can crack back on with my cars. Loads to do so thanks for supporting the channel!
Hi Marc, thanks for a great episode. Simple but still interesting and enjoyable for both the content and your sincere personality. Please keep faith in yourself, well done!
Brilliant to see this type of video again Marc. Loved it. I'm going to be doing a similar job on my one so looking forward to seeing the next installment! Happy days!
Yes very aha also odd as well. The poor old thing has definitely had some repairs in its life but it’s time to chop it all out and start again now. Cheers 👍
I get the short term benefit of oversills but really speaking it just means you have to do the job twice, I wouldn't have bothered and done it right first time. I bet James is looking forward to next summer, getting some B road blasts in again.
Yea for sure the short term benefit is that the car didn’t get scrapped and has been enjoyed ever since so it sort of has saved the car but they are a right pain to deal with. More coming soon. Thanks for watching 👍
Great video Marc nice to see the OG workshop again .. I've done that same repair on my 87 . The panel I had came with the inner and outer cill with it made the job so much easier
Marc, great to see you working from home on this one although I appreciate it must be pretty rough during the winter. James’s Mayfair is gaining strength every video now! (Were they all 1275s?)
Yes it’s like being back in the old days now. That’s the plan to keep adding some fresh steel into this car and then it will be back to how it should be once again. All SPI minis where 1275’s yes so after 92 all minis where. Cheers
My mini has oversills. Ive owned the car 2 years and it has been great in every other aspect but I know I need to get them removed and replaced with proper vented sills asap. Im dreading the cost of it. Quite honestly I didnt know what an oversill was when I bought it. Well I do now 🙈😄
It’s definitely something that’s worth having removed if you can. The costs can be expensive for sure. If the car isn’t showing rust issues then you can run it until the time suits you to sort it. Thanks for watching 👍
Thanks Peter. No I don’t tend to put them back in it doesn’t take away from strength and 80% of mini owners don’t ever Jack up from there away but obviously it’s a personal preference. 👍
That’s up to the owner and whoever is doing the work. This is just typical mini problems. Also a new shell is over 10 thousand pounds so you try to save what you have.
Getting there slowly but surely 👍👍
Those oversills certainly made a mess. Great to see its getting done properly now 👍. Another mini being saved 😀 👍.
Great to see the Mayfair works videos back again and great to see that motivation and drive back with you again too. Great progress again bud.

Wow the damage those oversills caused is horrendous! You are making great progress on the old girl! Great video fella.
Thanks buddy they aren’t a nice thing for sure. But hopefully I can get that floor in soon.
Nice to see the driveway in action again. Fair amount of rot on the floor before you cut it all out.
Yeah it’s a little odd as well aha but yes the rust should be gone soon and some fresh still in there..

Thanks buddy i appreciate the comment. More to come on this one 👍
I weirdly love you being back on the drive mate! Seems more homely (pardon the pun)!
Aha it does have its pluses that’s for sure 👍

Well there is plenty of that coming! Thanks for watching 👍
very nostalgic back on the driveway love it , people should be slapped to that think oversills are an answer on a mini,
Yes very aha also odd as well.

Thanks buddy yes you can get it with the sill attached. The only reason I haven’t done this is we already have the sills.
@@SimpsonsClassics I might need it for the mpi so I'm not complaining 😂 minimine might be getting a call soon as the Irish suppliers have dried up
@@johndaly2180 aha no worries buddy. Panels should be available to you all in the new year 😉

Great content and workmanship as always Marc, is your preference to reinstate jacking points? Will be a lovely Mini, Pete’s a lucky chap.
Thanks Peter. No I don’t tend to put them back in it doesn’t take away from strength and 80% of mini owners don’t ever Jack up from there away but obviously it’s a personal preference. 👍
At what point is it would you reshell a mini in stead of welding it?
At the point where money is no object!

This being James’s first car it’s worth saving new shells aren’t cheap
@@SimpsonsClassics i didnt know shells costed so much thanks for the response
@gamerwhipup yes unfortunately they really aren’t cheap 😞
