i agree with another comment those fnr transaxles are junk, the good news is it's not that hard to swap in a peerless or spicer, as for the jd my problems with the spicers always came from the input gear, the bearings would wear out on the input shaft and cause the gear to be misaligned and then strip out
So I tried this but my pulley didn’t have the same size hole on the other side and it won’t slip over the shaft did you have to drill yours out or do I need to try and find one with a big hole on the other side
My son made a yard machine with 6 in pulley on front and 2in pulley on back goes about 40 mph which is to fast for the steering, hard to control. Note u can always mount a extra pulley to frame as an idle pulley if belt is to long.

it double to about 12 mph, thanks for watching.
I think there is a saying about oil filters like that one when the filters rusty the oil probably is too!
Yes, that oil filter is past its expiration date, probably by about 20 years... Thanks for watching.
Did you use the stock pulley in the back
Yes, we did not touch the back pulley system. I did on another Troy Bilt and it was not very consistent. I don't recommend it. thanks for watching.
Thats what we are going to do to ours thank you for the idea
What does drilling in the shaft do for it?
There was a no key on that end of the pulleys, the bolt takes the place of the key. Thanks for watching!!
Would I need a new belt if I flopped the pulley or should it be ok
You would need a new belt. I did get luck on one of mine. I changed the front and the back and the stock belt worked. If you change just one, you will need a new belt. Thanks for watching.
I have. A John Deere L110 hydrostatic trans it has same pulley setup on front will the work or blow the trans?
You can try, but I hear it not too good on hydros...
How did you get the flywheel not to spin when you took the pulley off?
I ran a bolt through it, thanks for watching.
Did yours fit snug or loosely when u flipped it
mine is the same size on both sides, is yours? Good luck on it.
i agree with another comment those fnr transaxles are junk, the good news is it's not that hard to swap in a peerless or spicer, as for the jd my problems with the spicers always came from the input gear, the bearings would wear out on the input shaft and cause the gear to be misaligned and then strip out
We will see how long it last, I am sure it will get a fair beating. thanks for watching.
Hey😳!!! If you were to install a much larger pulley on the crankshaft if you get your D.L revoked you will still have transportation to work 🤔👍!
So true, I have one that does 44 mph, that should get me to work on time. Thanks for watching.
@@chud327 how did you get one to go 44?
You better make that boy wear a helmet on that mower lmao. Shes probably doing 10-15 mph. That aint safe
I do 33 with no helmet and I’ve never got hurt
@@r.i.parthurmorgan5168 till something goes wrong and you bust ya head open
yeah, he could use a helmet. thanks for watching.
That is fast! Be safe and thanks for watching.
Lets hope not, thanks again.
Hello, did you change the pulley at the back?
Not on this kind, only changed the front pulley. thanks for watching.
So I tried this but my pulley didn’t have the same size hole on the other side and it won’t slip over the shaft did you have to drill yours out or do I need to try and find one with a big hole on the other side
I didn't have to drill mine, you may have to drill or find a different one. Thanks for watching!!
My son made a yard machine with 6 in pulley on front and 2in pulley on back goes about 40 mph which is to fast for the steering, hard to control. Note u can always mount a extra pulley to frame as an idle pulley if belt is to long.
sounds dangerous and I have done the extra pulley idea. thanks for watching and keep him safe...
Great content! Love the speed.
Thanks so much and thanks for watching. That was a quick, easy, and cheap experiment. I love videos that come together that quick and easy.
Oh i know thats right, backwoods hik is giving me all his mower stuff for free, i started a video on picking it up and it all went wrong, so i look fwd to the video that goes quick and easy. Thanks for keeping the videos coming.
I will be looking for the video, even when things go wrong... Cool when people give you stuff.
I wanna do this with my dad but he says $200 for a riding mower on Craigslist is too expensive. That's pretty cheap for a ride mower
Johnny the the country boy I paid $50 Canadian for the one I got
Bro buy one that doesn't run and clean the carb... I bought 2 for $70
You should try to take the small pully of and replace it with one the same size as the other pully then you can go fast and have your PTO still be the same speed.
Extreme lawn mowing!!
can you do that to a 15 HP JOHN DEER LAWN TRACTOR do you know if its the same? Thanks other videos said they won't run if you do gov- or piston fall out or you have to do more work on it. never did it.
Should work fine, but your mower might be different. Piston or gov should be fine as long as you don't turn it too hard... thanks for watching.
Can stock belt be used again or needs different belt?
@@blurmike2538 will need a longer belt, thanks for watching
@ thanks for responding what is the belt sizes I need have similar mower of yours
I have done so many I can remember specifics on each mower, but I did a troy bilt (Troy #5) like this and I think I told the belt sizes in the video.
The rear trans axles have shift keys that when put through the ringer just sheer or chip away replace them and the problems fixed
If you are talking about where the rear tires go on the axle, then no keys. The FNR's have flat spots on the axle and wheel that get rid of the keys. Thanks for watching.
Is this lawn mower hydrostatic?
no it a manual FNR trans. Thanks for watching.
What speedometer app do you guys use???
I looked further down and found the answer!! Thanks
Thanks and I am glad you found it.
