I just want to say, I know some of the balconies are the wrong height and the windows are the wrong colours - it annoyed me while editing! It'll be fixed when I share to the gallery for the pack release

My landlord sometimes gets yelled at for using the shared kitchen space in the hotel. The first was when he moved in after the current tenants. I kicked everyone out including the landlord and then moved him in first. I didn't have the problem again for several "sim days". Then I tried to do a potluck using the big upstairs tenant's apartment. I sent the landlord to cook his food in the shared kitchen since his apartment was blanked out during the event. That's when he got yelled at for cooking again. Any ideas anyone?
James said they kind of made it so that you have to be a good landlord and I felt a modder somewhere in the world sit up with a million ideas on how to bring slumlords to the sims 😂

We could say that the hotel has an official and pretty classy name but because the flamingo thingies and it being pink, locals started to call it The Pink Flamingo and rest was history 😂

I feel they should've gave a little more to pools, especially with the new pool party.
Like the new bar could've been a pool bar, pool games/activities, curved/round and above ground pools. Rather than just one lounge floatie.
But that's just my opinion.
Oooh a pool bar and pool games would have been cool! A basketball hoop you could put in the pool or like a volleyball net. I feel a basketball hoop wouldn’t require that much reworking from the original hoops we have
I was thinking pool bar too! But that came with hotels in sims 3, so i think they will make an extra pack for it
When you mentioned adding in kitchens to the hotel rooms later it made me think of the tiny kitchenettes that some hotels have. Like they don’t have a full kitchen but just microwave, mini-fridge, coffee machine type situation. Might be a fun addition
This is such a dumb thing to be excited about, but I'm so stoked there's finally a bike rack debug item?? The other day I rebuilt the science lab from get to work and was trying to make a decorative parking lot and i ended up using some random metal fencing and just trying to make it look like a bike rack lmao
This needs to be the next expansion honestly in a Vegas like city. We should be able to hire staff and a bellhop and hosts and service rooms.
I love that idea but a Vegas style world would need casinos and I don’t think EA would add those to the game
I want non-American worlds but a Vegas style world would be soooo good!

@@mejhdhhicbfshihids652We can pee and whoo hoo in the same bush. We can spy on people now and blackmail them for money. We have alcohol, it’s just called ‘nectar’. I think that a casino pack, maybe with some elements cleaned up, isn’t too out there. We already have card games possible in the game and several table tops.

Using the debug buildings from a pack as a reference is a valuable skill that I learned from James a while ago that genuinely improves my game experience!
Honestly in Indonesia it is VERY common to have trees on the parking lots to provide shades as it can get quite, ahem, sunny here. So your tree placement totally tracks. Sometimes the trees grow so big the roots break down the pavement/concrete around it and then you'll have to maneuver over lumps of roots and broken blocks. Good times.
I am so unbelievably excited for your For Rent LP. I can't wait to see what kind of landlord Laird will actually be. (Is it terrible that i sort of hope she at least has a phase of being a bit of a slumlord? 😂)

The colorful plants you placed outside and were saying hoe much you like them, with the vibrant colors (20:45) from debug are actually from Island Living in the regular catalog :)
Yeah a lot are from island living, there's some new ones from this pack too :)
There's an old 1960's children's book called The Pink Motel. The guests are a magician, wood carver, artist, and two "gangsters". This build is giving me that vibe 😂

Since you’re all about apartments/hotel builds ATM, how about trying to tackle the Madonna Inn?!
Every room has a different theme and you can use your wheel to spin for a theme!! This hotel was pink so it made me think of it but the Madonna Inn is still incredibly different.
This pink hotel reminds me so much of a movie called The Grand Budapest Hotel. (Really great movie. I highly recommend y'all to go and watch it) I would love to see someone turn the hotel building from that movie into a building in The Sims 4 🤩 Set that aside, I think this build is amazing as always! ☺
I can't explain it, but the world and this hotel give me Sims 2 vibes and it comforts me. 🌴😌
I applaud you trying to show how the hotel system could work within the confines of the pack. 😅 Before I had dine out I use to always do publicly accessible kitchens in ‘lounges’ and ‘bars’ that were specifically designed in the manner of restaurants in the pack and I selectively placed grills as well so there was a place to get food. I got dine out during the sale just so I could go back and properly turn all those venues to proper restaurants where my sims didn’t cook their own food. Sucks simple restaurants are stuck behind a pack paywall.
I hope we do properly get a hotels kit or stuff pack or something that allows things like room service, maid service, and full service kitchens. All the mechanics are there scattered throughout the packs just behind walls that don’t allow them to all work together. And while mods are cool to manipulate the system, it is always nice when everyone has access to it via in-game mechanics.
It took me until you finished furnishing the gym to realize that I've already watched you play on this lot. Oops.

So no functional elevators? Very disappointing... missed opportunity like the amount of lots and size of them in this pack..

I love the idea of using debug houses to build the shell of houses. I struggle so much with building, I’m much more of a furnisher. That is helpful!
I watched the Let's Play of this, but was looking forward to build video as well. Great you showed off how we could use the rent system like a hotel. We really need proper hotels at some point!
I laughed so hard at 20:22. So the pink flowers are called Lotus. They are a type of aquatic plant native to Asia, very common in China and Vietnam, and usually need to be in muddy water to survive :)))

The fact that this is The Pink Flamingo and not The Pink Elephant feels like a serious branding issue. JAMES. SERIOUSLY. It's on the front of the building, AND beside the check-in for Pete's sake.
I feel like a couple of game tables might be a nice addition to this hotel
Once I saw that James was able to change the stairwell and top space to his unit only, I thought how this pack was literally for him, so he doesnt have to argue about contant door locking throughout every video!! 🤣🤣
This is exactly how I would use the pack.. to make hotels. The team obviously encourages it, with being able to have 1 day leases, but all they sell the pack on is apartments. I suppose it's because if they called it apartments and hotels, people would complain that there wasn't a check in and out feature. And that would be soooo hard to add. 🤔
And then they couldn't sell a hotel & resort pack separate. Makes me want to wait and save my money.

My theory is cars are coming and that’s why they have to be outside even though they aren’t functional . Whenever we get the update they’ll be usable

All this worry about making a fancy hotel and doesn't remember a key features of fancy hotels! The fancy bar. How are your guests going to enjoy a good time and splurge money without a couple of expensive cocktails? Not to mention with all the pink, elefante carvings and a bar the Hotel could have been called Pink Elefants, since seeing pink Elefants is an expression for being drunk.
Why cant we get create a world? I don't like that all the towns are through them. Id rather research my own towns that i have in mind based on real places and making them the way i want, only prioritizing the places id actually want my sims living in. The problem with the devs doing it themselves is they try to serve as many people as possible with a town based on a generalized idea of the places they're based on. Like for example say they make a Californian town, some people might want the hood where it's more GTA feeling, others might want old Hollywood, some might want universal studios, others might want palm springs.... Instead we get a simple California town that's just a town without anything special about it or what individual people want.
I just want to make my own world with my own businesses and neighborhoods in them. Also besides create a world, id love if they'd make townies stay in the towns they live in. It's emersion breaking to see a sparkling celeb walking around in a rundown area..... Why they built the sims 4 to be like that i'll never know >.>

For some reason I stopped playing around a year ago but watching you build this hotel/apartment and hearing about the For Rent pack…I feel the Sims itch returning.

I do wish some objects that require personnel (bar, stalls) would auto spawn a person when you go. A bar would have been awesome!

I’m so excited to use this pack for my hotels. I was hoping to use my butler like hotel staff and he’ll constantly be there and help out in the property 😂 probably doesn’t work like that but yeah

I don't understand why there is nobody talking about the amount of landscaping that's exactly the same or just a recolor of island living.. the trees and greenery that James is putting in 20:27 forward are the exact same (the pink one, the little orange, the huge tree, it's the same and no one is talking about this). The Sims is reusing stuff and charging again for something that we already have.
The huge palm trees, the one's with some fruit in it, there's so much similarity that I'm disappointed
It looks like they just grabbed jungle adventure and island living, made a mix and this is what we got...
They aren’t “official” items though, debug and live edit stuff is used in multiple packs all the time, it’s nothing new. I just wish they’d put that stuff in the regular catalog

I kinda agree and I think that’s why the name just ended up being “For Rent” because you can rent condos, hotel rooms, and apartments lol The pack name is pretty ambiguous tbh

it's a new Lot type called Residential Rentals. They work on any lot, in any world... except for the current apartments, the penthouses and the water front lots in sulani.

really apreciate the use of both toilets in the bedrooms, since the squat toilet is not very accecible (even if we don't have disabilities in the game)

Actualy if tomorang is based in SEA or Indonesia. This kinda hotel called kost kostan, we have shared living room and kicthen , gym and dining room, sometimes swimming pool. But we rented like monthly. Its everywhere in jakarta. I live in one

I couldn't careless about playing this but even if i was id be turned off once James said it was designed to make you "a good landlord". I'm not aspiring to be a slumlord or anything like that, but i hate how they take away options for people to be however they want to be in this game. It's people's prerogative how they run their sim world. I hate the coddling atmosphere they have.

A microwave sitting on top of a mini fridge is super realistic (at least in the US) and would make the rooms worth more too.
Question, I have a an apartment with 12 rooms. Can I go up to 12 or it only maxed is 6???
I only get money from the fines, and helps me getting by. Just make sure you have some rules they can break.
i hope i could see some of the rent functions and how to rent and so on in action, but all we got was 45 build mode without anything special. Thats disapointing
