The Abzan are a lot cooler than I originally thought. Didn't know they cared so much about unity and family and their ancestors. Can't wait to see the Sultai!!!
They're my favourite Tarkir faction. Anafenza and her cousin were amazing heartwarming. Pity Dragons of Tarkir took that away.
Doing them an injustice talking so negatively about their black mana. Without it, you don't get the kin tree sprits. Ancestor worship isn't some witches dropping newts in their cereal to the Abzan. Black mana is important in bridging the gap between life and afterlife, an especially important ability to have on a plane with so many volatile timelines.
The transition from Abzan to Dromoka feels like a classic example of wotc falling back into that "black bad" mindset. Calling on the wisdom of ancestor spirits has been seen dozens of times in white and green alike, I fail to see how doing the same with the same methods but with black involved is somehow an afront to nature. I'd at least understand if they made it clear this is only what Dramoka thinks and Dramoka is allowed to be wrong but the whole narrative of the flavor texts seems agree with them.
Dromoka is a genocidal tyrant though. She literally eats weak members of her brood. If anything it shows that green/white can be villainous, and I hope the people still worshipping Anafenza kill that bastard reptile
My favourite clan of Tarkir
Been waiting for this one to teach my girlfriend!!! Thank you, finally, do all the tarkir clans and all the other non-mono colored groups of magic too!
I hope she enjoyed it, last clan is Sultai then hoping to visit the guilds of ravnica!
Of all the Tarkir factions, the Abzan are the ones I miss the most and feel, narrativly, the saddest being gone.
Usually I learn things I didn’t know about magic. Today I also learned a new word; “subsumed”
Happy to help! Hope you enjoyed the video
