Thanks, good Sir. You just saved me over $550 from taking my wife's 2011 Traverse to the dealer for this repair. I found the part on ebay for $17! Took me 3.5 hours to replace it and it works perfectly now! Those torx screws were a PAIN, though. Thanks again!
Someone online said: "You may just need to reset the actuators. It's easy to do, and you should try this first. There's a fuse box under the glove box on the passenger's side. With the car OFF, find the fuse for the HVAC system and pull it. Wait at least 2-3 minutes. Put back the fuse. Wait a minute or two, then start the engine. Do NOT touch the AC control panel at all for a few minutes as all the actuators will reset. Then, put the AC in AUTO mode and adjust the temperature, vent selection, etc. and see if it works. If not, you may need to replace the faulty actuator."
Really good advice to drill the holes on the left side of the console by the glovebox, but I drilled a 3/4 inch hole. It also helps to get a bendable screwdriver that can hold a Torx bit and a mini torx T20 wrench and it was still hard. It took me 2 hours but successful. I put a plastic tie on each screw after loosened and then tied that to duct tape strand or small fish line so you won’t lose your screws but the hole is most helpful
thanks man i got the same problem as you seems like all the other videos is about the blend motor mines stuck on hot summer is coming on so have to change very good straight to the point video
Mr. Rudd: I have that same vehicle with that same problem. Heat on one side....cold on the other. Had I not discovered your awesome video on how to switch out this actuator, I'd have taken it to a shop or worse yet, a GM dealership and paid through my nose for what appears to be an pretty simple fix. I can't thank you enough for posting this video.
Thank you for your first time video! Awesome job and saved us a ton of money. Husband had it installed in an hour and fifteen minutes. Screws were tedious and bring a lot of patience. It was located right where you said. :) and warm now.
My dude! You saved me a ton of extra time! I only pulled the 2 on the driver's & passenger side. So I dug a little deeper & got to the other one. Also a swivel head 7/64ths Allen wrench made it a lot easier. Props bro!!!
Thanks, very helpful. I changed out the actuator up top for air direction, but the video was very helpful, you did a good job explaining it and which one was which
My issue is cold on driver side warm on passenger side. Do you think it's the same actuator or the one that's right up by the throttle above it? And thanks for a great video you're you're you're very clear to listen to
It would have been nice to clarify which side of the vehicle you were on, passenger or driver plus getting into that area. I assume you went in on the passenger side, as that is the best guess. Just showing the view without showing where it was left some questions for me.
Thx for this video gonna make it easier to swap out for my daughter her hubby is deployed and hot air blows out one vent and cold out the other. By chance do you know or remember the part number?
I have a 2010 Chevy traverse and i notice the air blows out from the front and bottom vents ( i have it set to front only) and I get no hot air coming out when i have it on heat. So just ordered two, that should fix both problems when replaced?
@@awesomefreddyable did you only need 1? I have only cold air now. But before my heat stopped the directional didn’t work. I would have it on feet and still it would blow upper.
I have a 2011. I have front heat (That takes forever to heat up) , but I have no rear heat at all. Was that the same issue that you were having and this was the fix? I'm asking because I keep reading that there is a different one for the rear heat. Thanks for the video
The rear heat is located behind the passenger side rear wheel. You have to remove 3rd row seat as well as the panelling to get to it. Same type of actuator to change the hot and cold.
@@473gang9 the rear vents are not controlled up front. There is another panel just above the rear passenger tire. Will have to remove the plastic panel.
Jamaal Spence No it doesnt damage it I just did this today and bent it back a little bit and the pannel went back perfectly. Its a flexible piece of plastic
is this the same thing? Just called by a different name? A/C EVAPORATOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR. AIR TEMP SENSOR. CABIN AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR. TEMP SENSOR. my husband ran a high end code reader, and this is what came up as the problem

Thanks sooo much for doing the research
Bailed me out biggly!!!!!!

Same here but I changed them out and still doing the same thing blowing hot air from the passenger side any tips ?

AWESOME RESULTS!! The bottom screw was pretty hard to get, but it finally came out. Thanks for the video. Heat turned on immediately!

good deal! Save that money!
I’m glad I came across your video. Really helped me out 100% because I was so confused when trying to find which one to change.
Thank you for getting to the point and explaining it clearly!
Thanks, very helpful. I changed out the actuator up top for air direction, but the video was very helpful, you did a good job explaining it and which one was which
Mine dealt with the direction of the air but if I ever have a problem with my cod and hot, I’ll know what to do. Thx for the video.
Thank you, my wife is much happier with me now.
And that's all that matters 😌
Thanks. What's the part number for this actuator?
My issue is cold on driver side warm on passenger side. Do you think it's the same actuator or the one that's right up by the throttle above it? And thanks for a great video you're you're you're very clear to listen to
Sounds like the same actuator...Thank you for the comment.
Does you traverse cooling fans kick on at a low speed soonest you start the car or did they kick on a certain temp. Thank you.
Gregory, thanks for the video, do you have the link for the one that you replaced?

yeah he's on the passenger side
I try but is impossible to change i try for 3 hours and I can't do it.
What tools did you use?
How you get a screwdriver in there to get it out?
Do an actuator keep moving into position even if it’s not working ? Or does it stay stuck in place ?
Does this effect the rear cooling knowing that front side cooling but rear blowing hot air please help
Rear fan and controls are above the rear passenger side tire
Hey i know one of my actuators are going bad its kinda noisy. Will replacing the bottum one help it blow out harder?
No. Just the direction
Anyone know if this also fixes hot air blowing into the back passengers while blowing cold air for the driver?
Same here if anyone knows please advise
Does it only have one for front and rear
Yes
@@gbrudd so there is no rear actuator
@@chinoperez422 Sorry, there is a rear actuator. It is above the rear passenger tire.
Do you have a part number?
My problem is that the rear light stays on all of the time. Does that mean it is stuck and needs a new actuator for direction of air?
Haven't had that problem yet. Sorry!
Did you say you have dual control
What is the part number and correct schematic you used? I have the same problem and need to replace.
Thx for this video gonna make it easier to swap out for my daughter her hubby is deployed and hot air blows out one vent and cold out the other. By chance do you know or remember the part number?
I dont have the part number, but search "blend door actuator." Autozone will have the number

You should only need one unless you have dual climate zone. Are you changing the one in the rear as well?
@@gbrudd the cold/Hot air work in the back. Only the front is where the problem is. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
@@awesomefreddyable so you should only need 1,but you'll know for sure once you look. Just be careful with the T20 nuts. They strip easy.

my chevy travers 2012 , push hot air when I put it under direct sun light through the summer with more than 50c ? what do you think the reason?
I changed the bottom one and now it only blows hot from the passenger side and rear ac blows regular air
I still don't understand where the one is for hot/cold air..... where is it???
Do you still have the schematic you found online? Trying to replace same part in my 2010 Equinox. Thanks in advance!

Is it easy to replace a blower motor? I think i need to. It has a rattle to mime and bogs down when on high. Blows hard then soft....
I've never had to replace a blower motor.
@@gbrudd well when i put my head under there i can hear it rattle.
Give it a shot and see. Make a video of your replacement and post. I'm curious of the process
I've changed a couple. The blower motor isnt that hard. I think easier then the actuators or smaller things deeper in the dash.
How did you open the cover without damage?
I did it by hand (slowly). But there is a trim tool that will help.
