- ❖ Today, I'd like to share the result of a music commission inspired by the world of Final Fantasy, specifically focusing on the saga of VIII.
Matteo, through his channel "FF8 Fans Channel" ( / @ff8fanschannel , has created a fan story where he introduces a character of his own invention into the Final Fantasy VIII universe. This character comes complete with a 3D model, rewritten or added dialogues, and a modified narrative that significantly impacts the game and the psychology of its existing characters.
Matteo's work is impressive and has piqued my curiosity. Below is Matteo's description of the character Virginia:
"Virginia Eurys is a young girl from Galbadia who relocates to Balamb in an alternate timeline of Final Fantasy VIII. Brave, bold, smart, and independent, she joins Squall's team, immediately impressing the leader and injecting a vibrant dynamic into the group's interactions. As time progresses, the mystery surrounding her deepens. What role does she truly play in the game that could disrupt the fate of SeeD?"
In our composition, we reference the song "Breezy" from FF8, offering a different harmonic approach with the addition of a transverse flute to add a unique color to the piece, reflecting the calmness that surrounds Virginia. The music transitions into an orchestral climax, symbolizing the strength that Virginia, shaped by her upbringing in Galbadia, now embodies as a resilient character. Elements such as electric bass, guitars with Tremolo effect, and symphony orchestra are utilized, echoing the familiar sounds of FF8.

Loved FF8 and FFT. Best of the Ps1 era. Hope they receive remakes too. Just not an action rpg. Maybe turn them into 16 bit, that or etc. That would an amazing way to rejuvenate the genre of rpg. Remake FF 8-16 as retro 16 bit rpgs.
I think it would remain a very niche product. I understand your allegiance to the old-fashioned JRPG of the Ps1 era, and I'm aligned with your vision as well. Times have changed, and new generations I don't know how much they would like to enjoy a more tactical and less action-oriented approach to the game.
@EnricoDeianamusic I am quite surprised that I got a response like this from you. I will admit I first had this idea back when DQ11 had a similar mode that turned it into a 16 bit game. That or when Chrono Cross was getting remastered. I thought it would've been cool to see it as a snes game in that classic Akira Toriyama art style before he died

@@marcocitarella Cerca il canale Balamb Garden, la storia si chiama Alternate Destiny, è una riscrittura dell'VIII dove troverai anche Virginia, questa ragazza dai capelli rossi appunto. Al momento gli episodi conclusi coprono l'arco narrativo del CD 1 e del CD 2, ma a settembre uscirà anche una terza stagione. Lì ci sono spesso le colonne sonore di Deiana ❤️

Sounds great, had to listen to it a few times to take it all in, the Flute took too much of my attention! I can hear the references to Breezy for sure, which are lovely, the symphonic part very much connects with The Oath too, it has that same kind of hopeful yet potentially tragic element to it. There's some Ride On/many others with the way the wind instruments waver a little in there as well!
The Transverse Flute is a nice touch, as it's not really used that much in the original OST, not in the same way as this, and it helps keep this new content from FF8FansChannel as original/an addition in some ways. Gotta say, when the bass hits at 1:11, I got shivers, that was very cool, I'd listen to a whole album of just that kind of music. The Bass is very reminiscent of The Spy/Under Her Control, just a lot more chill.
Looking forward to hearing what else you put out into the world, both you Enrico and you FF8FansChannel in terms of alternate stories. Never knew anyone was making such a thing, but it'll be definitely something I go have a watch of from now on. +1 subscribers!

Ff8 had good ideas with unfinished cooking. I think a remake could finish the cooking and blend those ideas in harmony.
Now, ff6 and 9 would also be great in remake.
I fear any chances altering a good story, no difference for FF8 which was my first FF, still...the description got me curious and this track...I guess Uematsu himself could appreciate it, maybe it's even too much for a game like FF8!
I kept the story faithful to the original, still this character puts some pepper on the relationships in the party and helps to explore Squall's feelings and there are some extra scenes I think that could be appreciated 😊
Also I want to give more space to Ultimecia and her reasons in the seasons to come.
As a long-time fan of FFVIII for over two decades, I would dare to disagree that the story should stay as is. In my personal opinion, there are quite a few flaws with the pacing, and the crunch they put themselves through to release the game on time kinda shows, especially once you hit Trabia and onwards. For me and my sensibilities, disc 3 generally has a few writing issues.
However, I definetely prefer it over many other games, in part because it actually shows teenagers acting like teenagers; they can be dumb at times, they act with courage and abanding, and while they can cause unneeded issues, they work hard to remedy them. All of that is all part of growing up, and they only really learn to communicate as the story progresses. Even today, the characters are a very refreshing take on adolescents. :)
In short, I would welcome some changes to the story, given that the characters remain as they are.

Che bello, nonostante gli anni passino quest'opera riesce ancora ad appassionare al punto da volerne rimaneggiare le OST od addirittura, come in questo caso, la trama. Sul tuo lavoro c'è poco da dire qualsiasi commento non ne coglierebbe la vera essenza, posso solo captare l'amore e la passione che ci hai messo per realizzarlo. Ciao Enrico.
Secondo me molto sottovalutato come Final Fantasy poichè in parte oscurato dal successo del 7. Però ancora in tanti lo giocano dopo 25 anni 😊
@@FF8FansChannel Per me è il migliore. Tra gli italiani della mia età ('94) non è per niente sottovalutato perchè è stato il primo tradotto in ita. Avevo su psx FFVII ma essendo in inglese non riuscivo a capirci nulla. Poi al di là della barriera linguistica per me è migliore proprio come opera in tutto FFVIII, musiche, storia, narrazione, personaggi, grafica, immersione, profondità, longevità, però dobbiamo dire per forza che ci piace solo per l'effetto nostalgico. Io intanto me lo rigioco ad intervalli regolare ed evito sempre di finirlo perchè non voglio ci sia una fine a quel meraviglioso sogno che è FFVIII.

@@FF8FansChannel Ciao scusa per il ritardo nella risposta ma ho cambiato pc e non ho potuto accedere a UA-cam in altro modo non avendo altri tipi di apparecchi similari. Proverò a guardarla però secondo me, ed il mio giudizio non conta nulla, hai messo tantissimo impegno nel progetto ma hai fatto 30 e non 31. Veramente non è una critica è solo che mi dispiace che un progetto nel quale è stata riversata così tanta passione non avrà il seguito che meriterebbe. Il problema è che è poco fruibile; hai fatto una scelta intelligente aggiungendo i sottotitolo in inglese così da raggiungere persone di altre nazionalità però SECONDO ME (e lo ripeterò fino allo sfinimento perchè so quanto può essere sminuente il commento di uno che non ha partecipato al progetto e non sa il tempo e l'impegno profuso in esso, anche se la critica è costruttiva rimane sempre un po' di amaro in bocca o perlomeno questo è quello che succede a me) ti saresti dovuto concentrare solo sulle parti dove si devia dall'opera originale. Va bene mostrare l'opera completa con gli stravolgimenti ma per chi non vuole vedersi ore e ore di video sarebbe stato opportuno aggiungere al progetto un video per stagione dove ti soffermi solo sui cambiamenti. Perchè il tuo progetto è destinato a chi conosce già FFVIII non a chi non lo conosce (purtroppo) quindi a me non serve rivedere Squall che combatte con Seifer, il giro introduttiuvo del Garden con Selphie, l'esame nella caverna, io utente che già conosce la storia di FFVIII ho bisogno di qualcosa di immediato, poi se ho voglia e tempo mi vedo tutti i video immergendomi nell'opera stravolta per comprenderne a pieno i risvolti, ma inizialmente avrei bisogno di qualcosa di più immediato. Il commento audio durante il gameplay sarebbe la scelta più facile ma rischierebbe di rovinare il tutto, invece un video spiegazione stagionale potrebbe funzionare. Poi questo è solo il mio giudizio e magari sto dicendo solo cazzate eh. Rinnovo i complimenti per la passione e l'impegno e ti auguro il meglio per i futuri progetti. Eventuali ulteriori commenti riguardanti la serie saranno scritti sotto i video in questione, chiaramente attinenti esclusivamente all'episodio.
@@pernazzo grazie mille per le osservazioni, comprendo bene quello che intendi, così come invece c'è chi non ha apprezzato le deviazioni e ci sta, ma io volevo rivivere con chi mi segue tutto il viaggio di Final Fantasy VIII 😊 si trovano piccoli particolari o dettagli nuovi anche nelle scene già ben conosciute. Non voglio sostituire l'originale che amo molto, voglio ricreare le stesse emozioni con qualche sfumatura misteriosa. Se poi il progetto ti interessasse troverai anche video commentati per spiegare perché ho fatto certe scelte 😉 (c'è una playlist detta "Tutorial") dove probabilmente riesco a spiegarmi meglio. In ogni caso grazie davvero anche solo per aver dato un'occhiata e per la tua opinione.
