Your effort level is effected by what you've already run. Also all these shoes are made for different sessions or races. Boston is a daily shoe, Takumi Sen is a speedwork/5k racing shoe, Prime X2 Strung is a long run shoe, and the Evo's are for elite marathoners. None of these shoes are made for a mile on the track. Also WHY NO ADIOS PRO 3??? You said every adidas supershoe
0:01 - Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1 0:30 - Account for fatigue :) 0:58 - The Boston 12 has Glass Fiber rods (still energy rods, slightly different then the Takumi. The Takumi is designed for speedwork though, and it is considerably faster than the Boston) 2:25 - For those who are interested, I think the Takumi compares to the Hoka Mach X 2 a bit better than the streakfly 2:55 - You nailed it! Energy rods sit between a carbon and carbonless shoe. (It's similar to a nylon/pebax plate) 5:06 - For those who are interested, the legal stack height in WA events is 40mm 7:55 - ZOOM!!! 9:00 - You also just ran 3 hard miles right before, no? And you looked like you were cruising in the Evos.
Takumi Sen should be as fast as Vaporflies for a mile, most people say they even could be faster for shorter distances like 5km and maybe even 10km. At least that was True for Takumi Sen 8 and 9
2 seconds per mile is almost a minute in a marathon setting... for someone doing a major marathon, $500 might be worth it to them to get a slightly better time for a race that they have to book flights and a hotel for? I'm fine sticking with the adios pro 3 though.
That's a lot of money to drop on shoes to not look at the descriptions or specs of them. Energy rods are carbon. The only shoe with a plate is the strung, which has both the rods and a plate, which is one of the reasons they are illegal for elites. So only 2 seconds, but one is legal.
@@TylerSpeers wow such a fast reply and yeah, I’m pretty sure they have energy rods too so it surprised me seeing the takumi be better maybe I gotta try those if they better
Takumis are generally considered to be faster than any of these shoes for shorter distances such as 5k and 10k, also all of these shoes have energy rods not just Takumi, but considering the stack height of other shoes it would probably have felt more effortless to run in those shoes and this video is not meant scientifically so thanks for the fun vid Tyler!
I think your order should've been the SL2 > Takumi > Boston 12 > Adios Pro 3 > Prime X > Evo 1. The SL2 does not have energy rods and is the real daily trainer. Boston 12 and Takumi are energy rod trainers. AP3, prime x, evo 1 are all race shoes.
Takumi sen is definitely not trainers. theyre race shoes for shorter distances such as 5-10k and often seen as faster than vaporflys on 5k. i would also switch prime x with aap3
Energy rods are Adidas' version of a carbon plate. The boston has them, too. The takumi and bostin both have fiber glass rods rather than carbon like their race models. They line up with the bones of your feet and are more versatile for athletes who have different levels of probation. As it doesn't twist a full plate. Love the content, but some education never hurts
Technically it makes sense the pro evo is slower than the prime x because the pro evo is designed to be fast and meet waa standards and the prime x does not
Yes Boston 12 have energy rods. But they are fibreglass infuser energyrods (same with the Takumi Sen 10). These are slightly more forgiving / less stiff (but slightly less energy return). Whereas the adios pro 3 have carbon infused energy rods. I own the ap3, but tbh I don’t find them stiff or uncomfortable. Pleasant and bouncy shoes to run in
I don’t think it’s the shoes, especially with how the Evo’s performed, it’s you 🤷♂️ Sorry Tyler, I enjoy your content as an active runner myself, but I’m only telling it how it is because I respect you & your channel.
Yeah, it's kind of tough. This isn't really a scientific test, but more of just a fun vid. I tried to get pretty full rest so I'd be relatively fresh before each mile! Take these results with a grain of salt hahaha
Go to a running store, try a few pairs from different brands, and go for what feels most comfortable for you. As a new runner, you absolutely don't need the shoes he's talking about here...
You're going to fatigue by running all of those miles in one day. I'd do them on separate days or something to make sure your energy levels don't impact performance.
All of them shoes actually have carbon fiber (infused) rods and not a real carbon plate. This is actually one of Adidas's most distinguishing features, well marketed and I don't really understand how anybody who'd done basic research could've missed that fact. Also, you missed their mass market race day trainer, the adios pro. Kinda mid video, do better
I really like your videos but you probably should have researched the shoes a little more for this video. All these shoes have energy rods and they aren’t a gimmick
I normally enjoy the channel but big oof on this one. Effort level won't remain constant. You were GASSED after Prime X and weren't even sweating after Evo. Also they all have rods. And are proven to provide more customization for all types of people because they bend where the pressure is put. Lastly. You paid $645 for shoes you CAN get at retail, and then your first run was just a mile and ON A TRACK?! I'm surprised the soles didn't rip off.
i would love to race you i"m a little faster than you and im 13 i think i would challenge you, but there is a problem i live in illinois and you are in texas. but awesome video💪
That’s funny because I actually pick my primeX strung 1 over takumi sen several times this year already to race in, 5 and 10k’s. They gave me a personal best. I believe primeX are much much faster.
Please don’t take this video as a scientific test, it’s just for fun hahaha
Normal upload schedule?

energy rods arent worse than carbon plate. If they were then Adidas wouldnt put them in all there fastest shoes (except prime x that has plate)
Blud spend $1k on a video, we gotta start funding speers
The Takumi Sen has like 10 road running world records, so to say it’s not at the level of a carbon plated shoes is pretty ignorant lol

Great vid Tyler, such an inspiration for runners!
HE’S BACK
Boston 12 is so underrated. I use it for my threshold and sprint workouts, it’s super responsive and feels light on my feet.
Do Asics 🙏

The Boston 12 has energy rods too. There’s no difference in the first 2 energy returns.
To make it more transparent add in the heart rate too beside the pace/mile for each shoes
I’ve always been a Nike guy but this opened my eyes a bit

Is there any way to factor in muslce fatigue even though you kept the same effort level?
Hard to compare shoes when you factor in fatigue and go off effort. But it is just a UA-cam video 😂
