      YES! I wish I would have mentioned this in my video. I also don't recommend having a primary care doctor do this. But, the problem is that you most often need the primary care doctor or nurse to do it because of the urgency of the situation. Sadly it can take 6 months to get into see a dermatologist, if you try to go that route. I don't know why the dermatologists I saw were so extremely sloppy with their surgeries. I am not sure if most hospital chains have plastic surgeons available or if you have to pay out of pocket elsewhere to see one. I am going to look into this. If someone does a biopsy like mine and it looks horrible, sometimes the cells are abnormal and then you need a full surgery to remove more of the area. At that time, I would definitely recommend finding a proper doctor/surgeon to deal with it. The only one I know of is a plastic surgeon. I definitely need to research this more to see what options are out there.

    Videos keep popping up lately with people promoting sun exposure while encouraging people to avoid all sunscreens. I believe that sun exposure is so important for our health, but people need to be aware of the risks and problems that can occur with excess exposure. I am really fortunate that I only had basal cell carcinoma a couple years ago. Over the last couple years, I had 7 total excisions on my back + 4 that were re-excised due to problems. It was painful, the healing didn't always go as planned, and the whole thing also cost me a lot of money. So, I really hope that this video just sheds light onto the topic because sometimes people just aren't aware of the risks and some people are more susceptible to problems than others. Feel free to share your experiences in the comments! - Holly

      Thank you! I had to search through old Amazon orders to find that I started wearing it around 2015, though I remember using it while living in Vegas and swimming daily in 2008. But, I didn't apply much of it and I don't think I reapplied it, plus i was swimming a lot. The sun was so hot there. I started getting into doing at home peels around 2014 (age 32) and started using it more regularly. I've become much better at using it daily since 2018 (age 36).

    We should wear sunscreen, and good sunglasses when we are in the sun for more than 15 minutes. I have been wearing sunscreen since age 11, and I know it's helped me (I'm now 53) and luckily, I've never had skin cancer (I'm of Norwegian descent). You do need indirect sunlight in your eyes for good eye health, as it makes your body release dopamine. Thanks for all the things you do, and have a great weekend!

    That skin lesion looks like it's getting necrotic (which just means it's not getting the proper blood supplied to that area so the tissue is dying, which also means it CAN spread/get bigger). I'm not sure if it's deeper than the skin layer, but you NEED to see a CERTIFIED DERMATOLOGIST for this. Not a nurse, not a regular doctor. Once it's confined to the skin layer, they'll be able to help you for sure. If it's deeper, then they'll refer you to a surgical doctor if need be. But don't wait for that lesion to get bigger, go by a derm! I hope you get this sorted out asap.

      Thanks! I haven't researched any of those yet, but have heard there are different filters being used and probably better ones that what we have, for the chemical options. I really like the mineral sunscreens I'm using, so I don't have a need for those. But, it's good to know about. I am curious about how long they've been around and the research on them. I found a really interesting article on this here: www.ewg.org/sunscreen/report/does-europe-have-better-sunscreens/.
      "EWG estimates that most sunscreens sold in the U.S. would be too weak to qualify for the European Union market because they don’t filter UVA rays well enough.
      An EWG study of laboratory tests of 51 sunscreen products found that only 35 percent of the products tested met the EU standard, but 94 percent would pass the current U.S. standard."

This brand is long wearing too, those types of sunscreens don’t exist in North America. There’s some European sunscreens that advertise 10 hr wear! If I wear no sunscreen I can burn in 30mins. North American sunscreen burns my skin because I’m so super sensitive and for some reason zinc oxide sunscreen dries my skin and breaks me out.

      @@LifeDIY The main suspects are seed oils and excessive insulin. Considering the overall improvement in my skin tone, I lean towards the former. Or possibly higher cholesterol enhancing D3 conversion. The main thing is it works and many other carnivores corroborate.
      My half brother died of skin cancer so I don't take it lightly. I didn't take up this diet for this since no doctors really talk much about the connection, even carnivore docs, but it is too remarkable to be ignored.
      It is the only thing that makes evolutionary sense. Light skin exists for good reasons.

      Exactly, I'm actually a little surprised that she said this, given the fact that she usually does some research into everything that she uses. All sunscreens are tested and developed under the same standards, and to achieve the SPF stated on the bottle you need to apply a certain amount. The exact amount would vary slightly depending on the measurements of your face, but it's more or less a teaspoon's worth for face, neck + ears.

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  3 місяці тому +2

      Good point! The one image I showed mentioned that melanoma can appear in areas not exposed to the sun. From what I've read, UV light from the sun is responsible for more skin cancer cases than anything else. But, there are other causes of skin cancer/melanoma besides just the sun. "Like all cancers, melanomas are the result of changed or damaged genes that lead to cancer cells being able to grow and invade other tissues. UV rays can cause these genetic changes, but so can other factors. Around 10 per cent of melanomas occur in people with a family history. In these people, the odds that a melanoma will appear on a hidden body part are higher than for others because of the genes they’ve inherited. However, melanomas can also occur in people, even where there isn’t any obvious family history. It is possible a small proportion of melanomas unrelated to sun might also arise because of factors like viruses, chemicals and environmental pollutants. More research is needed to confirm this. Regardless of the time you spend in the sun or your family history, it’s important to get to know your skin - all of it, not just the parts exposed to the sun - and report any changes to your GP." I am in my mid seventies and live in the tropics. I used to get bad sunburns. But twenty-seven months ago, I changed from eating the Standard American Diet to eating the Carnivore diet. Once I eliminated from my diet the inflammatory foods -- seed oils (canola, soy, corn, etc.), sugar, carbohydrates, and fruits (they are sugar) and most vegetables, I no longer burn. I can be in this hot tropical sun for much longer than before, but without any burning. By the way, those brownish skin tags that we get around our necks and arm pits that we keep a suspicious eye on? They are caused by an inflammatory diet (insulin resistance). After several months of eating only animal products (and thereby stabilizing my blood sugar), my skin tags dried up and fell off, leaving no trace of their former existence. I love this way of eating that has improved my health in so many ways. Sunscreen yes or no is an irrelevant question once diet is addressed. My opinion from my experience. This is not medical advice.
