You can tell he hasn't done Basket Case for a while with the way he sounded this time. Other than that I give him credit for doing this that early!
2012 was such a great year - Because I could go on a concert from Green Day, and it was the freakin best moment of my entire life ♥

Yes it looks like he's doing fuck all the bits he is doing must make a bit of a difference otherwise GD wouldn't have him there. I agree it does look a bit silly if he's just standing there in front of a mic without a guitar behind the amps.

One time, me and my friend were sitting by this school that got shut down and they make it into a haunted house every October and we were about a 50 yards away from the school when all of the sudden we here the baseline of Holiday coming from somewhere by the school. So we jump up and run towards them school because we both really liked the song and we wanted to listen to it. When we got to the school, it sounded like it was coming from somewhere else, and we ended up running around the school for like ten minutes. We never found out where the music was coming from. It was weird.

All these comments about the chord 'screw up' deal with it, even professionals make mistakes sometimes. No matter how long you've been playing an instrument doesn't mean you won't accidentally press the wrong fret or not quite press down enough on the strings. I do it all the time.

I went to Times Union Center in Albany NY summer 2009 saw them play at the fairly beginning of the 21st Century Breakdown tour.
Then at citi field in summer 2021
"Hear the sound of the falling rain,
Coming down like an Armageddon flame (hey),
The shame, the ones who died without a name,
Hear the dogs howling out of key,
To a hymn called faith and misery (hey),
And bleed, the company lost the war today,"
This is basically saying that no matter what happens in this war with Iraq, we lose. Many people died and are still dying. Both American and Iraqi. It's saying that war is hell and regardless of the outcome, there is no winner. The hymn of faith and misery is the hymn of war. The company is America.
"I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies,
this is the dawning of the rest of our lives,
on holiday! "
Ths chorus is saying I refuse to listen to what you tell me about this war. I refuse to believe that there is any good in it. I refuse to submit to your lies that this will bring about a better life for us or those we are fighting with and for. And if we do submit and believe what you are telling us we have to understand that this is the beginning of the a new, (not better) life for us. We are on "holiday" if we give up and belive these lies.

This is simply telling the story of what is happening in this war. If you cross the line, we'll shut you up. There's money in this war so no protests will be heard. The plastic bag is the gag on the Statue of Liberty or the Lincoln Memorial or any of the monuments that represent life, liberty and freedom in this country. This war goes against many of the liberties we say we beleive in so we have to "shut up" the voice of the monuments screaming for justice.

Point blank statement. The US will kill you if you don't agree with us. But that's not the way for the writer of the song. This song says don't kill me because I don't agree with you.
The whole song is saying that not everyone agrees with the lies and excuses given by our government regarding this war. That if we give in, we are condemning ourselves to live like this forever. If we stay on holiday regarding what's going on in the world, we might as well learn to live with the oppression and lies.

yeaaa you can tell that this when he was medicated and drinking, his debatable vocals, particularly on holiday, are not even close to what he's normally capable of.
I still find his voice particularly clear here ; I find this to be the counterpart of a form of torpor in it, which is certainly due to substance abuse at that time

Not every Green Day fan is female. Two of my guy friends and my male social studies teacher like Green Day.
I've seen several middle-aged male celebrities with eyeliner before... didn't find them more attractive than that. The first time I looked at Billie he wasn't wearing eyeliner and what immediately hooked me were the expression on his face, the look in his eyes, his way to stand, his way to talk, his singing voice... the songs he sang, the music the band played. (I wasn't in my teens anymore.)
I do find Billie better than ever now that he's in his 40s, in all ways ; and even though this has, once again, nothing to do with eyeliner, I might ad that I also find Billie to be one of the few men (a fortiori middle-aged men) to which eyeliner really suits. But I really don't mind whether he wears some or not, he's the same to me and I love him anyway.
As for the teens girls... if really there are some very young girls that first get interested in Billie for his eyeliner (this could also happen to adults), if they happen to be real fans and go watch Green Day performing live (like in the video above), they will quickly find out that Billie Joe has a lot more to give and show than his... eyeliner... So I don't see your point here.

The original Blue was never changed. The lighting in this vid makes it look white. Now i dont know about it being black. He probably has another variation of Blue and made it black but i may be wrong
