I enjoy Christmas and love to design. Maybe a little nudge will help by kicking off some simple decor. Hope this inspired you to make something of your own! I will be developing many more videos for the DIYer leaning into the furniture items on the off-season. A lot more Christmas designs on the horizon now that I just purchased a CNC; perhaps not this year since I have a lot of other things going on. Ill slowly post the easy stuff if I make anything until I get the CNC assembled. I currently spent countless hours spent on some cool Christmas items for the CNC. I appreciate you stopping by and leaving a comment!
Hopefully we can do something spectacular this year. If not, we have plenty of decorations as you can see. I’m currently in a position of dealing with renovations that I’m posting on my UA-cam channel (if that’s of interest) and hopefully soon I’ll be moving when the housing market cools off. Once all the renovations are complete, I will be doing a lot of more wood projects with the CNC I purchased, 3D printing, design work, etc. I have a plethora of renderings for most of the holidays that I’ll be using the CNC to make. Thanks for watching!
Yeah, it probably would deflate or freeze into an 🧊 ornament-cicle. These were actually last minute ideas; It would’ve been better off using the thicker vinyl bouncy balls, the type kids sit on and bounce with.
I recommend reading some of the comments in regards to a redesign so it could last a lot longer once built. If you haven’t already check out some of the other Christmas videos I’ve done, you might find interest in them also. Thanks for watching
My plan is close to this but with LED pagoda lights tops atop the metal pan shining down into ball. Still search for red and green beach balls and big vinyl balls. More difficult that I thought.
Very difficult lol. Try key words like kids kick balls, bouncy ball, workout balls or jumbo bouncy ball, they will last longer. Amazon is now selling inflatable Christmas ornaments now www.lowes.com/pd/CanDo-CanDo-inflatable-ball-silver-85-cm-33-5in/5002189667?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-app-_-ggl-_-PLA_APP_118_Refrigerators-Freezers-_-5002189667-_-online-_-0-_-0&ds_rl=1286981&ds_rl=1286890&gclid=Cj0KCQiA99ybBhD9ARIsALvZavVxPPhLJc6OgiMh36KZ83fgMO1JWerPAR4N2mV1KifFaKO1sHHTxoUaAoS0EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
Well I’d recommend going with the updated model I mentioned to others in the comment. The bouncy balls kids kick or sit on are made from thicker material and will last longer; especially if you’re gonna spend a lot of time and money painting them. To anchor them you can put water or sand inside if you’re able to funnel it into the hole, some bouncy balls have larger openings. You can also use ribbon 🎀 as a hanging loop and stake it down with tent stakes. Many ways to make yours look better than my last minute idea.
Thanks for the comment! I have many designs ive been 3D modeling for my new CNC. I don't know what ill be able to record this year because I have a lot going on and last year last min designs were hectic up till Christmas day lol. Throughout the year Ill be posting a lot more crafts. Thanks again for stopping by.
What an awesome idea! I just have a couple of questions. When you deflate them after Christmas would the paint crack? When you deflate the ball does it mess up the ornament where the pan is glued to the top? Would there be any issue of the balls deflating or shrinking in cold temps? Thanks
1. Yes and No, the correct paint sticks well but scratches in storage. 2. No the glue bonds tightly and holds the material firmly (valve should be relocated to the base then or a access cutout needs to be made). 3. During cold temps it deflated a bit (not extremely cold maybe dropped to a max of 35ish deg F) but unsure if its due to the material stretch or temp playing the major role. Read the comments below I replied to, I recommend the ticker bouncy balls made to be bounced on or yoga balls to maintain color and re-usability. Most beach balls tear after a few seasons.
They will do what anything else in that climate thats air filled. More than likely contract a little depending on the temperature and the material might stiffen up.
It was a pokadot (cheapest on ebay) beach ball that I painted red will plastic paint. Hopper Balls will be better due to the toughness and deflating option but might be hard hanging due to thickness = weight
If you are referring to the bulbs; Yes that was my original intent until I ran out of yard lol I was gonna use huge ribbon to make it look like they fell off the tree.
To light the ones I made I would recommend putting a solar panel on top of the metal topper or plug on the backside of the topper with alot of LEDs under the topper. You would need to avoid painting under the metal topper so it illuminates downward and get a transparent ball that you can lightly paint (gold or silver flake) to give a shimmer of a color (light on the paint) or try and find paint that lets light out like interrogation room mirrors. You can also use glow paint or UV paint instead of lights. One thing to keep in mind is by hiding the air valve you cannot deflate the ball for storage so I recommend putting it on the bottom or off-center. Another option would be get the bouncy balls from the kids area that are swirled in color. Fitting Fairy lights (smaller in size and warm color) inside a fully transparent ball would be cool too if you are willing to cut the ball (if you don't have a big enough mouth opening - try the air hole first) and force copper stranded (super thin wires) fairy lights into the opening and reseal it with E6000 and hook it to a solar panel or batter box (usually comes with) on the topper. Depending on the ball size will determine how may lights you will want. Hope this helps, anything else just ask. I had followed a similar tutorial on this idea that I just found earlier than yours, except I used smaller sizes (like 6 inch balls) to hang from my porch. I used spray paint with primer and it has been 4-5 days since painting and they are still just as tacky as the first day after painting. One color is red and gets all over anything it touches! What can I do??!!!
Did you buy plastic friendly paint? Did you shake the can well? Was it warm when you painted including the spray paint can (warm it up slightly similar to body temp)? Did you mist it on before fully coating? Did you let each coat dry properly before reapplying? Did you paint too heavy at once? Did you use primer and paint mixed, or primer and then paint or did you use primerless paint (not a good option)? Did you have a clean surface (used alcohol before painting)? Some options but might not work: 1. Repaint in warm area (use hair dryer to warm the surface), keep in mind this can cause the paint to attack itself and wrinkle. 2. Try drying it near heat source then repaint 3.Primer over area (drys fast) and paint again 4. talcum powder to dry paint (never tried this) 5. Clear coat them (might as well primer instead and repaint because clear is harder to apply) 6. Redo it with the paint brand I used (plastic and primer all in one) Hope this helps! You might be able to find something that confirms my opinions online before trying them.
I very much appreciate you taking the time to reply and give so many suggestions. I used the paint/primer Rustoleum mix, and do a lot of crafting so am familiar with how to apply it evenly and not too thick at once etc. I think what happened is that it’s cold here and I used a fan to try to dry them, when it needs heat. I’m going to try that and see what happens! Thanks a million!
My original intent was to get thicker vinyl balls instead of the thin vinyl beach ball. I think I recommended the thick vinyl balls the kids use to bounce on or kick around somewhere in my video as I was constructing these (if I didn't edit it out). This was apart of my last minute random project ideas I made and couldn't source anything fast enough which is why this video is barely taking off this year. I was making things all the way up to Christmas eve lol. Just keep in mind you will need a basketball needle style pump end to deflate those and pump up because the valve is different than the beach balls. The cost to make them will go up but definitely worth doing to save for years to come!
Thanks so much. I enjoyed it and might try it.
Thanks for stopping by with a comment. Please check out other discussions I talk about in the comments below to see how to make a better version.

Thank you for this great idea, i'm going to try it out this year!
They look great!
Thank you. Never too early to make Christmas stuff 😁
Very nice. Thank you for all the good ideas.
Your welcome! Thanks for the comment and enjoying the content!
Beautiful
Spring form cake pan is deeper. Not sure they would make it up here in Wisconsin's cold to stay inflated. Cool idea though. 😃👍🏻

Great idea! I want to put these on the lawn. How would I anchor them to the ground so they won't blow away?

Thank you for the response. I will give it a try this year.🤞
How would these hold up in really cold weather?
They will do what anything else in that climate thats air filled. More than likely contract a little depending on the temperature and the material might stiffen up.
Can you post a link to where you purchased the red ball. I can not find d one...no where. Thank you

How do you make the snow?
I have a 3 part series, unit i purchased, make snow juice and final output

Can you tell me if this would work in the yard on the ground?
If you are referring to the bulbs; Yes that was my original intent until I ran out of yard lol I was gonna use huge ribbon to make it look like they fell off the tree.
How the glue for this ball I try the gun hot glue is not work
E6000 is what I showed
I bought pool balls that have solar led lights in them to try this. How would you get lights in these balls? Thanks! Making some this year

If you were going to paint the ball ( shouldn't you of painted it first befor you put the top on ??? )
Was waiting on online purchased paint (color). Yes you are correct. But at the same time you need a way to hang it while it dries (valve might work)
What size is the beach balls?
42” jumbo beach ball

Ps I’m using large vinyl balls

*Don’t add hot glue to a blow up ball. It will bust. Use E6000.*
Depends on the temperature you have the glue. It doesn't work as good as the E6000 anyway
@@ProjectAnubisUSA ~Plus there’s a Quick Dry E6000.
Awsome! I also love crafting and I also have a channel! Want to check it out?
Don't use HOT glue! it will pop or melt the ball 😉
Depends on how hot you let your gun get. I usually get it hot enough to melt the glue and kill the power. E6000 works way better though.
Looks like the ones in New York City ♥️
