In today's video you're going to learn a simple adjustment that will help you tap into effortless power and better consistency in your golf swing.
There are 2 terms to understand: the center of mass and the net force. How these 2 interact in the golf swing is crucial to playing great golf.
By positioning the center of mass behind your hand path you can harness the laws of physics to effortlessly accelerate your club into the ball. This not only provides a free club head speed boost, it encourages the club face to square up at impact.
A very common mistake in amateur golfers is to allow the center of mass to get outside of the hand path. When this happens you are now fighting centrifugal acceleration, causing your club head speed to decrease and making it more difficult to square up the club.
In today's video you'll learn some simple tips to help take advantage of this free club head speed boost to shallow the club and deliver a great impact.

Great example with the water skier. Love the physics perspective with CoM and forces.

Always great detailed explanations from you Zach! You break down the elements of the golf "sling" of the club very well.

Zach, terrific topic. Since I had my setup adjusted to provide room for my hands to return to the starting position... my focus is now placed on the arc of my hands and simply allowing the weight of the club head do what centrifugal force dictates it will do, if that makes sense. My setup is very different than what I thought it should be, just a couple months ago... hips over ankles, slight knee bend, relaxed/hunched upper back. Hands travel the arc, club head just drops. Thank you sir, terrific channel. 🤟

This seems like a really good explanation on how to maintain speed through the golf swing...

Okay, great analogy. But if you want a “like or subscribe”, how about a drill to help us get that steepness to the shaft? What can we do to train our body to get that club shaft more perpendicular to the ground?
4:08 The one thing I notice as you take the club back flat, your right arm starts to separate from your body and you get that flying chicken wing. But when the shaft is more upright, that right arm stays more connected; i.e. it stays closer to your ribs.

Good point. And I believe you are on the right track. For most players the best way to shallow the club is to arrive in a very good backswing position.

Hi Zach how do you determine the center of gravity of each club is it different with each club is at a certain distance from the clubhead thanks for your help kindly advise Jack

Balance the club on your finger to determine the balance point. It's usually about 2/3 of the way down the shaft. It's a way to correctly feel how to move the club shaft and club head most efficiently.

this is kind of right. the problem is the angular momentum is being created by the back of the boat. but you say move lft rotate . that's like all of a sudden the ski boat moves the rope to the front of the boat. this would call the skier to sink powers all gone.

    • @ZachAllenGolf
      @ZachAllenGolf  6 місяців тому

Our hips pull our ribcage, which then pulls the shoulders, then the arms and finally the club. In a rotational fashion.

@@ZachAllenGolf exactly, and how many golf balls do you hv to hit daily to perform that swing? 1,000's? f the guys you're copying do for living and hv the time. if you can't spend the ti m r you can't do it

This is because why the practice swing is alway better than the actual applied swing. People take their time with the practice swing as the stress about contacting a ball doesn't exist then.
They lose all of the looseness and thus the timing during the real swing because of tensing up and rushing to "hit" the ball.
If someone could event a process where the golfer brings his practice swing to the the actual swing and bottle that, they'd make a million bucks.
