Thank you I use it after my stroke but never knew it’s name. It works for walking, but not for mobilizing the muscle or nerve.
This is awesome...thank u for sharing the info and demonstrating.
I'm so glad I happened upon this video. I will be getting this for my foot drop. Thank you Dr Gretchen
This is a fabulous video, Dr. Gretchen! You explain the Dictus Band and how to use it just perfectly. Thank you!!
Thank you so, so much!!!
Thanks Dr. Gretchen! I had heard of the Dictus band but didn’t know exactly how they worked. I appreciate the demonstration and explanation.
I love the way that you explain and show this product on the video.
Thank you!
Thanks
Dziękujemy.
donde se puede comprar este producto GRACIAS para pie izquierdo BENDICIONES
Thanks!
You're welcome! ☺️
I have a afo but I want to give this a try !
Definitely give it a shot!
What about the dictus for bare feet? Is it as good? Would it work when we have a dressier shoe for going out say with shoes with no laces?
You should do a review for the Saebo device, it's similar to this one but a lot simpler.
Awesome! Thanks for the recommendation!!
How and where do you measure what size band you would need
Well illustrated, thanks so much. How much does it cost and how do I get one ?
The cost will depend on where you get it from, but I typically get mine from either Amazon or eBay☺️
Hello Dr. G. Great video. Please send me the Dictus band link & link to your MSing Link. Thank you. 😊
Hey there! The dictus band can be found on either eBay or Amazon. As for The MSing Link, you can check out all the information including a Behind the Scenes video via this link here: www.doctorgretchenhawley.com/TheMSingLink
I use a hip flexion assist device from Becker as I have foot drop and hip flexor weakness. It helps both. I did a write up of it for local PTs as they were not familiar with it. You should review.
Thank you for the recommendation! I will look into it☺️
Have you ever heard of the Saebo? I use that for my drop foot, and have been for over four years. It's an amazing device.
I also use HFAD by Becker for foot drop and weak hip flexor ppms
Interesting video thanks, Dr Gretchen. I have avoided such devices before as I understood if you dont continue to try to improve/strengthen the muscle on your shin then it becomes weaker with lack of use due to the assistance. I currently dont wear a Dictus band and have some action in my ankles , but find i can trip due to foot drop if not paying attention. What are your thoughts on the above re the Dictus band possibly causing weakness by over assisting the muscle responsible for lifting your foot
I definitely recommend still continuing strengthening exercises for the ankle, practiced w/o an assistive device on, because you do not want to train your brain that the movement of lifting the toes cannot be done unassisted☺️
@@DoctorGretchenHawley ok understood , thank you for recommendation, which is logical makes sense
How much is this
Can let me know that particular brand please
The brand is "Dictus Band" You can put it into Amazon and this exact one should come up. However, it can be difficult to find as it does sell out often.
would this work for slap foot? My left foot slaps the ground as i take a step forward, ( have a damaged nerve in leg due to spinal fusion damage)
Yep! This is good for foot drop, drop foot, and foot slap! You might enjoy this podcast episode where I review all 3 of these☺️ open.spotify.com/episode/7o2vjI1tueKJ5H1xCHExuq?si=4wIe95bFQn2RcVmgOgc6sA
Name pls,help me
I just discovered this. Unfortunately, 5 years ago this would have helped. With secondary progressive at age 63, it’s gotten a lot worse. Walking is very difficult actually but I’m doing your exercises religiously trying to claw my way back. Do you think this device would help at all?
That is a difficult question to answer without an in-person evaluation. The best answer I could give would be to give it a try, and see how you feel🧡
So looking for a better option than my AFO. I feel like it holds me back and hard to step forward.
Traditional AFOs definitely limit ankle mobility. I hope something like this would be able to help you!
Can you ship one to south africa?
I have always purchased mine from either Amazon or eBay!
Where i should by this
I typically am able to find this on Amazon or eBay!
Amazon out of stock plz arrange this product
Give eBay a check! Often times I can find it on eBay if Amazon is out of stock.
And how do you do this if you are hemiplegic? Looks like 2 hands are needed.
Two hands are definitely needed for the dictus band since the elastic rubber band is so strong. If you only have use of one hand or if you don’t have someone who can help, I recommend the elevate 360 brace! I’ll be making a video on this in the near future :)
My option-3ft bungee cord. Connect one end to front shoe lace, other end to belt. Route up pant leg. Adjust length with knot(s). Cost $2.
That's awesome!!
I am doing the same. I don't even try to hide it. It just goes from my belt down to my laces.
Some people laugh, others think it's interesting.
I recently had two PTs approach me to say how impressed they were with my “device”.
@@jackbaker3615 We may have started a new fashion trend...Soon we'll see some teens doing the same...if they go back to using belts...
Wow. I’m going to try this.
There are many products like this one, with different names, but identical in design.
There are many similar product, yes☺️
Please where can I find this band in Africa
I have always purchased mine via Amazon or Ebay. That would be your best bet!
Would this work well with the Bioness L300 go?
Typically they are not used together. However, if you feel safe and stable doing so then it's something you could try. I would recommend discussing this with your in-person physical therapist to see what their thoughts are!
@@DoctorGretchenHawley Thank you!
Where can I purchase a Dictus band?
I typically find mine on either Amazon or eBay!
Dr. Hawley, Will the Dictus help develop muscles and allow the user to possibly not need a brace if used for a period of time?
Edwin Johnson
Great question - It is definitely a good tool to help with preventing trips/falls when a person has drop foot. But, I always recommend practicing functional exercises without the aid of a brace to help strengthen the muscles and neural pathways to potentially not need the aid of a brace in the future☺️
Amz link does not work - takes you to unavailable product.
Another place where I typically find this product is via eBay!
Where can I get one?
I am usually able to find them on either eBay or Amazon!
@@DoctorGretchenHawley
I can’t get one because my entire leg, ankle and foot has absolutely no strength.
Thanks
How to order the ban
I have found mine on either Amazon or eBay!
Doc my front part of the foot neither it raises properly nor it can handle my weight when I sit. Idk it's foot drop or front foot drop 😢
Hey! Check out this UA-cam video on foot drop where I review the different types of foot drop, and ways to help improve it. I think it will be really helpful in answering your question while providing visual demonstration!

From where can I buy? I am from Bulgaria.
I have always found mine on either Amazon or eBay!
Please share me link with your model
What If you have been diagnosed with bilateral incomplete foot drop?
I also have this, what caused yours? Do you still have it? 😊
Dear Dr I'm from Egypt and i want to know haw to purchase it and haw much?
Thanks
Hi there! I always order mine from either Amazon or eBay so the price can vary.
Does it work if you can’t bend your knee?
Great question - This is designed to help make sure the toes are lifted to clear the ground when taking a step...meaning the rest of the functionality of walking, including at least some bend in the knee, is present. It may help some if the knee cannot be bent, but I cannot say for certain.
Does the dicktus band only come in 1 sze or is there a Bigger dicktus band?
I believe there are three sizes - small, medium, and large.
I am india Hyderabad
I am from India 🇮🇳
How to buy 😊
I usually get mine from either Amazon or eBay!
Dr. Gretchen namastey 🙏 I'm jalaj from India, Please don't feel bad after reading this ugly comment but can you please send me that Ductus Band which you were giving demonstration of.
I'm asking it for because it's very costly for me and I don't have that much money to buy it from internet. For india it show around 13000 and more.
If you can giveaway this brace then please give it to me. It's a request from you. Thank you Dr. Mam. Namastey🙏
Great idea (theoretically) but as they say gravity is a b###h !
my problem is i only have one hand to put on
I'll be posting another option that is possible to use with one hand in the near future!
😒🤔
I am dismayed that yet again, a perfectly healthy, fit, relatively young person demonstrating how easy it is to fit one of these things. If you have foot drop, you can't lift yourfoot, you haven't got good balance, and to get a shoe on is extremely problematic even trying to get your foot in never mind an extra thing.
I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling discouraged. You are right that adding in something extra is challenging, and may require some assistance. In regards to shoes, have you heard of Kiziks? They are great brand with a wide toe box, and allow you to slip them on w/o needing to bend down to do so!
dog wants to assist
the dog isn't sure
I don't wanna wear sneakers all the time ..
That's fair! Some people have better balance & do feel better wearing shoes most of the time☺️ Or this could just be a good option for when you do wear shoes.
Would like to see this used on someone who really needs it instead of you telling us how great it is. Your feet are fine so of course it's going to work for you doc. Looks like another scam
I actually have a lot of clients who have found this extremely helpful in their walking. Also, I have no affiliation with the brand or company; meaning I have no reason to promote this product apart from my experience in seeing it be helpful ☺️
