    I love my Drive Wear lenses for all the reasons you gave, however I am going to try the
    Xtractive lenses because the polarization in the Drive Wear lenses prevent me from seeing the LCD map screen in my car. They are still great for outdoor use though.

    Excellent review and I got my answer without having to spend hours and hours research. I was looking for transition lenses specifically for driving during the day and at night (for near sighted) since I do not wear glasses when I am not driving. Now I now Xtractive is the one I should get. Thank you so much!

    I got the extra active. Drive wear just doesn't make sense - I would rather just have rx polarized amber sunglasses for driving. Since drivewear never goes clear, why even use them over dedicated sunglasses?

    Just for your information, according to the official statement of Drivewear: Use special caution when
    operating open air vehicles such as convertibles, motorcycles, snowmobiles, or all terrain
    vehicles, or engaging in activities such as skiing. Lens will become much darker in cold, sunny
    environments, and may limit visibility in extremely cold weather.

    Great review! But how do the Drivewear lenses hold up as normal everyday sunglasses? My trouble now is my lenses warp the ground in front of me, making it look like I'm about to step in a dip immediately followed by a bump. Not good for working on a roof! I'm especially enticed by the idea of them tinting a bit in overcast weather - my eyes are weak and I get squinty and tired in flat light like that.

    How do the Extractive Mirrors compare to each (looking at the gold & blue)? Are they between the two or about the same as the standard Extractive? Do the Extractive Mirrors work at night?

    • @EyeSchoolwithDrD
      @EyeSchoolwithDrD  4 роки тому +1

      Only UV light will cause Transitions lenses to change, so a screen (tv, phone, tablet, etc) won't cause the lenses to turn dark

    The fact that you mentioned wearing the drivewear seems to bring things into HD clarity makes me wonder if they would be good in my sport glasses for playing tennis. Do you think drivewear would be suitable for a tennis player, or would it be too dark if it is a gray day? And would the polarization not be good for playing a fast game like tennis?

    • @EyeSchoolwithDrD
      @EyeSchoolwithDrD  3 роки тому +3

      I've got several golfers in the lenses and they swear by them. The specific colors of the drivewear (green and more amber/brown) do very well with enhancing the colors on a golf course. I'm extrapolating here but it seems a tennis court would be similar, so I would feel good about having you try for tennis! As for polarization, that shouldn't interfere and will only help reduce glare. Let me know how it goes for you. Most independent retailers will be happy to let you try the drivewear and switch to an alternate transitions lens or simply a polarized lens if you turn out to be unhappy with the tint.

      @@EyeSchoolwithDrD I have now gotten to play a few times with prescription single vision drivewear lenses in my sport frames. First things first, I am impressed how the lenses seem to make colors pop and images sharper. Secondly, I am impressed how these cut down on sun glare. I have had dark gray, but I feel like sunlight is less bothersome and intrusive with drivewear lenses. I had heard some advise against polarized lenses for playing a fast sport like tennis...that polarization would interfere focusing in on a fast moving tennis ball. I don't really find that polarization poses a significant disruption at all. I feel like my eyes see better and are more comfortable with sunlight when wearing the drivewear lenses...so overall happy going with the drivewear. Thanks again for your previous input.

      In the case of Transitions Drivewear, they're not the best for night driving since they're always tinted and rather darkly so. However, Transitions Gen 8 and XTRActive are both nice and clear at night and therefore safe for night driving.

      Thanks for watching! I honestly didn't know what to expect with these lenses but one of my viewers asked for a video so I got a pair...low expectations. But the vision through these drivewear outdoors is so much different than the xtractive, everything just pops. In the sun they don't get "darker" per say, but the tint changes to more of an amber/copper/brown lens. The clarity and contrast is really nice. I would think in Brisbane they would be perfect!
