  • IT. HAD. TO GO.
    I couldn't stand to look at that color damaged mess on my head any longer. It had to be done. To all my relaxed girls out there, #TeamRelaxed forever! But stay away from COLOR! Let me be an example.
    Very excited to embark on this journey as I have been relaxed since I was 6 years old so I never got a chance to experience my natural tresses. I'm already super amazed! Thanks for tagging along, guys!

    I can't lie, I miss my hair like crazy butttttttt I'm trusting the growth process. I'm actually excited to see what my natural hair will look like. Relaxed sisters, please don't hate me! 😭 If I could've stayed relaxed, I would have. But regardless, I'll ALWAYS be an advocate for HEALTHY hair of all types. Thanks for riding on this journey with me! 😘

    Yes it was needed, I would have done the same. That color really damaged your hair from roots to ends. No sense in relaxing damaged hair and trying to hold on to it. Now you can start fresh, it will flourish, have a great journey 😘

    Some of these comments are weird, everything happens for a reason the setback gave birth to a new beginning with her hair whether she chooses to relax or remain natural. It's her choice. Let her be natural for awhile enjoy it, play around with it and learn to love both. I'm relaxed but I love watching all types of hair videos. I'm happy for you and your choice and I wish u the best of luck on your new venture!!!❤️❤️❤️

      @Ms9mmBeretta 7 років тому +8

      You're so right. I didn't like the comments that say "you're so brave." It's not bravery. It's self confidence. Some Black women don't look at themselves as less than just because they don't have long flowing locks. She's obviously comfortable in her own skin, something a lot of us can learn from her as Black women because we are fixated and obsessed with long hair and we don't feel beautiful without it so we do terrible things to our natural hair. But I don't like when people say that women with natural hair or women who big chop their hair are brave. It shouldn't take bravery to have that type of self-confidence. If anything, I admire her for her self-confidence. If you want all kinds of crazy colors in your hair, get extensions and leave all those crazy hair colors to the White girls. Because our hair is not made to take color. It's better that you accept your natural hair color because dying it is not worth it.

    Dye will f*** your progress up - Relaxer + Dye will never work. Dye started breaking my hair, I had to buzz cut my hair two years ago, went natural for a year, then relaxed again. Now I'm relaxed and successfully retaining length. Never dying my hair again, I'm fine with my basic dark brown for life.

    • @ESSNTL
      @ESSNTL  7 років тому +3

      Girl you're implying that all stylists are the same. You keep it honest and that's great for you. Try influencing your fellow stylist friends. This man literally told me he didn't use any bleach and I could relax it in two weeks. I went against my better judgement and trusted "the professional".

    • @kimking1980
      @kimking1980 7 років тому

      Bleach and Developer are not the same thing. Bleach is used to lighten hair in levels. When you use bleach this is the harshest thing you can put on the hair. When you see people with pink, blue and any other color a bleach is used to lighten and this is very bad for the hair. Typically, hair dye consists of two parts - a creme developer and a color packet. The developer bonds with the pigments in the color packet, making the hair dye permanent. Developer is available in both permanent and semi-permanent options and can be mixed with bleach to lighten hair.

    As long as you moisturize daily from here on out, your hair will grow back in no time and you should be shoulder length by this time next year. That KolorKing stylist deserves to have his reputation destroyed for what hes done. His advice was terrible and his behavior after you confronted him was even worse. You don't need to worry though. Karma never loses anyone's address.

    Your cut looks so beautiful!!!! I transitioned and then big chopped. I was so excited to see what my hair actually could do and looked liked,I've been relaxed since the age of 5 so I've never seen my "hair". It was one of the best things I did for myself was cut it,relaxers needed to go anyway due to what they were doing to my hair on top of having thyroid issues. We are all beautiful no matter if we choose to relax or not💜😘

    Welcome to the natural community girl. I never went through damage with my relaxed hair. However, I never wanted it relaxed when I was younger, but it was for my stepmother that had nothing but boys and didn't even deal or knew how to deal with her own hair. So my aunt permed it for her. I remembered my hair being so long and big, and my hair was long and thick while being relaxed, but just didn't have the same body as my natural tresses obviously. So cutting it bit by bit as it grew out was what I had my aunt do for me. And buried under weaves I never used to get, lol. So that was a new world in itself because I all I had to do was roll out of bed and brush the weave down and I was good to go. It was like I blinked, and suddenly there was no more relaxed hair. I am now two years natural, and the growth is insane, the thickness is insane. I have high-density hair(there is no seeing my scalp unless I part it, and that is a fight in itself), thick and fine strands, and low porosity. And a mixer of type 3 curls.
    You are newly natural, and therefore, your hair is still discovering itself. Right now, it looks to be 3c in the front with a mix of 4a. But I can't truly be sure of that because of the length and the fact that as it grows out, the texture can change. But the way those curls are sitting in the front, I say 3c as of right now. The back looks to be in the 4 range. Beautiful, beautiful hair is healthy hair. Can't wait for you to rock a big fro. And if you find out being natural just isn't for you, don't feel guilty, it doesn't mean you love yourself any less. People love what they love. There is no crime to it. Have a blessed journey girl. 🤗🙏🏾

      Girl, this was so helpful! Thank you for this. Yes, I'm really curious what my hair type is. I figure it'll change more and more as my hair grows out. I'm going to keep supporting you even if you don't ever relax your hair again!! I completely understand why you had to do a big chop. This is your hair journey and you look so pretty even on your Instagram picture!! I'm proud that you are involving us in your journey and keep bringing videos so I can continue to learn!!

    I don’t even know you, this is my first time on your channel and I literally want to cry seeing you go through this. Omgoodness!This is just heart breaking. Sometimes I wonder if some hair stylist are jealous of people with long beautiful hair like yours. No good will follow the person that did this to your hair. This journey is a testimony, just how you had to cut off your hair to get it to grow is how we have to cut people out of our lives in order to grow and be the best we can be. What the devil meant for bad trust and believe God meant it for your good!

    So sorry about your bad hair experience.(I suffered a bad one too, about 2 years ago-- jacked up cut and color rinse.) I am glad you have such a great, positive attitude about it. I was LIVID!😬. Your hair will be beautiful, still!💜 Congratulations on your new life journeys! Change can be a definite Blessing!

    Omg, I just found your account this week and I was finding so much hope with your relaxed Hair. I hate that this happened to you but like everyone has said- it will grow back. You’ve done it before, which means you can do it again. And with how you care for your hair, your length will be back soon. ❤️ Your natural curls though are LEGIT gorgeous! ❤️❤️❤️

    Good job, it's gonna bounce back. See now you are gonna love your natural hair. you said you like volume, and your hair is pretty thick, so imagine it natural. the volume! It's gonna be a little work, but so worth it when your hair looks amazing!

  • @natoutes7412
    @natoutes7412 6 років тому

    I believe shorter healthy hair looks better than long damaged hair. Many women hang on to their long damaged hair thinking they will get better. Your shorter hair is beautiful and looks so healthy and shiny. I believe you took the right decision, hang in there don't give up!💪💪💪

    Health before length, good on you for doing what's best for you and your hair. I would love to see the differences in taking care of relaxed hair vs natural hair.
    I honestly don't think the coloring damage is your fault. You made it clear to the stylist that you planned on relaxing your hair again in the future, and he didn't take that seriously.
