I’m halfway through the painting process on HK’s 1/32 Mitchell. I used some of your techniques (although somewhat bastardized) on mine. Great videos, they’ve been a big help!

Lacquer up. lol Good video. I just got me a Sparmax TC620 Air compressor. Now I need to learn how to paint. :D :D
    Will be watching your videos.

Nice video. I have been looking at giving lacquers a go. How do you go with weathering, say like the hairspray techniqe and chipping solution for chips and sratches or the effect where paint has worn dpwn to the base material like aluminium on a WW2 aircraft seat?

I agree with salt technique. But I am using water based glue. Removal is very easy and works well with more fragile paints.

Nice - but you need to get that camera at an offset angle for live airbrushing. Paint cup is kinda boring to look at. Also, compressors respond well to clicker training.

Hi, please help me to solve one issue with the painting of my models airbrush. When I paint with Tamiya paints and Mr.Hobby on plastic often formed the rough places like the sandpaper like a solvent to dissolve plastic. Can give any advice, can I use a lot of solvent? Thanks

Will.... what kind of clear coat do you use on top of the MRP in order to protect it during the weathering process? Should the clear coat be acrylic or lacquer based?

    • @barpfoto
      @barpfoto  3 роки тому

none unless i need it for some other reason.

@@barpfoto Thanks. I thought military modelers put down a gloss clear coat for the decals, clear coated again, then weathered.

Any thoughts on the MRP primers? They do a few colours and curiously a metallic primer which is very interesting.

Awesome video Will. I had already feel in love with MRP, but you just opened up some new areas for me. Three questions: 1) What is the brand of the liquid frisket you are using. I want to make sure its a thin one like yours. 2) I'm assuming the stencils for blackbasing are the Artool ones? Are you using the standard size ones or the "Mini" set? After I watched ep178 I got a set of the Mini's, but now not sure if the patterns aren't too small. 3) You mentioned about doing additional coloring with oil on the panel on the underside. Have you done any videos on oil rendering? I haven't seen any but could have missed it. If not are you going to do one in the future?
Thanks again for the video. It's getting saved in my "Instrutional" folder.
    Stephen

I would like to know where you get your MRP Paint from? I only found Hobby-World online and they really suck to deal with. From paying to backorders I've had issues. MRP won't send to Oklahoma from Slovakia, I tried that already. What is your source online???

Alec F1 Sorry, dude but to be blunt if you’re having problems with hobby world it’s you. Matt is one of the nicest guys on the planet and will bend over backwards to make sure customers are taken care of. If you communicate with him clearly there is just about nothing he won’t work to find for you.

will pattison Really?! Maybe I didn't try hard enough then! He must be really busy keeping up with orders then. Yeah, the whole Pay-Pal thing is annoying, but I had double ordered some glossy sea blue because it seemed there was a difference in the description, I explained this way ahead of the ship date in an email to take off and let someone else have a chance to buy it. No response - shipped anyway. No big deal, my fault, but then I had weird problems with shipping charges. I selected the option to ship what's in stock first, but get charged twice even though it all shipped once the backorder was in stock, just to have another color go on backorder while waiting on the original backorder! Strange. Seems like they might be overwhelmed. Guess I'll keep plugging away. He's not losing my business anytime soon since I just ordered more MRP 2 days ago like some kind of junkie! I gotta have my MRP.

will pattison By the way, I love your videos, tips, and technique! I've been eating up your vids! I'm an A&P sheetmetal guy on an AFB here, and your pieces look like the junk I see in real life and in old photos I comb through. I see real military hardware everyday and your models are more realistic to my eyes than most. Keep up the great work and the videos!

Hm. This sounds like a communication issue that could easily be solved. I promise you… I don’t vouch for people lightly and I have known Matt now for over two years and I consider him to be one of the best. I can tell you that he gets a lot of orders for MRP and he sometimes does run out before the guys in Slovakia get him a new shipment. Are you on Facebook? If you are, look me up and friend me and I will connect the two of you guys so you can get this squared away.

Okay, I hate facebook, but I friended you
Yeah, that sounds good. I'd like to see if my backorder is for the MRP Light Gray FS36375 or really the light gull gray. I think there is a mixup there.

      Hi! Same here.
The MRP lacquers are the best paints that I have tried up to this point.
Unfortunately I am not thrilled with their shades (colours)...
Olive Drab looks ok though. I noticed it in Will's previous video and wondered what paints had he used... Now I know. 🙂

I really feel sorry for novices in this hobby.
They watch these videos in utube (not only here) and believe these techniques are essential for modeling. They get frustrated, disappointed and angry trying to do all these gimmicks...

Matt McDougall wannabe. It's obvious from the "Black basing/marbling technique" you use to the use of MRP paints to the "Shut up compressor" comment and the use of what ya'll call your paint mule.. Lol!

he's a good friend. i chat with him every day. i can think of worse guys to emulate, but wannabe? nah, but i'm sure he'd also say you can take your snide remark and go fuck yourself.
