- An intoxicated man is placed in isolation after becoming aggressive and causing a scene. Elsewhere, an identity thief is booked into jail, but with multiple false identities officers can't figure out what her real name is and she can't remember her own real birthday.
Jail is an American documentary reality television series that follows suspects in custody from booking through to incarceration. The show documents events in different jails across the U.S. Jail is the sister show to Cops, a show that follows police officers on patrol.

My sister is a CO at a MEDSEC prison and they call her "Granny". When she works the night shift they shout "Granny's home! Hands above the covers boys!" They are all respectful and protective of her, because she is respectful, protective and fair with them. She maintains discipline too. She loves her job.

I actually saw a family jail in a documentary once. If the custodial parent has no family to take care of the kids they allow the kids to stay with the parent and go to school in the prison too. Not sure how I feel about this though.

jail inmates are likely there is even medical staff there. In a harsher society....they are going to throw you in a cell with NO even mattress and get back to you, MAYBE the next day. You will be sleeping on concrete, and no toilet paper, either.

As a veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan I feel for Maurice..I’ve had many friends that have struggled with alcohol and it’s a shame vets can’t get the help they really need.

The having a drink thing and continuing your day really does not apply to some folks.....as a result, literally of this, many choose to GIVE UP or even refuse promotions and positions they would OTHERWISE be suited for. Some wind up in JAIL, missing court dates and blowing off all responsibilities. THIS is what happens when alcohol DOMINATES YOU. You watch all your blessings slip away, and this is NOT a joke. This is a very serious disease, they can beat the "you made a choice" into a person until one is near DEAD. The response? Where the f is the vodka bottle. THIS is what happens.

Alcohol is a problem
Yes, and so is immaturity. Many of these adults act like 2-year-olds, especially when drunk.
Why does the court impose so much fines on people who cannot afford to pay them? It's like keeping them in debt for the rest of their lives. A never ending hell.
Because a punishment isn't suppose to be pleasant. How else could they deter their bad behavior? They can take away their freedom but jail is like vacation to some people. They can send them to a 12 step program but a lot of people will sign their own meeting sheet or have someone else sign it and go right back to what they were doing. I lived in a sober living environment and I was the only person legitimately doing a program. People would ask me to sign their meeting sheet for them and instead of being resentful about it, I told them, "sure I'll sign it...wherever two addicts/alcoholics are gathered together with a book, it's a meeting. Go grab a book!" It worked too.
I mean having legal fees isn't as bad as being involuntarily committed to an asylum or what other countries do to discourage criminal behavior. If there are no consequences, why would anyone desire to change for the better?

As a person that had a drinking problem it actually took jail and the criminal Justice system to get my life changed!!!

As a recovering addict who has slipped so many times I majorly feel for the last guy who relapsed, cause I could immediately and distinctively tell he was recently in recovery when he had sobered up and talked about it. I hope his life is going good and that he stays clean and sober:,)

With the court system the way it is, yeah, even with all those charges, he's probably correct. He'll get a very short sentence or get out on probation and be home for Christmas.
I respect how both the jailers and the producers of this show recognize the humanity of these people.
Everyone makes mistakes. Some people, unfortunately, make the same ones over and over. Most people, though, deserve to be treated with dignity and respect until they show they're not worthy of it.
