Someone said to me that the reason why Hiccup said, “Dad, STOP!” was because Hiccup would’ve jumped out of the way at the last second. Hiccup has experience of Toothless shooting at him when he’s sick or under control, and he’s always jumped out of the way…. And now whenever I watch that scene, it hurts more.
I’m pretty sure the reason he said stop to his dad because he thought stoick would kill the dragon to save his son and hiccup wouldn’t want to live without toothless anymore but stoick knew that it would make his son really upset/mad so he sacrifices himself and takes the hit instead of hiccup, although you could say he wouldn’t do that as he wouldn’t know if hiccup would live after sacrificing himself but I think this theory is correct.
I remember watching this in theater and being so captivated. When Stoik died I teared up and felt a bit embarrassed that I was crying at a kids movie. But I looked around the theater room and saw kids and parents crying alike. There was even one kid who broke down and sobbed and his parents were trying to calm him down. It's astonishing that the film conveyed so much emotion, despite having a kid demographic.
That’s what I hate about this whole “kids” stigma with films and shows, a lot of people write off a movie or show because its made for kids yet a lot of these movies still convey heavy amounts of emotion, character development, worldbuilding etc. and really hit you with mature themes outta nowhere. For instance this franchise, kung fu panda, avatar the last airbender a number of older Disney movies, adventure time and gravity falls among others all have fantastically written heart touching moments and incredible plot and characters, not just mindless entertainment meant to keep kids occupied. Sorry went on a bit of a rant there
@@Hunts-so1jb that is true. But there are also quite a few kids films that go all out with the family friendly U content and cliché tropes, not to mention toilet humor and often may as well be spelling everything out for the audience. But once kids reach the age of 5 or 6 they may not be ready for full on adult topics found in adult films (or films with higher age ratings than their age) but they can definitely handle a "proper" film rather than dumbed down toddler content. So most kids films are meant for that kind of audience, the ones that are able to start properly understanding things in the world around them. Plus the creators of good kids films also realise the parents have to watch it too, parents won't recommend a film to other parents if they found it awful to sit through.
If your crying now your not ready for HTTYD 3. It's soooo perfect, wrapped up the trilogy in a satisfactory way. I know many of the fans would be upset at toothless for choosing a girl over someone he's known for years but you have to understand that he's the last of his kind and has never seen another like him. He's also a venture so realistically he will chose to be with/ mate Edit: Seb stop apologizing for being emotional, this movie is truly amazing and heartfelt. Allow yourself to get lost in the world of dragons
I hardly cry at movies or shows but I cried when stoick sacrificed himself for hiccup and when hiccup had to let toothless go, also somehow dagurs letter and his supposed sacrifice had me kinda emotional until I realized he didn’t die and I felt stupid lmao
The first film will always be my favorite but the second one is great IMO. The third is not my personal favorite, however I appreciate that it wasn't a cash-grab sequel and overall it's a very solid film. It definitely has its moments and not gonna lie, it had my grown ass crying.
"If one of them dies..." :O Also, you're incredibly good at recognizing voice actors almost immediately, it def is the guy who "didn't know who Starlord was" like that's such a small character in that movie and I know the dude's voice is unique but damn, I was impressed regardless.
I think the reason drago screams like that is intentional. I think I researched this a while ago so it may be a bit spotty, but years ago warbeasts or elephants as such were trained in similar ways, a trainer would have something similar to drago in their hands or a whip and teach things like obedience and stuff, ordering them around or having them do something specific at the hearing of a scream. it’s quite interesting, yet barbaric
I think this is, objectively, one of the best sequels ever. It has the heart and soul of the first movie, builds and expands while keeping true to what came before. It’s more mature, it takes great risk (like killing Stoic) and it’s just… great! You can really feel that the team making these movies had true love and passion for the project. Many sequels fall short of the original movie, and they almost always dissappoint in some way. I for one actually think the second HTTYD is better than the first and I know many who agree. The rest seem to agree with you: it might not be better, but it’s damn close. I’ve never seen anyone be like ”nope, this was trash. Not even close”. So yeah. One of the best sequels ever!
this is one of my favourite films of all time, and I do prefer it to the first and third films, although the first one is amazing. The whole trilogy is. So glad you're liking them! I think I like this one better because Hiccup is more matured here and the freedom of flying is represented so well here. And the score is incredible.
Never apologize for showing your emotions, or hold them back. So many UA-camrs do, and you are one of the few that actually show their emotions and tears. Don’t stop.
It's not just a trilogy. There is a 7 season tv series (riders of Berk, defenders of Berk, Race to the Edge) that takes place inbetween the 1st and 2nd movie. That's a must see.
This movie is perfect, the soundtrack, animation, story and characters are totally amazing. definitely my favorite animated movie. I loved the soundtrack and the first appearance of hiccup flying with toothless, they express some freedom and peace, really impressive.
There's actually a show called "Dragon's: Riders of Berk" that takes place in between this move and the first. It's a great show and also explains some stuff
I've seen this in the theatre when it came out, and I remember looking around and only seeing kids with their parents😅 but it was worth it 100% I'm so happy you enjoy these movies too😊😊
The bewilderbeast's story is quite sad since he lived with pain and agony and abused by drago to be a killing machine, the worst thing is dragon found him while he was a hatchling.
If youre interested, theres actually a netflix series! The series takes place before this movie, but just after the first one. Its called Race to the edge.
It's rare for there to be a good sequel, and they actually did it with this one. The first one is always going to be nostalgic for me, but the second one just as much! Especially since it was the last movie I saw with my ex before we broke up.
I know im a little late to the party with this vid, but there is actually a short film that's "x-mas edition" that was released after the first film. Hiccup actually built him a tail where he could fly on his own! But I urge you to watch it to find out why Toothless cant fly on his own still. There is also a whole TV series that takes place between the first and second film in the trilogy, you find out about so much lore and intel on the dragons and it really adds on to the heartbreak of Stoic's death because he was a main character in the show as well ofc. There is so much more to absorb and watch with the series and will always be my childhood favorite, even now, I cried/ got teary eyed watching you watch the movies even though I've seen them hundreds of times by now as an adult haha. Nothing will top How to Trakn your Dragon for me.
As a HTTYD fan these movies are just peak fiction I loved the first the 2nd and the third made me cry hard these movies mean something to me back in like 2015 I be watching this film every morning I be eating breakfast while watching it
If you can’t get enough of this fandom/want more of it. There are 3 tv-shows that are really great! I would love to see such a great reactor, such as you react to it. Dragons - Riders of Berk, Dragons - Defenders of Berk, Dragons - Race to the Edge.
dunno if anyone told you (they didn't put it in the film because it's family-friendly), but it is heavily implied that Drago abused his alpha since he(the alpha) was a baby, which is why it is so afraid of that stick.
"What, are they the only village who hated them (dragons)?" Stoic directly says that when Drago burned the hall to the ground, he was the only one to get out alive. He also says that the meeting was to discuss how to tackle the ever-present threat of wild dragons, which were at the time stealing their food supplies to feed the Red Death from the first movie. Since Drago ended up killing pretty much all the chieftains of the local clans, said clans would've faced a change in leadership in the midst of those attacks, and likely succumbed entirely to the dragons over time. Hiccup only barely saved Berk; they were fighting a losing war and eventually wouldn't've been able to sustain their food replenishment, and would've starved. The dragons, meanwhile, would target any settlement or civilization, because of course they would - any place like that is not only threatening their numbers, but also hoarding food. Once the Red Death was defeated, however, the other dragons could safely return to the ecosystem, no longer under the tyrannical control of the alpha nor the threat of being eaten themselves if they didn't. So they didn't need Berk's food supplies anymore, as hunting for themselves would do. While far from the only dragon riders, Berk is among the last of the viking villages, and so doesn't really need to be quiet about it. They don't have any neighbors anymore beyond the dragons themselves. However, most other dragon riders are a lot more discreet about it - think about it. Drago built up his army in relative secrecy, and killed those he offered help to, intended no one to remember him and prepare to fight back. His men aren't much more likely to leave questioners alive if they tell about it (and they assumed Hiccup and Astrid knew when they first encountered each other), other than just being dragon trappers, which likely isn't that uncommon of an idea, given how good a food source and other cultural values it might be for some places, and the general threat they pose. Valka also lives in hiding, and is the only human there anyways, but her dragons live in that oasis without often drawing attention to themselves.
Fun fact the httyd franchise are the only movies that have a proper connection to the stories in the shows for example skullcrusher was introduced in the show and if you didn’t see the tv show you would’ve been wondering where stoic got skullcrusher
It's heavily accepted that Drago raised his Bewilderbeast from an egg and beat it with his bullhook until it obeyed his command. It's afraid of the hook and so it listens, even though it's so much bigger and powerful. It's similar to how elephants are afraid of bullhooks.
When this movie first came out, I underestimated it and watch it half a year after it was release. I really thought this movie was bad. I stand corrected. This was one of the best cartoon for me.
I think my favorite joke was, "Never take a toy from a dragon. Don't you know anything?" as Astrid leaves him at the mercy of her dragon without a backward glance.
If you really want to see Dragons more powerful than toothless go watch the Defenders Of Berk and Dragons Race to the Edge! There fantastic show’s and build up the tension, experience, and relationships of the dragon riders throughout the 5 years! And it also gives a huge story arc for Hiccup and Astrid’s relationship, it makes me cry so many times! 😭 😭😭
There are series between the first ande the second movie, one is defenders of berk and the other is race to the edge, personally the both are amazing and explain the dragon's history, I recommend it 😁
I LOVE this movie series so much! If you ever wanted to (in a way) continue the story, or deep dive into the story, there is a TV show that was first aired on CartoonNetwork then was picked up by Netflix. It basically adds more to the lore and backstory of the characters, world, and lore. You don't have to watch it at all and can just enjoy these movies, but Dragons: Riders of Berk really bring in more world and new characters that aren't in the movies. Worth watching

It basically adds more to the lore and backstory of the characters, world, and lore. You don't have to watch it at all and can just enjoy these movies, but Dragons: Riders of Berk really bring in more world and new characters that aren't in the movies.
Worth watching
@Adam Akmal oh for SURE! Sorry I should've included the titles for the separate seasons/series lol
It's like watching a child seeing something new
can't wait for the third reaction
Best movie out of the trilogy imo
