To be completely honest, I've never been a big fan of symphonic metal, not even Nightwish before Floor Jansen became the singer. I was familiar with the band, but didn't really care much. But man, the whole Wacken 2013 concert blew my mind, I got hooked and now I'm obsessed (in a good way) with Nightwish and Floor. Your friend Bobby was 100% accurate: top tier musicians, amazing singer with classical training, charisma and stage presence off the charts. Just amazing.
You are very sympathetic guy, whre you know so many famous musician people? Allways good listen music teaction from y frends…😊 Keyboards pipes are flamerhrowings…
That's the thing with Nightwish, even if you're absolutely not liking the genre, they always seems to get the respect they deserve for the talent and craftmanship they have. I've heard plenty of times from people that they do not like the genre, but not a single one of them was not impressed by the vocals and the tight arrangements of the songs + musicians. So no matter what, Nightwish always leaves an strong impression on people, and from that moment on, you wont ever forget who Nightwish are. And you doing an amazing job to introduce the band to all these roadies, tour-managers, and technicians cannot hurt either, they have the ability to show this music to people who actually can do something with it, plan venues or even tours if they wanted to. And with the (clearly) rise in popularity in the USA that Nightwish has seen these last few years, tells me it would very likely be massively successful. So.. ty for spreading the good word and who knows.. extra shows might come from this at some point ;)
I had to chuckle when you said that "not a single one of them was not impressed by the vocals ....." because right after I was blown away by my first exposure to Nightwish ("Ghost Love Score") I played it for a friend who loves 'dance' music and they didn't like Nightwish AT ALL, so, I have to enjoy them all by myself.
Just subscribed. The fact that you spread the message about Nightwish to your friends did it. It's so awesome. It's so wrong that not the whole world knows about this Finnish gem, isn't it?
Joel, you got to check out the Nightwish performance of their song “Romanticide” live from Wacken 2013. It’s an incredible performance! And you need to watch it for yourself so you can start sharing it with other road buddies of yours as well
They are their own genre. There have been songs of their's when on the first listen I'm not sure I like it then by the 3rd time it becomes one of my favorites. Every song has to marinade in me and that's why I love them. Never boring.
Hi Joel. Another really fun reaction. I enjoy how you are introducing all of your old buddies to our beloved Nightwish with Floor Jansen. So much fun seeing, even friends who are into a different genre, appreciate the talent of Floor and Nightwish. You can pass along to Bobby that I really enjoyed his honest opinion of the genre and the band. Loved it.
That one sentence he said: 'It's not my genre' is why so many American music listeners miss out on SO MANY great bands. They get stuck only listening to one certain type of music instead of expanding their "music vocabulary" and listening to everything that's out there. I listen to everything from Trance, to New Age, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Pop, Metal... you name it. I've found that the more different types of music I listen to the happier I am. Expand your musical intelligence people! There is a whole wide world of musical variety out there and it may just surprise you how much great music there is in EVERY genre.
this right here. I do primarily listen to metal, but I listen to almost all the other genres. this is one thing I hate about our American music industry, they seem to think that people are only interested in pop music or country. it seems like they almost ignore the other genres.
I don't think it's just Americans, I think a sizable majority of people in the UK would be hard pushed to name any songs of any band outside of the mainstream charts, or indeed even the name of a band itself. As to the genre thing I suppose it's a carry over from being a kid. I think it's fair to say most of us as kids had our music genre we got into at a formative age and anything outside of it was immediately "crap". Then you expand your musical horizons as you get older but I guess some don't and keep that mentality.
Don't assume that just because someone says it's not their genre that they are close-minded and haven't tried listening to it. I've listened to lots of genres of music, but most of them don't appeal to me. I have tried listening to Nightwish multiple times, but the music does nothing for me.
@@robertott1172 Exactly, there's nothing wrong with having specific tastes.. It doesn't make you narrow minded and you don't have to 'broaden your horizons' or anything... Some people's ears are just tuned to certain things, certain instruments, textures, voices, tempos. It's such an elitist view to think that because someone else doesn't like what you like, they're somehow shallow or musically illiterate.
I would agree. I saw Nightwish in Oklahoma City in 2009 with a venue of maybe 75 people. I just don't understand, and still don't, why they aren't popular here.
I'd not heard of Nightwish or Floor until around 12 months ago and have had my musical world turned upside down and inside out eversince after watching and listening to "The Poet and the Pendulum" live from Wembley 2015. Phenomenal band. Wacken 2013 is the bands live showcase and the go to but there are so many other magnificent live shows to choose from. Thank you. Paul 🙏😊❤️👍
this 'finding a band thing' reminds me of music when I was a kid. Going through record stores, reading CD / album notes, producers all that, and then buying things you've never heard before. Just thinking about this kinda shit reminds me I'm not getting any younger. how good are nightwish, hey? like you need to answer (lol)!
With u on the "surprised u never heard them" on both sides ...a few years ago I didn't and now them and Pink Floyd in my top 3 band. So I understand and also it surprises me on some level...
These are fun. Nightwish at Wacken 2013 is without a doubt one of the greatest shows to have ever happened. Top 10 or 20. I highly suggest another series of these with Lovebites live performances. I'd watch all of those. I think they are even less well know. Your guests would probably even be unaware of the depth of the Japanese metal scene, and be totally surprised. And, it doesn't hurt that Lovebites is the greatest metal band in the world, imho. I love Nightwish and Floor, but they're in the symphonic arena, so I can love them equally. 🙂
So you have worked with Buckethead? During that era of GnR, that is amazing. Anyway, greetings from Finland! Great reaction, could you also do Manowar - Warriors of the World United Live, thank you :)
Yes, your worshipping gesture is to the point. Nightwish and Floor are almost a religious experience. Discovering Nightwish is almost like "seeing the light" 😅. Slightly over the top put of course.....but they come very close....
You realy should also react go "7 days to the wolfes" from this Show and (one of my favorites) "weak fantasy" from the Tampere Show . Greats from germany 🙋🏼♀️ and if you miss Marco I also recomment "The Islander " from the same show
Bobbys reaction was great because I thought the same , great band great singing but Pop - tart. Other songs from the concert are much better and I think High Hopes from years ago Bobby would really like. Dimash is hands down the best male singer ( Ogni Pietra ) and a lot of his stuff I appreciate for the vocal talents. Thanks for the reactions
The reason this song sounds so poppy is because it was originally written for Anette who has a Pop style voice, very high and bright compared to Tarja's dark, operatic vocals. Floor just rocks out on this and makes it more palatable.
Hi, I really don't understand why you didn't play "Romanticide" for the ex-Aerosmith worker, or something heavier by them. Only then would he broaden his musical tastes. This song is good but quite pop and your approach to the whole thing was quite naive.
Their music is very dynamic but they most certainly do belong to the genre of Symphonic/Goth Metal. They are one of the cornerstone bands along with Therion, The Gathering, and Theatre of Tragedy.
@@ToTheWolves that you should take the animation off? I ment the pokerface he got. Totally bored while the song was playing but still praizing them after. Not much of a reaction guy.

I'm with you!!!I Nightwish is amazing! I don't love all of the Tarja stuff, but I am obsessed as well!!!! I feel like I keep discovering their music.
Same thing here, since watching Wacken 13 and Floor's job, total Nightwish fan.
Agree 100% 🙏😊👍
Nightwish is the best kept secret in music. I really appreciate what you are doing to make them less secret.
