      Thanks 👍 if you must stay with 16.5" tires try the offer up app and do some searches around your area alot of times they have the radials fairly new or brand new cheap .
      If you can only pick up 1 or 2 on the cheap it's better than buying all four expensive other option look for some 16"s on that site there pretty cheap as well I've seen 8 lug 16x7 for 100 bucks set of four then you can get 16"s in any size you want .😉

    Update .....i recently sold all my bias ply tires although if you are in a bind and have 16.5 " tires on a truck / motor home / van I highly recommend the firestone Transforce Radials HT they are expensive in a 16.5 i am running them on my 69 F250 and love them i cruise 70 on the fwy all day 😊.
    The nostalgic bias ply the power king super highway, deedtstone 902 or sampson etc i only recommend for a trailer , they are loud over 65 and primary made for trailers .

    Thank you this was very helpful. I was just in a tough spot cause I have old 16.5 ford rims, I was thinking of going with a bias ply for a nostalgic look as well as the cheap price but now I think I'm gonna shell out for 5 of those transforce radials. That is a very nice tire and is definitely gonna look good on my 79 f100

      There really good tires radials I suggest looking on a site like Facebook marketplace or offer up craigslist first before buying them new , sometimes those Indy tire shops get them new sell for 80 bucks each .
      I am currently running them I sold the classic look plys they looked good but we're very noisy .

      Those are good tires they make them in 16,17,18" as well the tread is like the Hankook tire 255/70/16

    How about Interco Tires out of Louisiana?

    • @TheThirdWheel618
      @TheThirdWheel618  5 місяців тому

      Yeah 👍 16.5 " interco swampers I was searching not to long ago and found a few brands I never heard of in 16.5" but they were super pricey compared to a 16" 17" and so on.
      I'm moved on from them due to not having a safety bead on the wheel itself 😕 I went to a tire shop to swap wheels with my 16.5" and he unscrewed the valve and once the tire reached around 15 psi the tire just de beaded itself 😲 strange thing to see with a common 15" 16" 17" it will go completely flat and you need to break the bead of the tire off the wheel .

    Man I’m in this situation right now. I have a 68 F250 with the 16.5 x 9.75 old chrome wheels with General Grabber ST 33x12.5 R16.5LT and can’t get a straight answer from the tire shops on finding any All Terrain or mostly Highway travel tires and no towing so really light duty. The Firestone tires you’re showing is what I’m looking for. So I’ve had to start looking for replacing the wheels and tires and am at well over 1,300. So you think those tires are still available and I just need to keep searching? Thanks for any info

      @TheThirdWheel618  Рік тому +1

      The Firestone transforce is readily available it's a highway tire but it's a very strong tire it's rated for towing higher than a 16 I think the load rating on it was like 3,300 lb or more.
      They make it in a 9.5 x 16.5 look on OfferUp if you have that in your area download the app sometimes people have fairly new takeoffs that they're selling cheap because nobody wants them or not too many people are looking for them.
      They do make off-road terrain and snow tires in a 16 and 1/2 but they're very expensive they sell them on summit they sell them at jegs and they also have them on four wheel parts wholesale but I don't know if you have that in your area but they the website you can buy them but they're expensive they're like 300 bucks a tire. They have them in the 33 by 12 and a half by 16 and a half for like 300 bucks a tire.

      I also have 4 16" inch wheels as well they're 16 7s but I'm in the dilemma that you are that's why I keep running the 16 and a half. I bought the tires for $150 a tire about 5 years ago and I have 95% treads so why buy new 16s and spend $1,300 like you're talking but to make the transition from 16.5 to 16s would be cheaper in the long run I know right now the 1300 is the killer but down the road 16s are always going to be cheaper.

      If you look up Firestone transforce 9.50 x 16.50 on Google search it'll come up all over the place that is a tire that they're not going to stop producing anytime soon it's a very popular tire.

      @@TheThirdWheel618 first, thanks for the quick response. This is very helpful as the truck will only be used for tooling around town definitely the first year after restoring it so really zero heavy duty or off road use. I’ll check out offer up and see what I find and I figure later I’ll swap to 16s until I can afford it since it I’m spending so much to get it back in running shape. It’s not a show car. Thanks again and those are cool steel wheels! Helpful video.

      @@mredmister3014 yes I sold them and I regretted it if you have four good shape original 16 and a half I wouldn't sell them.
      Maybe nobody wants them now but down the road somebody will I sold my original set that came with my f250 and I put the wagon wheels on it and later on I wanted to go back to the steelies with the hubcaps and I couldn't because I sold them.
      Then I bought four Ford F-250 steelies and I had to track them down all over the place to find them one of them was bent but I was able to make it work with the other four that I had.
      I painted them that candy apple red and bought those bias plies those power kings for 332 a pair so for all four it would have been about 650 and those were some nice tires but I ended up selling them after I picked up the 16-in wheels on OfferUp so there's been a lot of back and forth but the power King bias plies that really gave it a classic vintage look.

    Will 295/50 fit on 16.5x12?

      No way a tire shop won't even mount a 16" tire on a 16.5" rim the beads are totally different.

    Thank you for this great info, I bought a heavy duty boat trailer and it came with 16.5 /6 lug tires, unfortunately it did not have a spare tire. The wheels that it has are very nice vintage wheels but all I need is a spare wheel, I've look long and hard for wheel with no luck.
    What place did you get your 16.5 wheels from?
    Gracias for sharing your video.

      Download the app offer up and do a search for 16.5 wheels I'm sure you will find some there .
      As far a tires I'm thinking they were 8.75x16.5 for a trailer you might find a decent tire on there too but that size is common for a trailer and pretty reasonable new .
      The deestone 902 or power King super highway 2 several others .
