Really grateful for this video, I’ve just changed the light/button unit on my 2015 B-max, and it’s the same procedure as the Focus in this video. The toughest part was removing the black interior trim, those clips are a pain in the ass… but it worked. I went slowly, I followed the advice, and got the job done. Thank you for your help, very much appreciated 👍🏻
I’ve watched a lot of “how to” videos on different things and I’d ave to say this is one of the best I’ve seen. Nicely edited, clear lighting and good voice over explaining everything. Thanks dude!
Hey, I wanted to say thank you. This is the only tutorial I found on the internet for fixing the license plate light on the Mk3 focus. On the American model you don't need to remove the tail lights you just have to get under the hatchback plastic and remove those 6 bolts with a 10mm extended deep socket wrench.. thank you!
Thank you so much for making this video. You are so good at explaining everything in detail, please keep making your videos, they are much appreciated and thank you again.
This was a very helpful video. I have a 2014 Ford Focus SE and it has the same part and same part number. I just got pulled over last night for not having a tag light. It says at Ford it had a lifetime LED bulb in the unit. So I am buying a new unit today. THANK YOU SO MUCH....Very helpful....
Thank You Mesteru' Dexter , we have the MK3 hatchback so lights in corner wings but good info as needed to know how to remove LED number plate lamp cluster for a swap to a reverse camera module , with LED illumination. :)
I have got a CC3 cabriolet and the button does not work. I am hoping that it is a similar job and this video was very very useful. Thank you for your clear and concise instructions, excellent.
If you do ever chip a tail light and glue it back together you can get rid of the line where it cracked by brushing on some clear acrylic nail polish or acrylic floor polish. Don’t use petroleum-based clearcoat, it will craze the plastic.
This is a great video! I have a Ford Fiesta 2009 Titanium and have been having issues with boot open warning light (comes on and off when boot closed) and alarm triggered if locked. I've taken off the trim before to inspect the tailgate release latch/lock and looked fine. So could it be the switch/button failing?
Salut, vreau sa schimb emblema spate la un Focus 3 breck exact ca cel din videoul tau....trebuie sa urmez cumva tot procesul...din bideo sau se poate altfel?Ms!
Great video dude! It was very informative and helpful. I find it absolutely unacceptable that you need to dismantle that much of the car to change a 2 minute part...whoever the engineer of that was needs to get slapped up the side of the head... Also, of note, the part number for that switch/light assembly has been changed 5x since they were first made, and they have also gone up in price ($118.00 CDN, previously $72.55). And Ford wonders why they are losing customers so often now...Sheesh. At least with your video, I can understand how to do this job in my 2014 Focus ST easily enough.
Or you can get the easy way. When you have the new module in your hands you will see the position of the plastic clips holding the module in place. Now looking at your faulty module slowly drill a few holes in the side of it (where you put your hand) to where the retaining clips are. Gradually move to a larger sized drill bit, taking care not to go too hard or slip onto your paint work. When the clip has been drilled through and weakened gradually pull the module out from the weakened side, the rest will follow. Unclip the power lead, reconnect it to the new module and just check that it is lit before you clip it in place. Job done, 10 minutes maximum time no panels or lights to remove 😊
READ THIS IF YOU WANT TO SAVE SOME TIME. There really is no need to take all that stuff off. I just replaced the number plate/tailgate release module on my 2012 Focus estate, in a couple of minutes, with nothing more than a cordless drill, a 6mm drill bit and a small flat bladed screwdriver. Method :- Hold the replacement module against the broken module, to ensure they are the same. If all is well, note where the two plastic securing tabs are on the new unit and simply drill through the faulty module in the same places, at a slight angle, to weaken the tabs, being careful not to damage the edges of the mounting hole in the panel. Don't worry about damaging the module you will be throwing it away anyway. Now the tabs are weakened, you will notice that the module is very lose and almost falling out. Just gently tease it out with the screwdriver until the electrical connector plug is is visible, and unclip it. (Don't worry, there will be plenty of slack in the wires). I then just cleaned the old plug with a squirt of electrical connection cleaner, (optional) clicked on the new module and gently pushed it back into the hole, until it made a reassuring click, so I knew it was secure. That's it! Job done. Good luck.
Its a lifetime LED lamp not a "bulb". All you have to do is strip and clean it. They are on eBay but only from China. Its a tailgate lamp switch uint for a Ford Focus Mk3 (it is same part on estate and hatchbacks)

Where you did got that license plate module? Didn't found it in eBay and other online shops. In my country only Ford dealers have them.
Thank you!

I just used a 'pick' and it came straight out! the whole job took me about 30 seconds lol...
I would rather do this as it looks like it should just pop out. What pick did you use ?
@@lukeenglish A tooth pick
Thank you.
any idea of the part number and is it a worldwide number ?
Thanks for video. One question, rear light is fixed in two rubber hooles?

Why they made it soo difficult to change just a bulb?? Make no sense!!

moi
that's bull shit .. cannot change only the light , fuel tank is always open O.o ... this is adoe to take my fuel
This is not a simple bulb change for the license plate light. Ford sure didn’t make it easy. 😡
