    Spot on Badgertonix. Just what I needed to know. :) The nuts looked like captive one for screws from the trim side.

    Nice one Badgertronix this is a good video which sets the process out easily.
    I almost got there, the two T20 bits came out easily from the trim panel. Unfortunately two of the four 10mm nuts were seized onto the thread and span round without undoing (probably as a result of the car being in rainy old England). Drastic problems calls for drastic measures so I removed the rear registration plate to give me enough clearance and drilled sideways into the trunk switch on either side from the outside of the trunk if you get me. I drilled right through the switch sides and managed to get through the internal side spring tabs which enabled me to take the faulty trunk switch out from the outside. I'd already undone the electrical connection from inside the trunk. Fitting the new switch was straightforward. The only downside being that as I fitted the switch from the outside of the trunk I had to remove the black rubber V cone from the wire to be able to thread it through. I've tried to make do with a bit of silicone sealant applied from inside the trunk lid to deter rainwater.
    I bought a pattern part (a part made by another manufacturer than Ford) off Ebay for significantly less than what Ford are asking which does the job.
    Again.....very informative video. I hope you didn't scratch the trunk lid on your garage door. This is my second Focus Estate (station wagon) and is a German built model same as yours. Made at the Ford Louisa factory in southern Germany where they used to make the Ford Capri and Granada.

    Just what I needed, all instructions were spot on, now I can open it without the remote, thank you! I used my fingers to prise the panel and it worked fine. The fourth screw is better dealt with a normal spanner, there is a hole on the metal that allows you to access it side wise, otherwise I couldn't do it with my ratchet

    DUDE! Thanks for making this! You done it so quickly, only messaged you yesterday. This has given be absolute clarity of what to do now. I had tried taking the switch out from the outside and snapped the plastic LOL. Oh well, buying a whole new switch and cables as I write this. I do have the same car as you but as a hatchback not the estate (wagon) body type so im assuming its the same principle.

      +KayPoint you got lucky I had the part handy and had done it before! Hatchback is the same process but just need to double check the part number. I think it's the same.

    Thanks Dude!
    I just fixed my hatchback switch.
    I found also the "master problem" that affects many ford switches.
    They are not hygro-isolated, so during the years, humidity permeates into the switch himself.
    I found traces of green copper into the micro-switch.
    I just cleaned it and re-assembled (under a microscope) and now it works fine. (so now I have a backup unit)
    The new button I bought from Poland is completely sealed, and could be out in the storm. I hust paid 7 euros and I fixed this problem forever.
    Again Thanks you for your video. You could not have been more understandable!

    Is this the same/similar setup on a 2010 s-max? I have exact same issue, I’m guessing water ingress from bad weather a few weeks ago, 1st symptom was random unlocking while driving and then only unlocking off the key also the number plate lights went out at the same time

    How do would I know if this is the problem my indicator lights say my trunk is open and it is closed. could it be just my fuse?

  • @AlanCooney
    @AlanCooney 2 роки тому

    I fixed mine without removing panel! 2010 Fiesta Mk7, carefully prised switch out with 2 putty knives & screwdriver. When I reassembled it was “loose” fit, so added a black self tap screw to either end to securely hold with no danger of rattling around. The screws are not noticeable owing to being in shadow area above number plate.

    I have a saloon version of this mk2 focus, and I think I’ve got the same issue. The boot lid won’t open. When I click the boot release button on the key and listen in close there is a slight tick noise. When I try to open the boot lid on the switch it doesn’t work. Is it the same part as in this video I need to replace then?

  • @CaptOverShoot
    @CaptOverShoot Рік тому

    Just a thought, this switch is identical to the Fiesta Mk7 and many others, the release switch can be removed in seconds with a sharp pointed pry / lever inserted at any end. It takes only seconds to remove and unplug. I bought a replacement for under £8 in the UK. But the switch could have easily been repaired by removing the 6 phillips screws and dried out, as it was the moisture inside the switch that kept triggering the Boot Opening on my Fiesta. I just used rope to hold the boot lid at the easiest height to work on.

    I have the 2016 ST Focus. After a raining stormy day, the remote would not open the boot, no sound, latch don't work either. After a day it started to open by hand but with several tries and harder presses of the latch. Any ideas. Many thanks. I am Sydney

      +Andy Milward if it doesn't open with the key or the switch it sound like the lock itself is broken. You'll probably have to get in the boot and have a look and hope it's a connection issue. I don't know how you'd go about taking the lock out manually. Cheers
