      And the reason why is actually quite funny, because uncorroborated by data. It is said that shoes must be worn for ‘hygiene’ and ‘safety’, but both are unsubstantiated. Moreover, the first ‘hygiene’ is used as a sort of blanket synonym for ‘anything the average person person thinks has to do with cleanliness’ but that is easily refuted by logic. A gym would be better off if it were mandatory to remove shoes upon entering the building and washing feet prior to entering the gym.

    I've been going to the gym for several years and despite the common perception on the internet, I've always found them to be very positive environments where people are welcome, no one is made fun of, and actually everyone there will always encourage you to do your best and respect you for your will to improve yourself
    Despite all of that, if you show up with those shoes you will get made fun of
    If you want to be barefoot, I've never seen a gym that has any problem with people just wearing socks. And generally, a 10$ fabric shoe with a flat rubber sole will be perfect for most people and will add virtually no cushioning
    And at any rate, this is such a minimal impact thing no beginner to intermediate lifter should bother. Just wear whatever shoe you have, and take it off while doing squat/deadlift if it has a cushion.
    Let's not overcomplicate working out / convince people they need this or that specific piece of equipment in order to be working out "the right way"?

    Labeling shoe width should be mandatory by law. Even Vibram doesn't do it for these Fivefingers (I have a pair that is 4.5 inches wide and perfect. Then I got another pair and they were only 4 inches. Vibram does not want the public to know that the majority of their business is selling shoes and soles for shoes that do not fit, leading people to buy more shoes in search of eventually finding a single pair that actually fits.) This is corr_ption. That is not hyperbole.

    "Oh I can’t imagine wearing toe shoes in public." while wearing sweats, shorts, or t shirts. Those were considered undergarments. Wear what you want and don't let vague, changeable societal rules stop you

    It would be wonderful if those fit my feet better. The bottom of my toe webbing isn’t straight across it goes back back back towards my little toe towards my heel. My little toe hardly fits in that at all and it’s very difficult.
    If they’re going to be like that it would be better to have single space for my fourth and fifth toe.
    Just saying, my brothers and sisters who have a prominent first toe might see that the supplies to them.
    I love my feet they’re just not like the Donatello statues.

    I get the point but still disagree. Shoes force your feet into an unnatural state that is more efficient and effective. Hardcore powerlifters also fall into this trap when the muscle tonicity goes up so high they physically cannot squat their own bodyweight because their muscles have overadapted to squatting with heavy weights.
    The solution is to have recovery periods but not to ditch the entire sport or way of life altogether. Getting rid of foot dexterity so you can turb your foot into one giant spring at the cost of the inability to move in uneven terrain is good for most sports and everyday life.
    How many of you ever need the foot dexterity to step on radically uneven terrain???? Just rehab it every so often and then let it go back to being taped together by ligaments and tendons into one spring.

    Totally
    Wrong. Most of the Gym shoes have flexible front toe box part which can modulate changes in pressure and foot position comfortably. Also, if anything falls on the foot, they get saved. No exercise in Gym requires all toes to be separated from each other and in different directions. So this is total bullshit😊

    • @nakedenby
      @nakedenby Рік тому +1

      Don't be ridiculous. How is any gym shoe going to save your foot from a heavy falling object? Who said toe spread is 'required'? Sure, most exercises could be completed by forcing the toes to remain together, but that's not quite the same is it.
