This is the best Rainbow Road theme, I don't care what anyone says! While most of the later Rainbow Roads are smooth and jazzy, this one's TENSE. It really rattles your nerves and gets your blood pumping when you're on your last continue in 150cc, desperately trying to dodge the electric thwomps and avoid the edges. None of that sissy Mario Kart 64 Rainbow Road where all the edges are walled, this game's the real deal!
Oh, and Bowser's theme is at the end because he can knock everyone off the cliff in Rainbow Road. Go go heavyweights :D

I was too engrossed in the music and spun out on an electrified Thwomp...
...It says something when this caused me to picture the entire course in my mind. Something -good-. Adding the race opening and closing was a very nice touch as well, not something I was expecting at all, but it worked with the song and enhanced the final product.

Really well made, only thing I would say is raise the key for the final lap. Final lap themes have always been several keys higher and the changing of keys combined with the acceleration of tempo really drives in the panicky, fast-paced nature of final laps, especially rainbow road
+hskshag00 No, they haven't. In Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart: Super Circuit, the pitch would always stay the same, even in the final lap, with only the tempo going up. It would actually be less accurate if the pitch were higher.
+Svenskig I stand corrected. Modulation is a later development and the earlier games didn't have them.

I never did figure out how to unlock the Special Cup. Ah well, time trial was always fun.
when the mario paint version sounds better because the bass are not lazer guns, the engines are fricking pigs, and overall sounds better:
