A good seam weld job, roll cage, Group N brake kit, rims and tires, and some ohlins suspension, and you have a decent Rally car to compete in lesser modified classes!
Nice video. Just bought a new '12 sti hatch... waited forever for it after ordering. Put 1000k on it in the first 3 days and took it to the mountains shortly after and ragged the ever living shit out of it. It was one of the funnest days of my life. BUT, having paid 40k cash for it and coming out with numerous chips, dings, etc. (from all of the loose gravel on the roads) I'm hesitant to thrash it any further.... at least for another few weeks, lol
@jbdadizzle no we were not high, it was my friend filming in the passenger seat and yes it was my car, but it ended up getting lemon lawed by SOA with only 20,000 miles on it
i would say they're more of a rally car than any other production vehicle. lets just call it a road-rally car. few minor mods and it can compete in some classes.
@ezrahumane ringlands cracked 3 different time creating a broken seal inside the cylinder...eventually the piston would would shatter or leave shards inside the cylinder. It was in the shop multiple time and I wound up driving a dodge minivan rental while paying insurance rates of a STI..more bs
Huge misconception. They're rally inspired road cars out of Japan to be more exact. I have a 2013 STI. It is in no shape or form a rally car. It's durable to a certain extent, but it is not intended to be driven off road like this.
Cesar Martinez well, you are stupid to do this with a factory sti. the factory sti is only meant for very mild off roading like a flat dirt road at the most. you run a high chance of fucking something up when doing trails like this with out atleast swapping for better suspension and raising a bit. it's not one of the great advantages of having a subie either. only advantage a one is on the flat dirt road like I mentioned. same goes for the lan evo.

Not to many cars can do 0-60 in under 5secs and handle a trail like that.
Great example not to let your dope smoking kids borrow your car. lol
Suddenly. Mud pit.
haha i feel the same way
