Im less than 24 hours from my first time going to Rehab and I just finished Binge watching the 8 part crossing and this episode and I can't wait to catch up once I'm back home. I've had a challenging 36 years on this planet, from being an orphan to group homes and foster homes and a couple battles with addiction. But my biggest regret is that I'm 36 years old and have never seen the world outside of Canada. I will fight hard to win my battle with my demons and I will also someday see the rest of the world! Canada is very blessed with an abundance of diverse, breathtaking landscapes but it still doesn't replace that burning desire to step on foreign soil meet new people and experience new cultures! Thank you so much for sharing your incredible life and adventures with all of us! It's greatly appreciated! I am of the Mètis people, ancestors to the incredible men and women who established Canada as Fur Traders, Guides and interpreters! We are inbued with a spirit for adventure and entrepreneurial endeavors. Blessings!
Back in 1967 I was attending a Prep School in New Jersey. Christmas break came and I rode the train to NY City, took the subway to JFK and then flew to Colorado Springs. Everything on the East Coast smelled like car exhaust. When they opened the door to the aircraft on the tarmac at Colorado Springs Municipal Airport this unbelievably sweet clean rush of air filled the airplane. It was truly a Rocky Mountain high moment. I can relate to you smelling the sweetness in arriving in French Polynesia.
What do you think most 3 year old girls are doing today? Have you ever dumped sooo much love upon Sierra, She will grow with intense love for all these gifts she has been given. Connor and Hannah must be so grateful for this opportunity. Could they ever imagine the site and smell of this land could be so overwhelming. We really see how happiness comes from thoes around us and the creation that was put there for our joy. it really doesnt come from material things does it? Thoes who Delos has met in these places have so much with having so little. Thank you Delos....I will be there someday in my future and I hope it is by sail too.
Conner's comment on smell reminds me of my first rip to Hawaii as a child. "Best smelling airport was my very first thought." Young enough to not understand my global orientation. I've never forgotten that moment.
OK ! lol ! if you say so ! i wasn t there but i heard him when he gave you 5 pamplemousse and that s french for grapefruit ! I m sure they were delicious ! I m french from Quebec, Canada, i would love sailing but i get sea sick at the extreme ! i feel sick just tinking about it ! You don t know till you go on a boat ! lol , the first time i went to Newfoundland ( trucking ) the ferry is 7 1/2 hours long and that s when i discovered i get sea sick ! So before coming back on the ferry, i bought a bottle of gravol ( with ginger ) and i was ok ! Now after 35 years of trucking coast to coast ( canada ) i m retired ! My younger sister has a nice old wooden sail ! they spend their summer vacations on lake Ontario ( great lakes ) in Ontario ! their friends have the same kind of sail and they join them there ! Wish you guys a great stay there and exited to watch your next video ! bye for now ! 🤠
Brian, did you ever think you'd be back there, with the love of your life beside you and your most amazing child on your hip? You've come so far, sir! Congratulations!
Watching the Delos saga over the last decade, it really is the adventure of a lifetime, in the truest sense. Sets sail for adventure and to find his forutunes, and here he is a decade later, married with a daughter. Just a unique peek unto how a life can unfold when lived to its fullest.
@@svdelos we have been watching your videos since the early days of piecing together stills. You have been an inspiration. If you visit Vanuatu anytime soon, look us up 😊
Wow, I see cars and concrete roads, the flat plains, the best and tidy gardens and the rolling swell are just as I remember it. Plus of course the beautiful people. I bought a tapa painting from a lady who was sat under a tree. Over days I watched her bash out the tapa cloth and then paint a warrior for me. I look at it everyday and remember a special time in 1987
I want to Thank your little family! We have been watching your channel for about 12 years now. Recently my husband has had major surgery. We started rewatching all the episodes from the first. He said that it is helping him feel better. Thank you so much for helping my loved one! ❤
ahaha watching this video is the first time I realized that t-shirt was see through... And that moment when we sailed into Fatu Hiva was one of the top best moments of my life!
You so casually say, "on my first circumnavigation". You have to know how completely mind-blowing that is to me! Your whole world is so mind-blowing! Thank you so much for showing me so much and so many amazing places.
Ok. Finally after tons of videos, we have a taste of why we all fell in love with this channel. This is adventure. The crossing of a huge ocean...mostly. Landfall in one of the few places you can truly call a paradise. Around the word again on Delos. I hope you guys get to revisit some of the same places you went before, and meet some of the same interesting people you met before. But, wherever your journey takes you, thanks for taking us along for the ride.

It’s so beautiful! Thank you for sharing with all of us! I probably wouldn’t get an opportunity to see this amazing work that God created without your channel!!! Seriously brought tears to my eyes🌻🌻🌻
Fatu Hiva is kinda legendary for me. One of my greatest heros and idols, Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl and his wife lived there out in the wild in the 1930's as a young couple trying to find a way back to the nature, live out of the jungle as in Paradise. I grew up on his books and this episode brought back those years when I dreamt about that place - and it looks exactly as magical Heyerdahl described it. Thank you for showing it.
Life in Maui is absolutely devastating right now. It is such a nice thing to see some simple beauty and joy right now. A lovely distraction, I thank you all. Mahalo.🌺🌺🌺
Honestly, I find it surprising that more crews didnt mutiny after seeing south pacific paradises. Genuinely. I know I wouldnt be heading back to rainy GB just to toil away on the bottom rung of society there. I'd rather be the weird gringo toiling away on the bottom rung of society where theres palm trees and sunshine lol.
The penalty for mutiny was hanging and the Navy took the pursuit of mutineers very seriously. They sent a ship to Tahiti solely to capture the Bounty mutineers that were there and bring them back in irons for trial and execution. Though they never found The Bounty and the mutineers on Pitcairn Island. Anyway, this kind of consequence was a serious disincentive for British sailors to mutiny just to stay somewhere nice for a while.
The women and their charms were an integral part of the lovely place. But not worth being brought back home in irons (including shipwreck on the Australian cost) and being hanged. The fornicators has their moments of pleasure but, by god, they had their years of remorse before a painful death!
Hermann Melville wrote Typee about this very thing. Went AWOL from a whaling ship on Nuka Hiva in the early 1800s. There are good reasons he left/escaped. The Hayerdahls had the same idea early/mid 20th century here on Fatu Hiva. They also ended up having to flee. Paradise, yes. But still part of this fallen world.
