5:18 😆 I didn't realize Makongo had such big bright eyes like 👀. He's so adorable 🥰. Mosi was persistent, and wanted to play with his dad. Lomako was really patient with him, until he wasn't anymore, and scolded him. Precious Nala tried to referee the situation, but then she was like 😲.
Bravo Dahlia, you are the queen Mom. Without you this troop would be in a mess of sadness. So happy for the baby that he has a good stepmom.Dolly is not a young cheeky baby anymore good for her for taking on a big job.❤
Nala is very protective of her brother and I think she misunderstood the game between them. I don't think Lomako wanted to hurt Mosi, they were just playing a little rough.❤❤❤❤great video thank you so much.❤
I think the baby just discovered his ear 😄I'm so grateful Dalia takes care of the baby so well! More human Aunties should be this loving and protective and kind. I love this little troop so much! Thank you for the videos.
It does get a little frightening in there. They need room to get away from each other sometimes! They are doing the best with what they have ( the gorillas)❤️
Loved the video and so glad Makongo has Dahlia to cling to. Bless her little old heart, I can see just how slow she walks up steps. She’s a jewel to take care of little Makongo. 🥰 Thank you so much for adding text/ descriptions of who is who and what they are doing, it really helps us new viewers get to know everyone better. I just have to learn to read faster before they disappear. LOL 😂😂 Thanks again for your video and time you put into the videos. 😊💕🙏🏼
There is one blatantly obvious problem here...the gorillas are large, very intelligent and active animals in a very confined space. It looks to me like the younger male was trying to get the silverback to play with him, not being aggressive, and when the silverback reacted, there wasn't enough space for the younger gorilla to get away from him without running right into another gorilla. I can't even imagine how stressful those close confines must be for them at times. Imagine yourself stuck in a room with 2 fully grown adults, 2 teenagers and a baby with a non-stop parade of noisy people walking past, staring at you, smacking the glass, etc. There is no 'personal space' at all for them. I think that it's more incredible to see how amazingly well these gorillas get along than to see an occasional outburst of frustration they might have.
YES. I watch the D’Jeeco group in Taipei most of the time. I never feel stressed. It’s a young family (5) and their habitat is tranquil. They also have a local small deer like creature that they treat like a pet. The two year old male gorillas (2) tumble and play everyday. The two females sometimes argue. Check it out if you haven’t discovered this family. It’s ideal for being in captivity. ❤D’Jeeco, Tayari, Iriki, Jabali and the baby Ringo. I watch all gorilla videos around the world but Taiwan got it right this time.
Their indoor space is indeed limited, and they sometimes go outside to play. While everything was happening indoors, Zola and Loango were outside and didn’t participate. Lomako stayed indoors to keep a close watch on his baby son, which is why he didn’t go outside. However, Mosi was very excited that day and kept chasing Lomako.
@@AllThingsGorilla While gorillas are very familial and clearly are devoted to each other in their groups, it's just as evident that each of them demands their own space and equally respects the space of each other. In this, the zoo fails them. They need more space.
Nala wasn't playing. She nibbled Lomako's arm, and gave him the business, 😂. Nala has been wanting to get closer to Makongo since he was born. Dalila didn't have a problem with Nala touching him, like in the beginning of the video, just when he was sleeping. Within a few short months, I think Dalila will let her hold baby. ❤
😂😂😂 While Nala was sniffing the sleeping Makongo, Dalila already had her fist 👊 raised. If Nala took another step closer, Dalila would not hesitate to act.🤣🤣👸🦍👍♥️
Because the baby was in the same room, she separated Lomako and Mosi several times for that reason. In the end, she got angry because she saw that after Lomako had controlled Mosi, he still wanted to bite him, which made her furious.
It's impressive how agile and quick Lomako is jumping from log (not sure what else to call it) to the other, considering his weight and size. He was very restrained under the circumstances. He didn't technically suppress Mosi, but that hand on the back of Mosi's head felt like a "calm down, pack it in" type of conversation between the two. Dalila was smart enough to get herself and Makongo to safety, it appeared she went into a back room. Are they the sleeping quarters? Also it was nice to see the staff were paying attention to the family's behavior as that door opened and closed pretty sharply. Thank you again for sharing this video. 💖💖🦍
Lomako kept avoiding Mosi's mischief, but in the end, he used his strength to successfully subdue Mosi. The zookeeper was also keeping an eye on them, and when they saw Dalila wanted to leave, they immediately opened the door. Dalila walked into the room across the way, where it was safer and quieter for the baby.👸🦍👍♥️
@@AllThingsGorilla I felt somewhat sorry for Lomako, I think he's trying really hard to show Dalila that he's calm and can safely be around her and Makongo and Mosi spoilt that to a degree. I thought it was interesting that after Mosi had calmed down. Dad just sat quietly watching the door they went through. Dalila is smart, she'll let him get close to Makongo, but Makongo just needs to be a bit bigger.
@@renewashington791 Thank you for your kind words. Lomako is a young silverback, but I think he has the temperament and characteristics to be a great leader and protector. This poor family has gone through so much upheaval emotionally and Lomako has really done a good job at trying to keep everyone feeling safe and secure. 💐
I think they do understand that Dalila is the most experienced with being a mother. I wonder if she was higher in status to Tamidol before Makongo was born.
@@LynnAnn1960 After Tamidol passed away, the troop members were allowed to stay near her body for a while, helping them understand what had happened. So yes, the members understand why the baby now has a new mother 👩.
I wonder what will mentally happen to the blackbacks who were all castrated? I still will never understand or accept why. We are trying to save the species. All the zoo's should work together and figure this situation out instead of caring more about money. Mosi and Nala remind me of Annie and Kiamosa growing up. Mosi has such long arms ,he would have been a magnificent silverback for sure😢 So, are they now hoping that Nala and Lomako mate?
The castrated blackbacks are able to stay with their family because they don't develop the raging testosterone levels that necessitate them leaving the group. The Species Survival Plan looks at genetics to decide which animals are likely to produce strong additions to the gene pool.
This is why I hate zoos,no room and mixing elderly Gorillas with young one's is a recipe for disaster, they can't get out of the way quick enough, lucky she and the baby weren't hurt.
They have the longest limbs ive ever seen on a gorilla! Its actually so crazy if you compare this troop side by side to any of the other troops on youtube....the ratios are so different. Lomako troop would be the fastest gorilllas in the wild, with huge tree swinging capabilities lol
If Mosi were able to become a silverback, he would likely be a massive one. However, after being castrated, he won’t develop as much muscle, which makes his arms look longer. If he were more muscular, his arms wouldn't appear so long.
The EAZA made the decision to castrate the males, and the zoo is adhering to these guidelines. This decision allows surplus males to stay in their family groups without showing aggression towards the silverback.♥️🦍🙏🙏🙏
Baby Makongo's mother, Tamidol, has passed away, and he is now being raised by his foster mother, Dalila. His main source of nutrition comes from bottle feeding by the zookeeper, although he can also eat small amounts of simple solid foods like various vegetables.
