Agreed batman is not an easy shadow to be in because the bar is set high and is a dark place whereas nightwing wouldn't go as far as batman in most cases and has a lighter side to him si itd be easier for damien to follow the light side and become a newer version of nightwing
I honestly don't think it's the point of him being Nightwing, as a lineage, the Nightwing mantle is meant to be a form of Independence from Bruce's mistakes as a father. A way to step away from him and he their own hero, not a sidekick as obvious as that is. There's really no shadow to follow, just a way to get away from Bruce's shadow and start the process of Independence much like Dick.

Personally, I think that because of Damian's childhood and the nature of the environment he grew up in he does have a lot of issues, and mostly because of Batman's twisted version of emotional neglect and Talia's perfectionism it caused Damian so much grief and struggles. Dick was the only one who understood Daman or the few who did and realized lashing out is the only way to deal with his mental struggles. Damian is not only honoring his memory but trying to find who he is through the vigilante Nightwing to get the closure he never had.

In the first series of Batman comics, instilling fear onto his enemies was who he was before later issues explored his personality. Imagine that, only replace fear with anger and you’ve got Damian Wayne. Everything Bruce is is out of fear from being Batman to being Bruce. He’s Batman, because he fears others would suffer the same trauma he one did as a child and he’s the playboy businessman out of the fear others would find out Bruce Wayne is Batman. The reason he never shows this fear is because over the years, he’s learned to control that fear in a way so no one would know. Being Batman is his way of releasing that fear. Though, as a child in flashbacks, Bruce didn’t control it very well and was so scared to the point of being scared of his own shadow almost. Damian is the same way, only with anger. He’s been angry for all of his life, due to his traumatic childhood. Sure, Damian may’ve not lost his parents through death, but did lose his innocent, playful childhood, because of his parents. Eventually, Damian will grow older and learn to control that anger and has shown improvement when living under Batman and hanging out with Dick. Though, I don’t see Damian being stonefaced and serious like his father. Damian is dealing with anger, not fear. I see Damian controlling his anger through laughter. I’m inspecting this through living with someone that also had anger problems and she had learned to control it. Once she got older, she became more like a clown. Since Damian looks up to Dick and Dick is a carefree type of guy, I see Damian wanting to be like Dick Grayson and using laughter to control his anger. It would be interesting to see Damian go that direction.

He's one of the few rays of legitimate light in a world of unreachable heroes, he has the potential to be better than batman himself, and he's just an overall cool guy. But this just seems out of character. To not blame him is one thing, but to encourage him to take his place, with what was going on in the world just seems ridiculous. He had to know that would just antagonize Batman and others. I feel like a little bit of resentment that the biological son of his adoptive father was the one who killed him would make much more sense.
I think the only Robin that can surpass Batman is Tim Drake. What Nightwing wants, is to be something else, though he will wear and endure the weight of the Cape, he do not want to be like him. On the other hand, Tim Drake wants to be the greatest detective in the world and for that, he has to be better than Batman himself

Actually its more of a legacy kind of thing. When damian defeats brainiac in his story it said that Batman was killed. And cause of that he took up the role of the new Batman as a reminder of his father. So maybe that was part of it
Y'know i'd much rather have Tim in Injustice 2 than Damien, it's mostly because Tim would work better as Robin than Damien going back to Robin after being Nightwing.
Damian is in denial he’s way too old to be that naïve considering where the alleged accident took place. What he was doing was a form of semi-subconscious act of usurpation. Taking on the name nightwing was the completion of this act. Essentially if he cannot surpass his victim he will become his victim in his own way.

When I first saw Damien as Robin before the game's release, I was expecting for a deeper depth between Bruce and Damien. I think that injustice Damian should be a disgrace to the name of Nightwing, don’t get me wrong I love Damian Wayne in comics but being a murderer called Nightwing is bulshit
He did kill Dick Grayson. There's no way around that, and I think that something he should have to atone for. To that end, I think taking on the identity of Nightwing is appropriate, as it is a fitting way for him to come back from what he did to Dick.
i think that he took the identity of nightwing as a middle finger to batman but also to help him cope with his guilt.

Damian is in denial he’s way too old to be that naïve considering where the alleged accident took place. What he was doing was a form of semi-subconscious act of usurpation.
Taking on the name nightwing was the completion of this act. Essentially if he cannot surpass his victim he will become his victim in his own way.

Damian doesn’t deserve the title of Nightwing
When I first saw Damien as Robin before the game's release, I was expecting for a deeper depth between Bruce and Damien. Like somewhere around the story, Damien would understand that he's *truly* guilty for what he did to Richard, and understand that he doesn't deserve his name. But oh well, I hope that'll be answered in the Injustice 2 comics.

I think damian just became nightwing because he joined superman.Dick got the name of nightwing because of a story that superman told him about a kryptonian legend, so it would make sense that Damian used the name of nightwing after he joined superman
