- The sugar factory opened for permanent piling on Tuesday. I usually run the cart in the field but I spent some time out of the field this year to haul sugar beets to the factory! Harvesting sugar beets takes a lot of help. We had the harvester, beet topper, 2 carts, and 8 trucks running to get as much as we could harvested. We ended up getting 230 acres done in 4 days. We could've gotten more done but we were running into issues with the harvester. We were plugging up the pilers at the factory because too much mud was getting loaded in the trucks. We have never had this much dirt in our beets. We adjusted just about everything we could on our harvester, went slower, and it still wasn't enough. We even ran them through our cart to get more dirt out and still had issues. We think the type of soil in the field was part of the problem. Saturday night we got 1.2 inches of rain so I don't think we will be back in the field for a couple of days. Maybe we will get some corn done in the meantime!

You need a couple of large transport carts like they use in Europe to haul the beets out of the field to the trucks. That way the trucks don't get tore up in the muddy fields. Cheers... P. S. One of those all in one self-propelled harvesters would be nice too.
Very nice video and love seeing the big ag equipment at work. When I was a kid and teenager we worked our farm with an old kerosene burner Case and a John Deere 40. Still have and use the 40 to this day.
I agree with your assessment of a good salami sandwich. For a real treat try having salami and scrambled eggs for breakfast. MMMMMM Also, if you can ever find a place that will put salami in your Philly steak sandwich it will change your life. Great video, thanks for sharing.

Its a compleatly diffrent sugar beet harvest in usa than in europe. Nice to see this. In europe you have big harvesters who do everything in one pass.

Ok so the ginormous dump trailers you use fascinate me. Iv never seen anything like that used in any other part of the USA. How many tons do they haul?
They haul about 40 tons depends on the trailer

@@onionfriend9799 I'm going on the assumption that this farm is also in Michigan, I thought he said Caro. Anyway, the State of Michigan allows trucks with a gross weight up to 164,000 pounds on roads, as long as you have the axles to carry it. Our weights are above federal law but due to 'grandfather clauses' are allowed. So a truck that is carrying 164,000 lbs. must have 11 axles each of which can only carry 13,000 lbs.

Only way to go! Had one on a challenger but it would jerk the trucks when trying to drag them onto the road... quadtrack worked so much better!
