- I got the opportunity to play with Megadeth in Chicago thanks to the Make-a-Wish foundation. It was truly a great wish, and I'm so grateful to both the band and to Make-a-Wish for allowing this to happen.
We had to play the newer version because of tuning issues... this created a little confusion at times but I'd say we got by okay :)

I don't think he is depressed, he wanted to concentrate on the song. He did not want to mess up.
He flubbed a couple times on the leads and smiled each time- but kept going. That's better than quitting and getting upset. Glad he got his wish.

This is amazing. He uses his wish to play A Toute Le Monde with his favourite band. Probably the most appropriate song. Powerful stuff.
When I put the lyrics and the kids situation together in my head I got a little emotional, made me wonder how many people in this comments section dont know the words and aren't getting the full effect.

@@S-A-CCL well they credited him on 4 of the songs, but those 4 were the only ones Mustaine had proof of him writing. But the other 6 songs on the album were most likely written by Dave but they didnt put his name on it becuase he didnt have hard evidence he wrote it. Metallica used Daves riffs on Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets becuase Metallica cant write riffs for themselves. Why do you think all of Kirks solos sounded the same on Kill Em All? Becuase Dave wrote them and Kirk couldnt write shit for himself until he got guitar lessons before Ride the Lightning.

Actually he counted it right, if you listen carefully you will see at some point the guitarists are not synchronized with the recording at all and he started counting so they can start the song on time.

Everyone saying they'd be crapping their pants if they were this kid, I'll tell you something, he's just taking the opportunity seriously and making the most of it. When you have faced your own mortality, when you've either died and come back, or know you're terminal and been given an expiration date, not much tends to scare you anymore. Things become much less awkward, much less stressful. You allow yourself to live in the moment and take everything as seriously as possible, but without fear. Trust me when I tell you that fear and anxiety is the first thing a person decides has no place in their minds anymore because it only wastes precious time that they now have a limited supply of. He's not having a bad time, and he's not scared shitless, he's just living every second of the experience to the fullest extent and doing whatever he can to make it the best experience he can. I can assure you that by the time Make A Wish steps in, he's made his peace with death and is long past having any ill feelings about it. He had long since made the choice to live every last second, and not let a single one be wasted. I'm happy for this kid, and admire his maturity in handling his situation. Not everyone can face their own mortality with such grace and maturity. These guys did an awesome thing here, and I hope they spent a good amount of time with him and realized how honored they should be that he wanted to spend precious seconds he had left to hang out with them over anyone else in the world he could have chose. I'm sure the kid thinks he's lucky in this moment, but I wonder if they all truly grasp the gravity of the gift he willingly bestowed upon them. This right here is the very core of what music, and metal in particular is all about. It's not just fast music and breaking shit, with fame comes a huge responsibility and I'd say Megadeth got the assignment and fuckin nailed it.

Oh yes! He was very nervous! I met the band in 2009 and it's very surreal to be in the same room and stand in front of them, shake their hands and have a conversation. And this guy performed I front of them. Great work! Nice vid!

Man, you just had what can only be described as a surreal moment in time and you SLAYED. Insane props to you for jamming with some of the greatest metal players of all time. I can only hope you're doing well wherever you are and have the memory of being one of the coolest kids on the entire planet.
On an aside, I'm so fucking glad Dave is a cool dude and off the junk. I'm not religious, but it can only be described as a miracle that he came through substance abuse the way he did, after so many times of trying and failing. It's probably one of the most feel-good stories I can think of in Metal.
