All three cuts were fully restored to the same quality in 4k from the camera negatives. All three have the same quality Dolby Atmos remix. Walter Murch created one of the first 5.1 70mm mixes with both split stereo surrounds and baby boom channel and so the supervised Atmos remix takes it to a whole new level.

Haha so true! - but on a serious note, I still have and watch my UK Pal copy as it has the infamous end credit sequence which I really like, even though it's supposedly misinterpreted.
I've seen both Apocalypse Now and Close Encounters when they were originally released in the theaters and now on 4K. In this review Jeff says, "I can tell that (Close Encounter) movie was shot 40 years ago," but then he says Apocalypse Now doesn't look like it was shot 40 years ago. Both movies looked beautiful when they were first shown. It's a mistake to think that movies looked bad 40, 50, or 60 years ago. The problem is the Close Encounters 4K disc looks like crap. It has a ton of grain that wasn't present the first time it was shown. The only shot I remember looking grainy were composition shots of the mothership that were in closeup. The Apocalypse Now 4K is a perfect representation of what it originally looked like when it was shown. Hopefully one day we can get a new 4K remastering of the Close Encounters film reels.

I saw down to 13KHz in the article I read
How do you think this would hold up compared to 2001: A Space Odyssey on 4K? I know you said that one was fantastic as well.
@@emeryththeman I did not like the visuals on 2001, it's blurry and not sharp.
Placed my order about halfway through your video. You haven't led me wrong yet!
Canceled and reordered using your link lol. Maybe I should have waited until the end.
Edwin Guerrero thank you sir!
Very helpful review, thank you 🙏🏻
Is 4k blu ray much better than blu ray?
amazing question
@@mourasantos some movies yes but 4K has some freezing issues
This sensual sound thing is supposed to go down to 13hz. That’s low as hell! You’ve got to own a rockin sub to get that low...
I have a Monolith THX 15" so it gets close to that.
Yea my Monolith M-215 scared the CRAP out of me when they were on the boat minding their business and said, “what is that?” right before they meet Kilgore. Thought an earthquake was happening😂🤙🏻
We don't get it in England til 16th september. Did you know mate second sight films over here are bringing dawn of the dead out in 4k
But ofcourse here in the US dawn of the dead is hard af to get on blu ray, like right now a fucking blu ray copy is like 200 hundred dollars to get ahold of
I wonder if they added the dead babbies part and tiger cage scene.
Francis Ford "Cop-ah-luh"
It's ''Ka-poe-luh'' damn it!
I just bought this used for $15.99
I just bought this new for 13.07 Amazon price match at bestbuy
Think I hear the Burnout Revenge 360 boost sound effect in the intro, nostalgia
I just picked this up for $15 today a target. Steal. Can’t wait to toss it in and check it out!
Great movies but I wish they’d included a 4k remaster of the best version, which is the original theatrical cut.
The theatrical is on 4K but not sure if that was restored
Films At Home oh, thanks for passing that along - great news!
Yes. All three versions were fully restored in 4k from the camera negatives. All look and sound amazing!
Dan Hitchman superb!
does anyone know where to get the original cut in 4k in the UK?
