Depends, is a dual hub 750w motor like this better than a single 1000w mid drive with 160nm of torque? I am looking for something like this that can get me (with some mobility issues) up some steep hills, was told that mid drive is better, is it?
I said deal if you have the money to invest and you can wait. I must say I really like your Channel. If I would not have watched your Channel I definitely would have bought the wrong e-bike. I needed it fast since I have one leg and no wheelchair. Supposably 1000 Watts Motors are illegal but I don't see the difference if you're only going 20. Is there anywhere where you can buy cheaper batteries that are worth the money?

Since I dumped my car,This would be great. I’m still looking at Bolton’s ‘Blackbird’ & Biktrix ‘Stunner X Custom. So much info my brain is going to implode.
You should consider Frey e-bike company in China, yeah great and strong and secure company but you have to go through Alibaba which is easy. Bolton bikes buys from Frey in China and puts his name on it, as do many other companies.
One year later.. 🤔 Looks like these guys are still getting the bikes out.👍 I know my Kepler isn't easy to get and it has some blah components. But for the price.. And that Wicked Freedom or their step through are big contenders.. 40 amp controller? 60 V battery ? Get you some huge views testing those out.

Deal, as a eunorau fat HS, and Rad Rover owner. I think some people don't get the difference between a aggressive full suspension mid drive which is fast, balaced, sporty but useless for hauling. Where's my Rad is a much easier/ comfortable to ride hub drive commuter and with racks. Now full suspension AWD hub power interesting 🤔

you covered batteries somewhat here which I appreciate. I'm confused, I see 99.999 AH batteries on EBay for very low prices, $116 and up. How can it have 99 ah when Samsung's are 14 to 18 ah? thanks, love your blogs.

I have a dual 750 watt Areal Rider D with a Luna 1200 watt BBSHD mid drive added with two 20 amp hr. 50 volt battery's plus the original 48 volt 16 amp hr. and a 50 volt 20 amp hr. battery's hooked to the original hub drive system plus a Zogo front shock fork it is a awesome bike GEAT FOR HILLY COUNTRY
Is this like a new version of the Lancer? They luck almost exactly alike except the Defender cones with more upgrades and options. This would be a great buy,and the expected delivery time is far enough to possibly qualify for the ebike tax credit if it gets passed this year. I would give it 10/10 rating. But why don't they just make the stock battery bigger instead of offering 3 batteries. It seems like that's to much weight. It woulda been better with a stock 48v 21amp hour battery and an optional 48v 14amp hour or 17amp hour second battery.

@@jamescahill3390 yea it has a stock 14amp battery plus a second either 14 or 17 amp battery and an optional 3rd battery since the 2 motors are so powerful you need alot of battery. My point is why not make the stock battery a 21amp battery and the second battery either 14 or 17 amps and eliminate the need for the 3rd battery.

With all these " new ' bikes hitting the market why doesn't somebody offer a cool color choice ( s ) ? All this flat black just looks the same from a eye like mine. I could afford several more eBikes if there was something appealing about another one. Same old fat tire black , hard seat and Black handlebars. Yuck - - Love the fat tires and that about it. Here is another new flat black - -machine with yellow tape HS on it. - - Nope- - >

I have two I had two Defender s bikes both of the frame snapped behind the rear shock they are the biggest piece of shit Chinese junk bikes I've ever seen brakes are garbage bearings in the goose neck are bad charging port doesn't work they're just junk

On such bike You must have TWO BATTERIES 35Ah if ever plan to use two motors.
Really You can add 3rd batery on top bar or have 4 batteries by adding on rear rack or on the sides below level rea crack so got 4bat and fully free top of rack.
With trailer good to have 4 bat 70Ah. 3bateries will give you good performance because you divide current on 3. For riding 32km/h you need in avg 500W what is 10A even 12A on low bat so you divide 12A on 4A for each battery what is easy handled by one bat.
10A start serious sagging of voltage, other lossess goes with square of current so in our case mid low speed, 12x12 is 144, at the same time 3 x 4x4 is 48 so huge diference also heating one batery instead 3 bateries, voltage sag in one batery totally kills range and performance.
I have mid drive sIim tires 26x2.6" far from expectation with one bat, on low power current bat ok, motor very inefficient, on high power motor ok but batery disaster, no match even with 2x single bat , so decided to put bateries in parallel and that by matching bats and motor get from motor what by specification expected at the begining but because of missmatch bat motor never got , could go faster but then riding finished in one hour not 3-4h where you do not have to vory about speed and range.

However, if you're looking for a basic model to try out eBiking this is a great choice. The assembly is easy as far as bikes go (took about an hour for me to do, I'm not an expert). All tools needed are included. I added the plastic mud guards you see and a more comfortable seat. The other reviews are correct that you're probably going to want a better seat (Giddy Up! Bike Seat is what I got - super comfortable). The battery easily handles a 2-4 hour ride if you add some of your own pedal power. I haven't even gotten it up to top speed yet - it is very fast. Components are not top of the line, but decent for the price and work just fine. It works great on dirt roads and singletrack and pavement although too heavy to do tricks or any serious technical mountain biking. I'm looking forward to using it a lot over the summer. Tons of fun!
You need two bateries for any kind of real deal, 2 x1200W needs more than 45A, when battery currents rises over 10A start serious sag of voltage losses are going with square of current. If I buy it plan 3 batteries even without trailer.
I have ebike fat tires with that motor and plan the second battery nominal power 750W needs 15A much bigger from 10A. Peak power over 20A?
Defender if you plan trailer must have even third battery IN PARALLEL. 3X17.5Ah = 52.5Ah x 48V 2500Wh.
Without current in each battery 10A or less motor cannot perfom, low power 100-300W motor low efficiency , batery ok! Power 600W and over current 12A Z and more batery NOT OK cannot deliver performance get abused , short life span poor performance overall.
