  • In Summer 2023, when we visited Utah. we dropped by Hell’s Backbone. I don't think many people visit here, and it's far away from the major places. However, you can also feel the history of this area and enjoy the wild and beautiful nature. Enjoy!

That is a cool bridge I didn't know about it. A few weeks ago we started up that road but turned around just before the pavement ended. We was in my show truck that we was taking to a car show in panguitch UT. I put up a few videos on my channel about our trip and car show from that weekend.

I used to drive for a living. I still love driving all kinds of places. I drove that and the “Hogback” near Escalante. Only damn roads ever, to raise the hair on the back of my neck. Will NEVER do it again.

Did the oil company (Phillips Petroleum) that drilled the well just above the bridge pitch in money to improve the road or bridge?

Thank you for the comment! Yes, it was really beautiful. It's a wonderful experience to find something I did not know before. I imagine how hard it was to build a bridge there.Thank you to those who worked hard for others.

Thank you for this. I’ve passed the sign for Hell’s Backbone since 1976 but never ventured out there. This summer I think I will give it a go. Got to be better than driving a bulldozer over 2 pine trees over the backbone.

Just a quick plug: Hell's Backbone Grill is my favorite restaurant in the world. I've altered vacation plans just to stop there. And this road is amazing. The bridge is a real thrill for me. Thank you!

It was not that bad. The bridge was secure, and the road was not that narrow. So, it was not like you can fall easily.

But you didn't tell the WHOLE fascinating story of HOW the road and bridge were built. This video is just a bunch of superficial fluff. It sure deserved a big THUMBS DOWN. However, if anyone reading this is ever in Escalante or Boulder, you definitely do need to make the trip and learn the story that was ignored here.

I kinda agree with you...there are lots of you-tubers travel videos who for example will scan a historical marker bronze plack or story-board for 2 seconds, but won't even take the time to give the viewing public a brief summary of what is engraved upon the sign. Frustrating to the max. They drive thousands of miles to get there...but leave out the important historical facts or stories.
