Thanks 👍. The area had been on my radar too, as I mentioned...sure am glad I truck camped out there for a couple nights! Epic canyon, incredible experience. Very nice comment 👍, Karl.
What an adventure. And solo. My choice but think i'd bring a buddy. Don't think my 73 yr old short legs could do that rock part… but might have to adventure this photo "treat" canyon …you have done a fine video.👏 Great job. A lot of editing. A bonus for us viewers👍
Ha yes on the helicopter! Seeing that out there was so weird, I initially thought it had to be an accident response, but no, apparently a few rich folk overcoming the isolation Lol. I have had this area on my radar for a while now, so impressed, amazed! Thanks much, Karl 👍👍
It was good running into you climbing back out. Im not going to lie im jealous you climbed back out. I was solo and doing the road walk with no shuttle and carrying a rope was miserable. Plus you got to see the slot twice! Definitely the way to do this one i think.
You too man! Great to hear from you, I agree totally! I've gotten caught enough now with it heating up, getting fatigued at the same time, to push it too hard. From hearing this from you glad I chose the route out that I did. Thanks again brother 👍, Karl
Wind, sand, water, and time. Nature’s tools to create masterpieces of art. Very nice slot canyons and enjoyable hike. Good thing you’re super skinny for some of those spots! As I watched, I found the background music very soothing for my tinnitus 👂
Really appreciate those words my friend. Working solo isn't always ideal of course, but I would say things usually turn out pretty well. Cheers, Karl 👍!
Yes it is! As you could probably tell, I was blown away by the almost endless majesty of this place. So thanks again and please share with friends! Karl 👍
Awesome video and highly professional. Love your detailed analysis of each adventure. Wish I lived closer so I could enjoy all your featured spots. Keep doing what you do!!!
Glad to know that you appreciate what we are doing, documenting cool yet less travelled sites in as cinematic way as is practical! Appreciate you, please help us continue to grow by sharing. Cheers, Karl 👍!
Really appreciate it!! Makes me feel great that folks like yourself got enjoyment from this extraordinary formation...hope you find others as entertaining as well. Thanks again, Karl 👍!
Big thanks for the very kind words! I agree totally with your thoughts on this wonderful place. Please share with a few friends, would appreciate that! Karl 👍
I just watched a couple of your adventures and just loved them. Like your commentary and the little bit of background music. My husband and did some hiking in the different parks in Utah and Arizona. I loved being there. We are Mountaineers from Washington. Regretfully, my sweet husband passed a few years ago and now I am living vicariously through different hiking and canyoneering videos. I do hike weekly but up here in Washington.
Thanks Buddy, heck yeah the chopper was startling to come up on it when you're literally in isolation!! You never expect that. That said, had a great time! Thanks 👍, Karl
@@KarlDeckerPresents Happy for you! The production has always been superb, usually the desert content is less popular than the mountains though, looks like people are picking up on it now though.
Dynafit scrambling specific, they were on sale a couple year ago at sierra trading post. I generally try what’s on sale and return OR get a second pair if I like them. Those Have been nice, good climbers but mesh uppers in sand was not ideal. . . Cheers!
Great video Karl, thanks for your effort and dedication. As soon as I watched your video I decided to go there on my next canyon hike. I’ve been looking for the route in ALL TRAILS app. Does anybody know if it’s there? I haven’t been able to find it. Thanks to everyone in advance.
Wow! Based on your video, I would agree with your assessment that it is the best slot Canyon I've never seen! How is it I've lived here most of my life and have never seen or heard of that one? Amazing videography dude... Seriously!!! Question: Approximately how many miles is it round trip to do that hike?
Just stock I phone ad go pro 11 with a wind muffler, foam jacket. . . the key for me is a noise canceling function in Da Vinci resolve during the edit. Hope you have a Magic Adventure!
Hey Karl, this is probably my favorite video of yours. They're all great but this one's my favorite. QUESTION: Between Happy Canyon and High Spur Canyon, which of these two slots is the more spectacular for photography? Also, what is the approx total hiking distance for both of those slots from where you park your vehicle or bike? I'm only good for about a 10 mile hike. I enjoy scrambling, but I don't do repelling. It's Happy Canyon more than 10 miles total?
The best information you could possibly get on either of these routes is on the road trip, Ryan website and or apps. They are both pretty complicated. Happy Canyon will require a solid four-wheel-drive or strong biking skills and a pretty long hike whereas the hi spur is a major driving commitment on dirt roads with high clearance vehicle being a minimum past the Hans Ranger station and then strong scrambling skills if you do it as an outback, as I did not carrying a rope for the final repel. Overall, I think the high spur is more reasonable. both are major adventures.
@KarlDeckerPresents Thanks Karl... I have a high clearance 4x4 Titan with 6 inch lift and I've been riding MX my whole life, so I'm good as far as transportation goes, it's really more the actual "hiking" aspect that I have to be cognizant of. I've had 4 knee surgeries and 3 back surgeries so arthritis really does me in on anything over 8 miles with 10 miles being my absolute maximum. I love the scrambling aspect of hiking and typically go with my son and a short rope, so it really all comes down to the total distance. Based on your video and feedback, I think I will go with the High Spur option. I'm excited to go photograph it on my next Hanksville area trip
@@KarlDeckerPresents I dunno, we've gotten to be pretty good at scrambling with her (though sometimes that means me picking her up and lifting her up to the next ledge). TBH, I think we could get her up and down both of the obstacles in the video. If you've been to WirePass/Buckskin gulch, for example, we got her up the ladder. Also up the chain section at Corona Arch in Moab.
@KarlDeckerPresents makes sense. Absolutely stunning video btw Your style of narration and video content is just incredible and this place is top notch. Great work!
Great adventure Karl! This has been on my radar for awhile. Can't believe your channel doesn't get more views. Your videography is Top Notch!

Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the journey, I found it spectacular!! My best, Karl 👍
When encountering places that redefine the word 'awe', I find myself seeing things thru what I call 'ancient eyes'.
Timeless views of landscapes formed over Hundreds of Thousands of years to create a Masterpiece, especially in this case. Cheers
That was a really cool slot. Couldn’t believe the helicopter. That’s one way to get to the adventure zone. Thanks for sharing😀👍

Another epic adventure Karl. Thanks for showing the details of this super cool slot in the middle of nowhere
Absolutely! I've been looking at it for months now, put together a 3 day trip which I think turned out great! Thanks again, Karl 👍
Absolutely fantastic BRO !! 🙂
Big Thanks Petr - 😊😊!!

You wouldn’t believe the slot I did the day before, I had to exhale to get through it and it was pretty scary. Cheers buddy.
Amazing twists and turns and beautiful looks upward. Fine map and views from above. And, an IFO. Thanks!
Hey thanks for the comment! Appreciate what you said... thanks 👍, Karl.
I really appreciate you showing the details and different angles on the maps. Just that part is entertaining in itself.
Glad you like them! Thanks much, Karl 👍!
Incredible. Thanks for sharing. Super video work for a lone hiker.

Truly amazing slot canyon! Thanks for taking us with you!

I really enjoyed this trip. Great job putting this together!
Awesome, thank you! A truly amazing experience! Karl 👍
Just found you. Great video and awesome slot. Adding it to my list
Glad you did! Welcome and appreciate your kind words, Dark Angel would be world famous if not 50 miles out in the Utah outback! Karl 👍👍
The most beautiful desert adventure vlog I've run across in ages on UA-cam - keep up the awesome work!
That's quite a statement, very much appreciated! Thanks for the kind words and please share with a few friends! Cheers, Karl 👍👍
Karl - thanks for an excellent video.

Thanks my friend 👍! Karl. Please share with some friends if you're able
Spectacular Slot! What was the helicopter doing there? Didn't appear to be a Rescue. Anyway, great work as always!
Not rescuing anyone, that I know. Glad you enjoyed it, was incredible! Karl 🤠
Thanks for taking me along. I will never get to see this for my self. To old to do what you do. Great video.
Really appreciate it!! Makes me feel great that folks like yourself got enjoyment from this extraordinary formation...hope you find others as entertaining as well. Thanks again, Karl 👍!
This was an amazing video… thank you so much!
We have done a few slot canyons but this one was so beautiful!

Good climb. Was the Helicopter doing the easy way to see the canyon. I bet that was a surprise, eh!!
Thanks Buddy, heck yeah the chopper was startling to come up on it when you're literally in isolation!! You never expect that. That said, had a great time! Thanks 👍, Karl
Cactus Karl, dude, these desert videos are actually taking off
Heck yeah brother, you sound surprised.

It would be amazing to explore that place. Just not alone thou. With a group of friends would be best. What an incredible landscape.
It truly IS incredible, this is no exaggeration...of course as with any outdoor experience, always better in person than through a lens! Karl
Another great adventure! What brand of shoes are you wearing?

My hike was roughly 7 or 8 miles with half being Sand walking. Totally worth it but a long ass drive on dirt roads. Thanks for the compliment. Cheers!
Headed out there tomorrow. Love this area so much. Your content is amazing! what type of camera and mic are you using?
Just stock I phone ad go pro 11 with a wind muffler, foam jacket. . . the key for me is a noise canceling function in Da Vinci resolve during the edit. Hope you have a Magic Adventure!
Hey Carl awesome video!!! Amazing video, can't seem to find this map anywhere, would you by chance be willing to share the geo cache gmap?
Thanks appreciate it! I'm sure it's out there, as I found it myself (of course).
Google the Hans Ranger station or road trip Ryan The High Spur

What's the brand name of your shoes?
Dit scrambling specific shoes I found on Sierra trading post for cheap. Mesh is not ideal for sand, hiking though.
Gorgeous! But could my wife do it? And could the dog? Hmmm.
Definitely not the dog.

What happens if you come across a rattlesnake on your way back?
Take a cool pic and let 'em be
If the canyon is too narrow to pass, that means it’s narrow enough to climb over them

Awesome thank you! Karl 👍
Beautiful, but this video makes me a little claustrophobic.
Thanks! It was amazing to say the least. Watch 'the lemon squeezer ' for some REALLY tight spots!! Karl 👍
choose different music please
I hadn't used that main track for a while, rest assured I will give it a long vacation LoL
Personally I think Journey to Mars is perfect for such epic desert adventure, but to each his own I guess
Cool canyon! Super annoying background music. Had to mute it.
Hey, always welcome constructive feedback. Thanks, Karl 👍
