Melissa, I think a how to iron video, with tips about which clothing needs to be ironed, which clothing does not, how to go about it and alternatives, such as folding the clothes right out of the dryer, steamers etc would be incredibly helpful to a large part of your subscribers. Thanks !
I love ironing.....don't know why.....I just set up my board in front of the TV and have at it. I got one of those clothes steamer things and don't really like it that much....takes way too long to iron something. Best thing I ever saw was a friend would cover her kitchen table with a couple heavy quilts and just spread out a whole shirt and swish, swish, swish and she was done....she had 3 boys...4 if you count her hubby and their clothes always looked perfect. I asked her why not an ironing board and she said she had one but hadn't used it for years as it took too long. She was a mom who also worked full time.
You should make a video on ironing men's dress shirts.. I hate ironing mostly because I don't know how to properly do it. It takes me forever and I wind up creating more wrinkles sometimes.. Thanks! Love your videos!
I'm in the USA and everyone I know has an oversized ironing board. Most of our iron are also larger which sits on a tank of water, which we place over the metal plate, which is part of the ironing board. They truly make your life easier 😃
I’ve been watching Clean My Space videos for 7 1/2 years now, ever since I got married and wanted to impress my husband how well I can keep a house clean 😂. Anyways, I just looked how how to iron properly, and I’m so happily shocked that you guys made an ironing video too!!! 🙌🏻 this is awesome. I always trust your advice
Nice job on this video. I'm probably one of the few people in this world that still like to iron and I do it on Sunday nights while watching TV, that's probably my best tip :-) I never heard of the foil wrapping of the ironing bosrd so I'm definitely excited to try that. Thank you!
Hi Melissa, So I decided to try your tips to clean my iron with a paste of baking soda and water. To my surprise it works! It really really works. Thank you for sharing. If only I knew this years ago, I would have just clean it instead of buying a new iron.
Thank you! You helped me iron correctly. For years I haven't ironed, owned an iron or board. I have gotten away with non iron fabrics. I had to learn with child going to school. All schools in Australia have uniforms. But my LOs attending private school and I needed to get it right. For the first time I didn't get rid of one crease and create 5 more thank you!
I loved this video! Ironing is the least agreable task for me, so your tips and tricks are very helpful, especially one with foil! It would be great if you could tell more about ironing, for example, how to iron a long dress, fancy decorations or plates on skirts and sleeves, men shirts and trousers. And what steamer can you recommend as a replacement of an ordinary iron? Thank you))
Hi Melissa. Thanks for the foil paper tip. I never thought of that but it make perfect sense! I want to know how to iron pleated skirts properly without flattening the other pleats next to the ones I just ironed. Also how to properly iron women's slacks with an inner lining. I get so frustrated with slacks since washing them, the inner lining gets very wrinkle and gets in the way when ironing the outer part of of the slacks. Steaming does not seem to be a better option. I look forward to your response to these questions! Thanks again.
I love the BoNash ironing board covers. They are made with a space age fabric to reflect the heat and steam back to the surface. Iron both sides at once and also iron up to 6 layers at a time. Yes, quilters might want to iron 6 layers at a time. It is peal and stick, so a little bit tricky to put on, but way worth it.
I was looking through your views and notice you don't have no videos on how to clean your purse and I mean the outside??? Love this video really needed this video.
Great video. My old ironing board cover finally bit the dust. It had nice padding and I can't seem to find a good replacement. Do you have a recommendation for a quality ironing board cover?
I didn't even notice that thing! What a BEAST!! I want it too. I am so fed up with boards that rock and fall over and are flimsy and noisy. That thing looks like it's going nowhere, and I want it.
Looks like a Reliable brand. I YT'd the best ironing boards and the emblem on her iron and ironing board cover look like Reliable brand. They aren't cheap but have good warranties. Check it out and see if it looks like hers.
I'd like to see tips about ironing when traveling - what can you do if you don't have an ironing board? what are characteristics to look for in a good travel iron? do you think we need one at all? I know most hotels carry them, but isn't it smarter to use one you know, vs one that might not put out enough heat, spits when it steams, or that someone might have burned something with?
Love your videos/tips, you've made cleaning fun for me!! I have a question and maybe you've one over this before and I've missed it, but what's the best way to launder fleecy/faux fur type blankets?
Sara OConnor All I Know is don't dry them in a dryer, especially a hot one. It will shrink Very Small! Check label to see if it can be dryed. I don't take the chance, I just wash, hang everything that needs to be hung on a hanger, No Need to iron anything! I Bought a steam, hang over the door gadget, + it's still in the box, lol! Some thing's like silk wrinkle, so I would iron those, but haven't worn any silk for years.
Hi Melissa, this is a great video for me as I always been hating this task and rather send it to the cleaners. I want to love this job......... Anyway I usually use a towel place on the floor and start pressing? Is there a difference btwn the floor and an ironing table???
I grew up in a Military household & my chore was ironing the starched uniforms & I hated it! Knew the tin foil trick back then too. Today the only thing I iron is the material I use for quilting or sewing.
You look fantastic in this video M. And aluminum foil trick, I'll try to remember that one. (Strangely, I used to do all my ironing on a glass coffeetable and found it worked really well. Your thoughts?) Questions for future ironing videos; the sooner the better :P as I like to look good but am also lazy and stupid with my clothes. 1. How to iron ties that have been rolled up in storage but may still have (seriously) difficult creases to remove. Silk and synthetic. 2a. My all time *must know*: How to *remove* old creases in pant legs? (Washing and ironing out the creases over and over and over seems to be the answer, but would like to know a better way if possible, or if this *is* the way, then a confirmation) 2b. How to create knife-sharp creases in pant legs? I pretty much do this anyway (if I don't have knife-sharp edges on my pant legs, I feel immense lack of confidence and naked), but I notice sometimes I'll accidentally create a second crease and therefore see 2a. above. (For the record, to get knife-sharp edges, I find using a *lot* of moisture (sprayed water) and pressing iron outward from center of pant leg, outward and over the crease works wonders, but wasn't sure if this is the way pros do it.) 3. Do men's collared shirts usually have creases in the arms? I can't find an answer to this! New shirts come with them. After washing, they tend to go away and I have a hard time trying to recreate them with an iron. 4. How to iron the upper portion of pants, when you're trying to keep front and back pockets out of the way. I used to forget to move the pocket fabric out of the way, and some of my pants seem to have permanent "pocket" lines, which annoy me to no end. 5. Best clothing materials to be ironed. And worst. For example, is ironing wicking (workout) shirts a bad idea? I never do, but I'm curious at any rate. 6. Why do some sites recommend spray bottle over using the built-in iron steamer? Looking forward to your video answering THOSE questions because until then, I will be succumbing to *iron* deficiency. My puns are pretty numerous too. :P
Hi Melissa, I love following you and i love your ideas ... I need your help, i tried to clean the burn stains on my iron but i failed with vinegar and soda, and accidentally the stain came out on the collar of my husband's white chemise... do you know how can i clean them?
Thanks for the helpful tips. Was wondering how to get rid of the iron stains that get on my clothes? Sometimes I forget to clean the bottom of the iron 😔
Hi Melissa, Do you know anything about Crystal Wash laundry bioceramic balls? I've seen a few videos on people reviewing them and was interested in maybe purchasing a set. If you know about them, I wanted to hear you're opinion on them. Thanks!
To have less creases on my cloths, I hang them up , right from the line , in my ironing room, like that thy already on a hanger and ironing is less. The clothes creases wile laying down to be ironed.
Car Guy- Kitchen Clothes- I NEED HELP! PLEASE! Could you please cover specialty laundry care!? One of my household duties is the Laundry. My husband is a chef AND an avid car enthusiast. I also deal with cars, and get a lot of gasoline and grit on my clingy Polyester work shirt. We need help on keeping up with our working class fabrics! Vinegar works wonders for his clothes, washing my work shirt on a gentle cycle, and hanging instead of using the dryer do well, but I need more information! (it's so much to research!) Poly-blends and linens most especially. I know they don't have the best shelf life, but what should I look for and how should I keep them up? Please Melissa Maker, you're my only hope! **Also, anyone else still reading this, give this comment a thumbs up so CMY sees it; and 100% invest in microfiber. Hello, Melissa! My question is: how do you iron bed clothes (sheets, pillow case, blanket cover)? It's always so hard for my and takes so much time! May be you know some ironing tips for this big things... Thank you for your helpful videos! And "hello" from Russia!
how do you iron a table cloth, or similarly large piece of fabric? And how do you keep the ironed part from wrinkling while you iron the rest? is there a way to fold it so it won't wrinkle in storage, or do you just have to iron it immediately before putting it on the table?
Do most people use press cloths when ironing pants so that it prevents a shine/sheen? I've heard an alternative tip that pants should not ironed but pressed(using a pressing motion - not back&forth), hence the term "you press your pants".
Hi Melissa, I need to know how to iron pin-tucked bedding? I usually use a slow spin and hang outside to dry so the wind takes the worst of the creasing out, but to get it looking really good, it needs ironing but the iron flattens the pin tucks it doesn't look brilliant :/
I need help ironing. Certain garments no matter how hard I iron there are still remnants of wrinkles in them. Even with steam they are there. Someone said to use some wrinkle released before ironing, but I can not find anywhere! So I bought Febreeze with Downy in it. Do you know if spraying my garment lightly with a spray before ironing will help release the wrinkles? Febreeze with Downy as an ironing hack?
Melissa ur awesome :) thanks for this video :) I have just one question on the odd occasion I have a shirt to iron and somehow I can't get all the wrinkles out? Any tips on how to get them out? They r normally my husbands shirts that r super wrinkled and I can't get it all out
+Clean My Space My Rowenta instructions specifically state to NOT use distilled water. Can you give some tips on those tender fabric nylon, polyester/ viscose shirts girls wear? After I cold water rinse them and hang to dry there’s always a few that still looks a bit wrinkly here and there
Hi I'd like to know how to change the cover? There's some light scorch marks and seems flattened. Is there some padding I can add? I'm currently using the Leifheit brand of ironing board.
Love this video. I am doing a tutorial on ironing, to help encourage parents to teach their children fundamental life/home skills at an earlier age that 18. Can I post this video on my site?
Omg I so could have used this video today lol too bad I watch UA-cam at night! husband asked me to iron his shirt for him to go out of town. I told him I'd do my best but I'm not good at it...could have used this earlier ahhh! great video now I can try to iron better. my ironing question would be how to do sleeves and pleats. I'm always afraid to ruin that area!
Is it possible to use the steam setting or steam mist to sanitize carpets and shoes. I saw a woman put a wet rag on a soiled carpet and ironed out the stain completely from the carpet onto the wet rag. Im wondering if the heat is great enough to sanitize my fluffy slippers from the inside and remove stains. A lot of UA-cam videos on cleaning the outside of shoes and not the inside of the shoes.
I had trouble with by ironing board not being solid enough. It had a "grating" backing and it flexed when you pressed against it. So it could also be a bad ironing board.
With a steam iron you need to put water in the iron when using the steam function, but for some reason my irons always seemed to leak water when it shouldn't. Instead of putting water in the iron I now use a spay bottle with water and just iron over that. I also didn't know about the tin foil method. Should try that.
how do we clean one of those steam irons you have? and are you allowed to put vinegar inthem to remove limescale? as we live where the water is so hard
Melissa, I think a how to iron video, with tips about which clothing needs to be ironed, which clothing does not, how to go about it and alternatives, such as folding the clothes right out of the dryer, steamers etc would be incredibly helpful to a large part of your subscribers. Thanks !

Same here. How's your ironing skills now?
I guess everything in Canada is just way bigger, that ironing board is literally twice the size of mine! 😳
except our guns and body proportions. ..
I'm in the USA and everyone I know has an oversized ironing board. Most of our iron are also larger which sits on a tank of water, which we place over the metal plate, which is part of the ironing board. They truly make your life easier 😃
3x larger than in Japan.
Finally I found on Amazon what name of this ironing board. 😦 too expensive $219 USD. Reliable 22IB Home Ironing Board.
Your videos are so often timely for me. I just started a new job and tried to iron for the first time today!
I’ve been watching Clean My Space videos for 7 1/2 years now, ever since I got married and wanted to impress my husband how well I can keep a house clean 😂. Just wanna put this out there. For someone who has almost zero knowledge in doing chores (me) these tips are very helpful. Thank you
Once again you have supplied me with tips I never would have thought of - You are a GEM, Melissa!

My questions involving laundry are, spray starch, sizing, mixing your own spray starch, and blueing for getting whites whiter.
For anyone wondering, the ironing board is from the brand Reliable Corporation. If you google it, you should be able to find their website ☺️
I was looking through your views and notice you don't have no videos on how to clean your purse and I mean the outside??? Love this video really needed this video.

I hate ironing so I use a steamer instead.
Great Video! Would you recommend using a hand steamer or is ironing the way to go?
Could you make a video tutorial for ironing out creases from chiffon blouses and dresses?

Great tips on ironing but was wondering what brand of iron and ironing board you have. Thank you
Sommar Norris Looks like the Iron is a Reliable Velocity. I think the ironing board is also by Reliable (based on another commenter’s observation).

Ironing questions? How do you correctly iron a collar? And like Danielle (below), I'd like to know how to get the seems lined up on slacks.
how do you iron a table cloth, or similarly large piece of fabric? And how do you keep the ironed part from wrinkling while you iron the rest? is there a way to fold it so it won't wrinkle in storage, or do you just have to iron it immediately before putting it on the table?
I love ur shirt!! It looks pretty awesome :D

Which ironing board do you recommend?😊
That foil trip really works. How do I properly iron shirt?
I LOVE your Starbucks tank in this video - where did you get it?!
Hi I'd like to know how to change the cover? There's some light scorch marks and seems flattened. Is there some padding I can add? I'm currently using the Leifheit brand of ironing board.
What do you recommend: special liquid for iron or just plain water?
Iron and Iron board recommendations/reviews would be good.
Best CHEAP iron!
When is it appropriate to use starch? How can you iron a messed up or fallen bottom crease on shorts?

As someone who irons even my T 👕 like to thank you for great tips!
Advice on washing and ironing silk?
I had trouble with by ironing board not being solid enough. It had a "grating" backing and it flexed when you pressed against it. So it could also be a bad ironing board.
