It’s the family vibe for me. From your pops down to your own children. That’s what I appreciate about fishing from my grandparents to my lil nieces and nephews it just great to be around people and have a good time. Or when going alone it’s just peaceful
It’s humbling to see a (master) admit his mistake . I’m a late bloomer to fishing only been on the water about two months and o have learned a lot from your videos but this one real thought me and helped me understand alot thank you
One of the hallmarks of great character is the ability to find humor in extremely disappointing circumstances. Your sincerity, candor, insights, clarity and humor are evident in your videos. So what if you say “Big ‘un” on most fish. Some of them are Big ‘uns and enthusiasm is contagious! Fish long and hard and I truly hope you make the Classic. I also hope to get to Florida for a guided trip with you before I 🐸 croak. Maybe 2022 will be the year. Best wishes to a very happy man.
🙏that you make it! Either way thank you to you, your family, and your team for taking us along with you this year. My 10 year old daughter saw your daughter and is now huge into fishing. Classic or no classic we love the channel and it makes a difference!
Scott, thanks for speaking about the frustrations and mind games all bass fisherman experience! Always root for you and I’m confident you will realize all your goals! Please keep the excellent content coming.
20 years still learning. Brother that’s bad to the bone. I read in the comments someone said you were his favorite pro angler. I get that. You by far are the best pro angler. I do enjoy watching you and even little Hilary. Haha!!! God doesn’t let you win them all. But he does favor you and your family. God bless big man. Can’t wait to follow you next year. I’m trying to get time to come back down and fish the mighty big O. Hope to see you and give you a high five. Lol!!! Keep it up big man, you Rock!!!
Hey brother Martin when i found your channel 3 years ago you got me into bass fishing! I always catfish growing up! Now im a member with United Bass Anglers small fishing club here in Arkansas! Learned alot on how to use different types of lures from you and your dad!
You have done about everything in your career and at this point you should just go for it on each event you enter. Don't overthink it. And have fun... Love your videos.

To Mr. Scott Martin and the whole SMC crew, I have watched every tournament video you have posted since 2017 and I haven’t been a true social media supporter by clicking the like button. I just wanted to apologize and I want you to know that I’m a thumbs up from here on out. That St. Lawrence derby was a tough one for me to watch play out knowing the whole back story of what your goals are and resonated with me. I felt the struggle. I have felt that struggle as well on a smaller scale. You said it perfectly about fishing for the cutline and the pitfalls that come with that strategy. I know next year regardless on if you get into the classic this year or not, your going to drop bombs next season and I’m pumped about it. SMC nation believes in you Scott! SMC FOR LIFE✊🏼
Go fish all the opens that are left you have nothing to lose that's what I would do any way. Thanks again for another awesome video keep up the great work and be safe .peace out.
Great videos....i was watching your earlyer videos...few yr eraly...you need to watch some of them and see what i see...you where in the game..you where having good time even when the pressure was on...that's the zone you need to get back to...when your in that mind set you don't have a problem taking chances and you where always looking for fist all the time and having a good time doing it...quit making excuses....get back in the game and have fun playing it...thats where your confidence can be found.... QUIT OVER THINKING IT YOUR A NATURAL ITS ALWAYS BEEN THERE...just get back to fishing everyone has a good time fishing.... Do you get it !!
Cool to hear your self-review of both mentality and fishing strategies: thank you for the transparency in those things. It is somehow encouraging for us amateurs to hear a someone such as yourself with much more expertise humbly but also accurately talk through all these things.
Great followup video! Thank you for taking us with you on every tournament this past season. I can assure you Scott many of us felt all the ups and downs right along with you. I have one observation I made as you headed into I believe the Lake Champlain tournament. There were issues with your tournament house being sold and you had to spend a night in a hotel with your team. When you arrived at the hotel and we’re standing in your boat looking at all the luggage and stuff thrown into the back of your truck there was a really stressful and frustrated look on your face! It just felt like something was out of sequence for you and it seemed to follow you throughout the tournament. It was great watching this video and your breakdown of tournament. Please know we’ll be praying very hard for you as you sit in this bubble position! We’ll also be praying for your upcoming season. You’re a proven champion and as we approach the new season and the “Journey” continues we’ll be supporting and praying for you everyday. 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻❤️🎣🐟😎🇺🇸
100% fish an open. Even if you don’t win, it can help your confidence. Even if you don’t do well, you’ll at least know you went down swinging this year. Only way to get out of this rut is to keep fishing.
Scott, totally agree that you didn't lose fish because of the trokar hooks. I chase smallmouth in the northeast almost exclusively and I use trokar as my hooks of choice. Honestly I can't recall the last time I lost a fish on a Ned or a drop shot. If I get a headshake on a hook set they're typically in the boat. I know you said you had the wrong rod in terms of power and action, but do you think it's worth assessing whether or not the rod line you're fishing maybe part of the problem?? You had a rough string of lost fish you're last two events, many of those fish would have put you over the top. Without question, you're the pro and I'm not, but it's worth asking the question whether or not the line of rods you're using maybe contributing to some of your lost fish.
Scott!! Let's Get it buddy 💪💯💯 can't wait to see Your new stuff and Congratulations on A Great Tournament 👏🙌 can't take back what is gone Can only LOOK Forward to the Better Tournament Forward 💯💯

Scott, everyday I go out and kick myself in the butt for not doing something that will work better. You put a lot of hype/pressure at the beginning of the year (2021), so expectations were extreme. Go out next year and patiently get it done. My wife and I enjoyed seeing you and family at L.Champlain. I hope to Marshall your boat at St.Lawrrance 2022.
Scott you guys are athletes, stuff happens. If that wide reciever would have jumped sooner....hit ball as hard as can, but center fielder climbs the wall and catches it, game over. Thanks for honest review of yourself.
Any time your using braid you need a softer rod! Softer than you would use with mono no matter what technique! I find spinerbait rods are better for frogs for example!
@@keithguidry2841 not saying anything wimpy about y’all. The marsh and really anywhere on the gulf coast is awesome fishing and I understand that it’s rugged. I’m just saying that Scott’s from Florida and what you see a lot of in Florida freshwater fishing is a lot of heavier action rods- because of the thick grass. All places have a time and place for certain gear but a majority of the year grass is up on okeechobee and all the other lakes, which calls for heavier gear.
@@noahjohns7954 absolutely! That's why I prefer to use softer than average rods. In my experience using broom stick rods will straighten hooks and rip hooks from fishes mouths, as Well as prevent them from taking in lure deep enough to get a hook in them while using braided line!
@@keithguidry2841 yup . I honestly don’t step up to a heavy rod (it’s a medium butterfly jigging rod) until I go above 2 oz of weight and that’s typically on the boat only. Plus softer rods make even smaller fish a bunch of fun.
