Again thank you to everyone who sent stuff in. These are a blast to make!
Read BERSERK
You're hilarious but also low-key it's adorable/cool - your reaction to getting the leather bound book :') your fans are cool
The Darkness that comes before is a really good book and the series as a whole. You have great fandom who obviously have great taste in books. Can't wait seeing what they'll send you next. And for you to read them, of course.
Not sure how much you know about Gemmell ,the Rigante series is a bit variable(part good part not so) i recommend it but to really get into his books the Drenai series is the one to start with especially "Legend" ...The Chronicles of Prydain are a very easy read and kind of based on Welsh mythology,i believe Disney(who own the rights) were thinking of remaking "the black cauldron" as a live action film at one time but it all petered out..
Really need to read JV Jones. Definitely a little Grimdark. She was taking off in the late 90s early 00s then life got in the way. She's back after a decade finishing up her series and needs support.
"I don't want my entire apartment to be a book fort" well I guess we have less in common than I thought
With how often Daniel mentions that hes only human, I feel he's hiding the fact he is in fact a book reading machine and is secretly requesting more books
He's a reptile from another planet and he hides it so well
Only someone who isn't human would claim to be only human lol
He's only goblin
another episode of "Let's hope this package is not a bomb" XD
Dream Master Really ”XD” After that comment lol You know unabomber killed inconents imagine if that were your family
@@taikajorma7276 it's a joke, calm down. It didn't even cross my mind until you mentioned him
I bet that Brandon actually sent you that
Heeeeeeeyy that’s actually a good theory!
Wait, that actually makes a bit of sense??
I mean, it’s SIGNED, and I wouldn’t give away a SIGNED Sanderson book without even a note on it, so yea, that theory has a good bit of merit knowing what we know.
@@ryanlol5786 i think all the leatherbounds come signed so although it could totally be a gift from hosting the interview, it could still be a fan.
I think he signs them all in bulk. I saw a video clip of him doing all the Hero of Ages Leatherbound books.
Your accidental book drops are hilarious.
Wait, are you saying you can't read over 100 books in a reasonable time frame?!?
*Outrageous*
I thought he was a REAL fantasyfan
I have read 111 fantasy books in a year. Still recovering from it. :D

I wish someone would send me books like this lmao
We cam make a book swap! But my taste in books is non exsistent lol
I`d love them to send them to me as well ...though i already have half of the ones he got here...
Same
And a new IKEA bookshelf to put them on!
Same but I am still genuinely happy that he and others get books like this 💜
"I hope your 2020 is starting just fine" Oh sweet summer child.
I'm going back through Daniel's videos and I laughed out loud when he said that.
This episode has it all. A promised death match, a yeeted book entering the stratosphere, begging for mercy from the endless storm of books... this is the quality non-content that I watch, "Please, god, don't be a bomb" for.
Nicholas Volm “a yeeted book” 😂
I feel like Daniel will have a heart attack if someone sends him the whole Mistborn leather bound set 👀
Lightningtiger77 Is this a challenge?
@@amberreid1059 Yes.
Who wouldn't?
"If I open this, do I become magic?"
Your Harry Potter is showing...😋
I can't believe Prydain Chronicles have fallen into obscurity. They were all the rage in the 80s and Disney butchered them into a movie.
I was fortunate enough to get to visit the author in his home when I was in school.
Some got Newbery medals.
IKR? Hence why I sent them to him. Though, I don't know how my name became Darren, he read my name on the note out loud. lol
@@carlwilliams9642 Good move. I think I heard him mention Eddings during the livestream yesterday though I wasn't paying close attention. They would be classified as YA today and they're certainly not as complex as Sanderson/etc, but they're definitely noteworthy. Prydain in particular is very accessible at maybe a 4th-5th grade level. Belgariad would be more 6-8th I think - been decades since I read that (and the Kindle rights are apparently in limbo).
@@RichFreeman I just bought the first book of The Belgariad the other day. Very much looking forward to that read. Do you recommend Eddings' other series (Malloreon, Elenium, etc.)?
@@carlwilliams9642 I haven't read those. I'll probably get around to reading them some day if they ever sort out the Kindle rights. I realize paperbacks are dirt cheap but I just really don't like the idea of having to lug them around, and I don't think I could live without Whispersync at this point...
It's still in my top 10 of all time. It's such a great series.
I'm the one who sent you Codex Alera book 1, I really hope like it!
loved the codex alera books, fun magic system, and i listen to the audiobooks which are narrated by the fabulous kate reading
Zenketsu Codex Alera was amazing! I really hope Daniel reads and reviews the series!
He really needs to read it! So good I finished it earlier his year.
But... but the intro? Where is the "Dear God Please Don't be a Bomb" intro?
Great video as always.
What if you asked smaller channels to review some of these books and then host them?
That's not a bad idea
hey I am down with that too! That way all books get read! Maybe to make it fair people can vote so no one gets "offended" if Daniel is not the one actually reading it.
he would basically become a youtube publisher
@@DeeSnow97 If he did one a month it wouldn't be to bad.
This is actually a super rad idea.
If the book was signed then maybe it was from Brandon himself.
KerstinMamma preordered leatherbound’s were all numbered and signed by Brandon.
@@shastatastic Don't kill my dreams.

Agree with shannon, that said, sending such an expensive book without a note.. maybe it was brandon haha
@@williambrown2135 Agreed. Who the hell would give it up?!

Daniel: HUMAN!

(sorry, but we're reading shakespeare in class right now, and I absolutely am that one grammar nazi who unnecessarily points out tiny mistakes)
He's a lizard person!
Daniel fanboying over the leather bound edition of Warbreaker is the best part of this video:)
I'm both disappointed that you've never heard of the Prydain series, but also very envious that you get to enjoy them for the first time. They are my favorite fantasy series.
I was not expecting this level of comedic value and I appreciate it
Here since 3-4k... congratulations on 100k, this is my must watch channel now
Forcing love and affection on those who send you books. Unbelievable
Lol
The Chronicles of Prydain was one of my favorites back in elementary school. One of my very first introductions to Fantasy!
NOTE: Books were dropped in this video! Books were thrown in this video! 😀 Some accidentally? Does it matter? Gravity, Daniels true antagonist. Keep dropping books my dude.
That whisk microphone says much of your priorities: books books books. 👍
Before long Daniel will need a bigger apartment, too many full bookshelves.
#FirstWorldProblems
That Warbreaker Leatherbound made me drool somewhat. Sexy tome. ❤
Prydain is where the movie "The Black Cauldron" the Disney movie comes from.
Sadly, where I moved to a smaller place I had to sell/give away 90% of my books. Everything is now on kindle, but damn I miss real books!
chronicles of prydain are a great pickup!! very classic. it's an interpretation of the welsh canon that predates arturian legend (from which Merlin is imported, among other things)
Quick, somebody send him just a pair of trunks! Yes, despite of how he feels about it, you know we all want to see it.
😂😂
I'ma say Brandon himself sent Warbreaker. That edition looks unbelievable!
Also, the video reminded me that I want to read the Silo series. I enjoyed Hugh Howey's Beacon 23 a lot when I read it a few years back. R. Scott Baker's Prince of Nothing series (The Darkness that Comes Before is book one) is awesome as well. Aside from First Law and Ed McDonald's Raven's Mark Trilogy probably my favourite full-on grimdark series out there.
The self-published books looked great too. These videos are not only entertaining but at this point one of my favourite ways to discover new books or get reminded of others I wanted to read but never got to ^^
Kudos to whoever sent you The Chronicles of Prydain. It is the seminal YA fantasy series and was fantastic YA before the category even existed. But I’ll shut up about it because it’s on my list to cover on my own channel. =)
Glad someone sent you The Darkness that Comes Before. It's a series with a veneer of grimdark but a lot of nuance. Very intimate representation of its characters. Emotionally convincing while also cerebral, and thought-provoking.
Nice endorsement. You've got me wanting to read it!
Right?! Right. Glad to see people commenting about it, 'cause that's the one out of the three books I sent I thought Daniel would've heard of.
The Darkness that Comes Before is amazing.
+
Yeah, that's why I sent it. ;)
I used to see it recommended alongside Malaz, but not so much these days anymore, for some reason...
@@JanPospisilArt I think the last couple books weren't as good, and the series on a whole got complicated, but the start was amazing and it's definitely worth a read!
I loved Lloyd Alexander as a kid. I should do a reread and see if it still holds up. Hope you enjoy those!
I can understand why people send you books. You share your own personal love of book, and people want to return the favor. Thanks always.
Why are these videos so entertaining and awesome? I just want you to open book packages every day, lol!
The chronicles of prydain has "The Black Cauldron" in it.... Thank you whoever sent that to him.
I read The Chronicles of Prydain about a year ago. They start off a little weak, but they just keep getting better and better as they go on and the protagonist has some really good character development!
I read The Chronicles of Prydain about 40yrs ago ...there's been rumours that Disney might remake "The Black Cauldron" but use all the books not just Cauldron...
@@wildfire160 If they do I seriously hope they don't try to cram it all into one movie. I never actually watched the original movie but I think a big part of the problem is that they tried to turn a book 2 into a whole story while greatly simplifying it.
The books were outstanding for their time, but if you go in expecting The Way of Kings you'll be disappointed. They're definitely well-suited to something like a 5th grade level. Maybe think LotR simplified to a fairly young adult level.
That's nice to hear! Considering I quite enjoyed the first one!
The Darkness That Comes Before is very interesting, it is the first book of a 7-Book epic (with potential sequels, not sure yet) with heavy focus on psychology and philosophy
"I don't my entire house to be a book fort."
I know what you mean, I have to literally tiptoe around my house so that I don't brush against any of the book stacks and knock them over. It has happened several tines and they always create a domino effect that will have me cleaning for hours afterwards.
Only just saw this video, 100% support the Prydain series. It gets the honor of getting me into fantasy.
It's great to see David Gemmell getting some love.
Whoa, a shout-out for Chronicles of Prydain! That's a great classic (they even made a Disney movie "The Black Cauldron" based on the first book back in early 80s, but that was not... so great). Also props to whoever sent you Gemmel's books, those are often pretty great, quick reads.
Daniel - Lloyd Alexander is required reading for ANY and EVERY Fantasy Fiction/ Sword & Sorcery reader - I am a little shocked you have never heard of the Chronicles of Prydain!
That Lloyd Alexander series is what started my love of fantasy when I was a kid.
I honestly couldn't stop smiling the entire video. That's a present. I have zero excuse for watching so little of your channel thus far. Anyway, thank you for existing. Yeah.
Yay! You got the Warbreaker leatherbound!!! It’s so gorgeous, I’m glad someone sent it to you.
some might say "you judge books by their covers".....(12:15)
Chronicles of Prydain is one of my favorite series. It is young, but really well done. It would be a good one to add if you do a part 2 of your videos about starting children in fantasy.
Thumbs up to Darren(?) for sending you the Prydain Chronicles. It was what introduced me to high fantasy as a kid. And I agree, it is one of the best coming of age stories I've ever read. Lloyd Alexander was my author growing up. I also loved The Marvelous Misadventures of Sebastian and The Gawgon and the Boy.
Lloyd Alexander is OG! His books are beautiful, lyrical, and pack a complex emotional punch. Enjoy!
This was the first unboxing I watched of yours, and oh my goodness that was awesome! Hope they keep coming! Congrats on that beautiful “Warbreaker” copy! 😍
Love these unboxing videos!
Also, I’m about 1/3 of the way through The Shadow Rising and it is dope. 🐉
7:26 “That’s a really cool COINcidence.”
Hah, I see what you did there.
Codex Aleria is a great series. I really liked it. Just a good story which goes a long way with me.
The darkness that comes before ja amazing but such a difficult read. Worth it but the writing style is very special
Second on Chronicles of Prydain! One of my favorites as a kid and about to begin a reread. Disney's Black Cauldron is based on this series.
I love the tone of this video and you keeping in all the hilarious clumsy moments 😂😂😂 ❤️
That binding!!! Got chills
Somehow just now watching this video, but love the Nodevember shirt, I also went to that conference and still wear the shirt! Wish they still were hosting that conference.
YES SOMEONE SENT THE CHRONICLES OF PRYDAIN THANKS (Kudos Darren/Derren)
Your welcome. No idea why he called me Darren though.
Can't give Prydain enough love.
I love the Chronicles of Prydain.
Mail opening Daniel is too wholesome and sweet. Stop it!

That's it.
That's what jinxed us.
Thanks Daniel.
Chronicles of Prydain is a true classic, sure you have seen The Black Cauldron
movie.
Wow u got more books. Congratulations on ur channel!!! Luv always watching ur UA-cam..
I feel you man but at least mine are all on a PC if I had to do it all in paper books my 160 square foot house would need a few additions and I would also have to live on one of the shelves.
*In total I have 1.32 terabytes of audiobooks:*
Books (Done): 126 GB
Books (New): 337 GB
Books (On Going): 293 GB
Books (Unsorted): 587 GB
Books (Various Authors): 259 GB
Oh my gosh! The Prydain Chronicles are SO good, I've loved them since I was a kid, and no one I know have ever heard of them. Please read them if you get the chance!
Waterborn/Blackgod/Darkness were from me. I was only a silent type due to the lack of note availability from that particular eBay seller. (I'd send you my copies, but the shipping from Europe is crazy high, would've cost more than all three books combined.)
Sorry!
W+B are the whole series, imo not well known and underrated. I like that it's relatively short, not a sprawling saga.
Darkness That Comes Before is the first book of a trilogy, which then has a sequel trilogy, but again - I feel like it's a less known, yet very cool book.
Glad you got them ok!
That is the prettiest book I have ever seen.
I would actually die for that leatherbound warbreaker
Prydain is definitely a gem. The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant would have finished it off but you can't have everything, I guess.
Lloyd Alexander was the author who got me into fantasy. I read them in grade 6 but I still remember them. The Disney animated movie “the Black Cauldron” was adapted from this series and is the name of the second book I think.
The chronicles of Prydain is the basis for the Disney film The Black Cauldron
You should definitely rock the tank tops more often
How is this soooo entertaining 😂🤣 I had to stop twice because I was laughing so hard that I couldn't hear anything 😂
I hardly ever watch unboxing videos, but this is just. too adorable not to. what I mean is, you have just so much nice/positive energy about you it's calming to watch.
Dude, appreciate the time, effort and respect I see you put into book reviews, always giving authors a fair shake, wether you like it or not.
But gotta day, seeing you with hair down and having some fun is just plain fun!
Happy New Year!
First, Pella sounds interesting, so I have ordered it from Amazon.
Second, my boyfriend will be moving in soon. We are both early middle age, so we have each amassed an alarming number of books over the years and were wondering how to cram all our books in my house. Now I know. We will have a 2000 Square ñfoot book fort. Thanks for the idea. Lol
That edition of Warbreaker is so pretty! My own house looks like a library at times. 7 shelves full of books.
WOW!!! So many books!! I hope he has time to read all of them and enjoys them! I wish I could get books like this!
Love that flex of you answering a private number call there Daniel..... you well adjusted human you!
Wow, someone sent the whole Banned and the Banished series! They're dark high fantasy with all the typical tropes, but he at least does interesting things with them; the magic system, in particular, has always struck me as pretty unique. James Clemens writes thrillers under another pen name and his style of writing carries over, so imo they're addictive/fast reads, even if he's maybe not the most highbrow writer out there.
Yes. The Banned and the Banished is fantastic.
OMG IDIGO KING I loved those books when I was a bit smaller
You mentioned in one of these videos that you would be interested in reading japanese books. I would strongly recommend "The Heroic Legend of Arslan" by Yoshiki Tanaka. It's a low fantasy persian-inspired series that recently has been overshadowed by its own adaptations and I think a look through the actual books would be interesting and also a way to show people the actual text and the style of the author. Also, he has a tactics-oriented Sci-Fi series named "Legend of the Galactic Heroes" which is in a similar situation between the adaptations and the books. Love the channel and keep up the good work!!
Just started reading the Stormlight Archives due to your channel. Im a recent subscriber and just loving your channel and how its opened up the door to so many new books to read ! Know im going to love the stormlight archives already, just 100 pages in.
Ok peooples. Send our boy some Chuck Tingle classics

o snap, Dan has an anonymous Sugar Librarian lol
also yaaay someone sent you some Bakker!
Oh my GOD! The Chronicles of Prydian was my first Fantasy series, then Earthsea!
I cannot believe you never read Lloyd Alexander! He was such a staple of my childhood, writing YA long before YA was even a separate genre.
READ THE CHRONICLES OF PRYDAIN!! That was my fantasy series as a preteen
So glad someone finally sent him The Darkness That Comes Before.
Hah, nice. You're welcome.
Silo, Yes!!!!🌃 It's not only the covers! You're in for an amazing ride!🌙
And Bakker! The best unboxing, ever!!🎋
