When it comes to UI in Godot, you really want to look into how themes work. It's kind of like a CSS theme in web-dev and while you can set a default theme for your project, you can also choose to make different themes for different parts of your UI hierarchy, which then propogates down to the inheriting child nodes.
I like the writing here, doesn't hesitate to go for bolder prose in character lines even if it just come off offbeat. Got some nice subtler jokes too, like the medic flexing his skills analyzing the junkie after having lost a patent and before asking for a health hazard hot dog.
I am closing in on a stable playable state of my racing game, and what you said hits right on the nose. That dread mixed with excitement but mostly dread, but also pride ... it is a weird mental state.
I understand that you're making the move to Godot. But is using Unity still worth it? I'm not really a full-time game-dev, and only play around with it during my free time. I probably won't ever end up making full games, but is it worth to try a new engine just to have fun in?
I'm someone who made the switch. I'd say it's not. Godot is much much more lightweight and easier to use. In my experience, it feels like the engine doesn't fight you nearly as much as unity does.
@@DiddyHop Thanks for your insight! I've never really had fights with the engine but I do see a lot of things where I'd see problems stemming had I developed those further. Guess it's time to hang Unity up on the shelf.
I personally highly recommend godot for hobbyist projects. Godot is free and pretty easy to learn too, so there's no need to worry about it being a big commitment or anything. I'd recommend downloading it and giving it a try -- you might really enjoy the differences in workflow, or might end up prefering unity. It doesn't really matter as long as you have fun
thanks for uploading these btw David, i rarely end up catching these live
That one kid scared David more than any scare in the game

What's it called?
20:50 Looks like the specularity of a "rectangle light". Probably what was used on the ceiling to light the store.
David has found the true cosmic horror

Can't wait to see what you'll make in Godot! 🥳
