Who reads an 818 page biography of one of America's Founding Fathers and thinks "oh this would make a great hip-hop musical?" A genius named Lin-Manuel Miranda that's who. I personally would prefer the actual show over the animatics. But both would be great also. Great reaction. I can't wait to see more.

I personally prefer to see the stage version even if the lyrics are on top. Even though the lyrics are dense and tell much of the story, the dancing and acting on the stage enhance the story. There are a lot of animatics for the Hamilton songs and they have their own value, but I believe going through it the first time, the stage production gives the best representation. I do appreciate the fact that you could possibly get blocked showing the stage production but using the videos with the lyrics covering the video may reduce that possibility. Also, I know the show well and think you should do all the songs and do them in order.

Lin Manuel Miranda won a Pulitzer Prize for the lyrics on top of all the normal theatre awards. I’m not sure if you know the lead actor wrote the whole thing?!
Definitely as the musical goes on you’ll miss important subtleties of the story if you just watch the animatics. The stage performance is so much better even with the lyrics over the top.
I think you should watch the original stage production, and mabey just turn on captions. However the animatics are absolutely adorable and deserve all the love

First of all, this song really shows the amazing lyricism of Lin Manuel Miranda, i cant even begin to comprehend how someone comes up with this stuff. Second of all, I love Szin's animatics so much, id definetly be down for you reacting to more of them. I feel like they help breakdown the story better for first time viewers, but either way, id still watch lmao
All puns intended in this song! "Shots" are also referring to gunshots and foreshadowing future events in Hamilton's life.

You can do both? The choreography and acting in the stage version are amazing, but you are right the lyrics on that version doesn't allow you to see much.
Lin Manuel Miranda, who plays Hamilton and wrote all the songs and the entire musical, said it took him an entire year to write "My Shot".
szin's videos are fantastic for act 1 and I always recommend them. the audio quality on the animatics are better but the choreography on the stage version is a must see, so I personally wouldn't mind if you are just going to react to the songs to do a double feature like you did here of the animatics and then the stage right after. I absolutely recommend checking out the actual musical up on Disney+ though
So glad I found your channel! I am really excited to see more of your reactions, I love that you give analysis afterwards. I would prefer the actual show videos, but the animatics are good too - just make sure you have a way to see the lyrics, even if you have to look them up separately.
I'd suggest going through the animatics and then watching the play straight through, having the reaction be audio only or on a timer so we can sync up.
The animatics are very cute and Szin has done the entirety of Act I, and various other animators have done Act II. I think doing this would allow you to focus more on the stagecraft when you do watch the play. Many of us have seen it several times and forget it can be hard to get everything in one watch through. The choreography and stagecraft is absolutely stunning, and knowing the basic idea of the story would allow you to focus on them. I personally think the the play is superior to the animatics, so capping off a run of the animatics with the play would be a great experience

The first one I saw was the king George one... please keep doing each song!!! There is so little of the musical that takes place as just dialogue.. it’s almost ALL songs! I like the stage play because I saw it (3 times!!!) But the animated one is also amazing!
The 2nd version is also a studio recording of the album vs a live version.

Agreed with Jan’s suggestion! You can watch the whole musical as animatics which is such a trip.

I love the animation! It’s why I signed up, but I love the show too and if someone hasn’t seen the show it’s a must to show the play first.
King George has 3 songs...all 3 are pure gold!!! Lol
Randy Rainbow does two absolutely hysterical parodies using the King's songs. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND watching them (They're on UA-cam)
You should be able to select captions on the original videos which will give you the lyrics. The animatics are cute and tend to have a lower chance of getting blocked but I do prefer the originals.

Bit of double irony: Hamilton says through the entire musical that he's not going to "throw away his shot" BUT, at the duel he does AND the term is used to mean taking advantage of the chances you're given (a positive thing) but it actually originated as a duel term that eventually results in Hamilton's death (a negative).
Just subscribe to Disney Plus for a month in order to watch the whole musical in one go without breaks, lyrics, or other distractions!
I prefer the stage version but I would also love to see the animations after. (So I guess I vote for both lol)
The animated vids, especially those by szin, are amazing! And you have far less of a shot (haha!) of the vid getting blocked.
The animatics have less chance of being flagged, but so do the lyric videos
I would prefer you react to the live stage version. It has some wonderful things in it with the set design and the spinning stage. It's wonderful. The animatics, while the artists do input their own artistic choices that give a person who has never seen the stage play before a good picture of what's happening in the scenes, aren't as good imo as seeing the stage play. Do both if you can but if you have to choose one, do the live version.

You could pause through the songs to get your thoughts out like if you do both the lyric video and the animatic play the lyric video all the way through and pause through the animatic
Loved it! As long as you ask, I would not even watch the animated versions. I would really prefer the actual performance video - without the overlays! With the overlays is OK, but my wish would be for no overlays. Looking forward to the rest of Hamilton, but don't forget about PTX either, please.
If you decide to watch the musical through the animatics, please don’t forget to turn on the subtitles! I think a lot of people (understandably) get lost just watching without them!

Torn on this one because you're right, you miss some with the lyrics on top... After you're through with Hamilton try and find some of Lin's first hit In the Heights which is getting an actual movie adaption this year starring the guy who plays Laurens.
If you want to do both the animatic and stage versions, I would suggest doing the animatics first. That might enable you to pay closer attention to the action in the stage version, even if you do have to look beyond the lyrics. However, I would make an exception for the first King George song, "You'll Be Back." On that song, in particular, hearing the words as they are being delivered by Jonathan Groff has an impact that I think would be diluted if you had already seen the animatic version. Plus, that song is much slower and you should have an easier time following the lyrics.

I don't care for the animated version. It actually will throw people off as to what the story is about, if they haven't seen the Staged Musical or the Film version. The animation slips ideas into the drawings that are meant to explain the meanings of the Music and Book, but really are ideas the animator came up with. They add nothing to the Songs and Script. They don't really follow the story as written and performed. If you must post them, I will skip them.
