Demolition Racer is a vehicular combat racing video game for the PlayStation and PC that combines destruction and driving tactics in a fast-paced racing environment. It is very similar to the Destruction Derby series. The PC version contained slightly better in-game graphics than the PlayStation version, and included varied weather and times of day. Drivers are given (optional) wacky portraits which displayed on the side of the screen in a race, showing who's ahead of who.
The game was re-released for the Dreamcast as Demolition Racer: No Exit, which featured new tracks, new cars, unlockable mini games, and an additional mode called "No Exit", which plays the same as Last Man Standing in the other games. In No Exit's version of Last Man Standing, the player must now try to survive as long as possible. The game was also redesigned and enhanced. For example, the graphics were upgraded (same goes for the HUD and menus), the levels now have ambient sound effects (such as crowds cheering), and all of the drivers' cars are also shown on the results screen in what condition they were left with at the end of a race.

Came here from watching a retrospective on Driver from 1999 and all the Infogrames and Reflections talk reminded me of this game. I wasn't sure of the name, but as soon as I saw that main menu... Nostalgia! I remember even as a kid thinking that looping engine rev for a confirmation sound was annoying lol. Played the hell out of this on the family computer in 2000
Man I miss this game so much... I remember playing this and listening to old 50s songs and just talking to my grandma and both enjoying the music

Dude! This was the first game I ever bought! This, and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon. My first pc ran demolition racer just fine, but couldn't handle ghost recon. Man those were the days.

I got the game installed on a Windows 10 without using winevdm. I guess my installation version is a 32-bit application, but it ain't starting up even with me setting it to Windows 95 compatibility. The demo version of this game works for the most part on Windows 10, so I guess it's just a DRM disc or Registry problem. Maybe someday someone out there could find a solution. Like the game and gameplay btw.
